In Henry Adams, Kansas, you can’t start over without stirring things up . . .Many a good woman has had to leave a no-good man, but how many of them took a back-seat to his 600-lb. hog? On her own for the first time, Genevieve Gibbs is ecstatic, even if certain people preferred the doormat version of Ms. Gibbs. Finding someone who appreciates the “new” her has only just hit Gen’s to-do list when … list when T.C. Barbour appears in her life.
A tiny Kansas town is a far cry from his native Oakland, California, but it’s just the change T. C. needs. While helping his divorced nephew acclimate to single fatherhood, T. C. lands a gig driving a limo for the most powerful woman in Henry Adams. It’s a great way to meet people—and one in particular has already made the job worthwhile. All it takes is a short trip from the airport for Genevieve to snag T.C.’s attention for good.
But it wouldn’t be Henry Adams without adding more drama to the mix. When Gen’s ex Riley returns with his hog in tow, it sets off a chain of events that can ruin everything—unless the residents pull together once again to save the day.
NAACP nominee and USA Today bestselling author Beverly Jenkins returns to the town of Henry Adams with a story of family, friendship, love, and second chances.

I love most of the Blessings books. In fact I wish there was a Henry Adams I could visit because it sounds like the perfect community, even with its ups and downs But, since the first book, some of them seem rushed. The initial book gave a characterization of the members of the town, and now sometimes its just a drive by feeling of the treatment of the some characters… slow down Ms. Jenkins. A good book is like a pleasant journey. You just want to see the environs as you drive by.
I continue to desire to live in “Henry Adams “. The author has a commanding and powerful storytelling gift. I’m enjoying this series by reading each book and waiting weeks to read the next. Appears more characters than “Gen” received New Days. Cannot wait to learn if “Riley” has changed for good, if “Paula” is affected by the truths learned. All the new comings of the town. I want to dive into, “Chasing Down a Dream” . A couple weeks
Ms. Beverly never fails to draw me in to the lives of these characters. Each book is like catching up with old friends.
Another great read in the Blessings series by the incomparable Beverly Jenkins! This is the 7th book of the series, and I consider it a blessing to have read and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The series revolves around the current citizens of the fictional small town of Henry Adams, KS which is based on real historically black townships in Kansas that were established by free slaves fleeing the degradation and lynchings taking place in the post-Civil War southern states of America. The series follows Bernadine Brown, a multi-millionaire, thanks to her hefty divorce settlement from her cheating ex-husband who spreads her blessings by buying the almost defunct Henry Adams off of ebay and with the input of its current citizens, breathing life back into the town and offering hope of a new life to some select foster care children. This is the 7th installment in this ongoing humorous and heartwarming saga, and it focuses on longtime resident Genevieve Gibbs’ new found friendship with newcomer Mr. T. C. Barbour. I loved this story so much, that when I reached the end, I went back to the beginning page and read the book again!
I can never wait till the next one comes out. Love this whole series.
Tremendous series of books about the blessing of Godly relationships. Each book is a slightly different perspective for a different family. This one was a little different as the focus was on an adult who came to visit his widowed brother & his daughters. He finds himself really needed by the family & gains the strength to admit he can’t read & asks for help because they were able to ask him for help. The basis for the series is a woman wants to use a multi million dollar settlement to bless lives. Not just hand out money, but bless lives. So she buys a town in Kansas and promises to repair homes they don’t want to leave, or build new ones if they prefer. The catch is she is bringing in 5 troubled foster children & parents, but she expects the whole town to participate in their lives. The change in attitude & change in every life is a blessing. It is the joy of loving Godly relationships with family, friends, spouses, children, exes, & even enemies & the blessing that comes with them. Blessing series is the perfect name, but start from book 1 so you too understand the gift of an attitude change.
I love all of Beverly Jenkins novels. I reread them over and over again until her next book is released. And I love the town of Henry Adams.
I’ve read the series and await the next book in July
