Gargoyles are not what you think…Sten’s ship crashed on Earth centuries ago, and since then, he’s been hiding in plain sight, awaiting rescue. The Rose Syndicate has hunted his kind for centuries, capturing and torturing his fellow Khargals in the name of science. But simply fleeing isn’t an option; Angie has a secret. One he’s sworn to protect.
Forced to reveal himself, Sten is confronted with a new truth. Impossible as it seems, Angie is his mate.
And the urge to claim her may be his undoing.

Sticks and Stones is about promise kept and finding someone to love. She is trying to hang on to as much of her families estate as possible. Her father’s long illness has taken much from the property. Slowly she is buying back what was sold to pay the medical bills but her job as a waitress is taking too long to restore her family home. She is planting in her garden around the statue of a gargoyle when a strange man asks to buy it. She doesn’t like him and says since it is a historical home it can’t be sold. He then asks about buying the entire estate. She says it is not for sale. This is just the start of her problems. Someone breaks in and she brings her gun downstairs and finds someone broke her precious knickknacks she had just bought back. She also accidentally shoots a large naked man with wings , tiny horns, and a tail. What? He looks like her garden statue. He is an alien that created the gargoyle myth. He has promised to watch over this family, generation after generation. One of his kind mated with a human and these are his descendants. Not that they know it.
This story is about love and loyalty and finding your inner strength. The story is engaging and makes you forget about what is going on around you until you are finished. The characters have good chemistry and the tale has action as well as romance/sexy time. It is interesting seeing how the story unfolds. I am leaving this review for having received the ARC, but I do so gladly because this is a fantastic story. You will not be disappointed. It will have you wanting to read more.
Another awesome read by Tamsin Ley! Sticks and Stones is a wonderful story about the love that develops between a gargoyle (Khargal) and his ‘human’ charge that he has sworn to protect. I would recommend this book, as I can’t wait to read what happens next! I received this book free as an arc and I willingly leave this review!!
Angie and Sten’s love story involves a lot of conflict. There is no chance that Sten will ever “blend” with Earth’s population. Does Angie love Sten enough to leave the Earth and everything familiar to her? Also, Angie isn’t the only one who knows about Khargals, and those who know are NOT friendly.
I enjoyed how Tamsin resolved these issues, and I’m looking forward to what happens next…..
Now this series is definitely getting my attention. Sten and Angie had to go through so much. But at the end they had what was so much worth to fight for that freedom they so were looking and needed. I hope that in the future there will be more of the khargals and the description of their world as well.
I really liked this story. I loved Angie and Sten. I felt really bad for Sten being lost for so long. The story is fast paced and action packed. I would love to see these characters again including Mae. I won an advanced copy of the book, but I loved it so much I had to buy it. Highly recommend!!
