Libby’s new job as a reporter for the Daily Chronicle is proving quite challenging for the following reasons: Number 1: Her mentor, Dave Chandler, likes to run everywhere which means she has to do the same. Her Karen Millens are already ruined and her new Kurt Geigers are heading the same way. Everyone else gets to take taxis or the Tube. Surely that counts as discrimination or something?Number … something?
Number 2: None of the girls in the news room seem to like her—even though they’ve never even met her! It’s just plain rude—and very hurtful!
And Number 3: Dave Chandler is a bit odd—and that’s without the running thing. He’s very proud of all his trophies and awards but won’t help Libby get any. He won’t divulge who his contacts are—although some of them sound a bit iffy—and he keeps sneaking off without her despite the fact she’s supposed to be shadowing him.
Cassie Beaumont, her bestie and flatmate, is doing really well in her new job, which only makes Libby feel worse about her own. Cassie and Rob are also really close, which is how Libby wants to be with James Harper—she fancies the pants off him— but he seems very distracted.
She realises it’s time for sorting out her life and stepping it up—in more ways than one!

Stepping it up(The Liberty Lawrence Series Book2) by Bea Stevens is the second book in The Liberty Lawrence series. I recommend reading the first book in this series as well as I enjoyed both of them. Of course this book can be read as a standalone. I loved this fun, and quirky book. Libby is a woman who makes mistakes like the rest of us but she’s quirky and fun. I love the libby’s character and I can relate to her a lot. Libby is trying to find her way. Her boyfriend and coworkers are all great they are a great mix of good and bad. I definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is the first book I’ve read from Bea Stevens despite being the second book in a series. Stepping it Up read well as a stand-alone but I would be interested in starting the series from the beginning to become familiar with the characters, I really enjoy reading these types of books in order to see how characters intertwine.
I really enjoyed how this book was written with humor and lightheartedness while remaining relatable and well written. The storyline was descriptive while being a lot of fun and entertaining. The characters are just enjoyable as the storyline, and again I enjoyed Libby’s wit and sass as she tries to find her way.
I look forward to reading more from Bea Stevens!
Oh what a fantastically witty journey this author took me on! I loved it! I read this as a stand-alone and feel it does well on its own. However I will go back and read the first book in the series to get a more in depth look into other characters. The author does a wonderful job with character development and plot pace. It flows well and is beautifully quirky and surprising. This is quickly going on my “to be read as soon as possible for a second time” list. What a wonderful book!
This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. This is the second book to the Liberty Lawrence. I hope read this book as a stand alone and I was fine. I will now read the frost book to get a better understanding of the other characters. I was hooked on this book for the start. I fell in love with the characters right from there start. It only took me a little over a day to devour this book. I wanted to know what would happen to these great characters.
Liberty is just starting a brand new job. She is a reported to a popular paper. Liberty is really excited until she meets the man that she has to shadow. She has to shadow Dave which completely ignores her. Liberty goes to her boyfriends house to have a relaxing night but she comes into a shock. She sees another woman at his apartment. Liberty is introduced to her boyfriend’s ex wife. He tells Libby that she means nothing to her but does his ex feels the same? Liberty goes on her first big story and she can’t help sit to feel something is not right. She tries to her boyfriend and boss but they don’t believe her. Will Libby find out the truth or is it too dangerous?
I loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, mystery, and compromises. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Liberty loves fashion but she takes her job very seriously. She is very quirky and you will laugh at some of the things she does. This talented author will keep you in your toes. I loved all the twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I’m now going to read the first book to get to know the other characters better.
Stepping It Up kind of felt like a Bridget Jones sort of story to me. Liberty is quirky and real, she makes mistakes and has flaws. She’s trying to find her way. Her boyfriend and coworkers are all a mishmash of good and bad, too. So I like how true to life that all is in the story. In the real world, we all aren’t perfect. I do admit I had a harder time being drawn into the story, or really rooting for her relationship. The love story part wasn’t as strong as I normally prefer. I do like the strength she finds in herself, and there is a happy ending.
Stepping It Up is the second book in the Liberty Lawrence series by Bea Stevens. It is a very witty, funny and very entertaining and I really enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the thoughts and actions of our main character Libby. She is a breath of fresh air, her inner musings, just gold and the situations she found herself in, cracked me up. Bea did a great job of putting this story together and providing entertaining from the start to the end. Libby and the other characters were fresh and engaging. If you want a little something to tickle your fancy then grab this book. I look forward to reading more from Bea.
The Liberty Lawrence Series Book Two: Stepping Up written by Bea Stevens. Libby is the main character and comes off as smart yet ditzy at the same time. With issues at work with Dave and her personal life with James. As the story progresses you wonder if there are connections between her work and personal life. As thing progress in the story Libby seems to be everywhere trouble is. There are so many issues with her work and her personal life you see them start to blend. Which normally wouldn’t be a huge issue however shes a journalist dating an Investigator.
Funny, funny stuff. Liberty Lawrence is some one who I related to immediately “I’m sure I must have lost at least four stone…oddly enough my clothes don’t seem to have gotten the memo, though. I’m even working really hard to keep my carbs up…”
At times, this story is like reading a fashion magazine “I pull on my woolen Karen Millennials dress…and Saint Lauren ankle boots”. I would totally borrow her clothes it we were friends.
She has a quick whit, is a bit (perceived) clumsy and has a good instinct (which could be debated depending on who you talk to) – she really didn’t MEAN to threaten her bosses hehe.
This is an enjoyable story. While I have not read book 1 in the series I was able to figure things out very quickly. The author does a good job of character development and filling in any blanks that might be missing from book 1 to book 2.
I will absolutely continue with this series to find out what happens next.
Stepping It Up, Book 2 in the The Liberty Lawrence Series by Bea Stevens.
5 out 5 stars
This is such a sassy book. First I loved the character of Libby, or Liberty as her momma named her.. She is such a spit fire and this girl shares my passion for shoes and clothes so we are sisters on a higher level.
Libby has a new job at the Daily Chronicle and what was supposed to be something amazing, has turned out to be pretty much the worst thing ever. First, she is pair off with the ever running Dave Chandler, who has 2 speeds, stop and a dead sprint. Plus he seems to be running off without her!. She isn’t fitting in well with the girls at the office and to top it all off, her best friend Cassie seems to have her lift figured out and has this whole adulting thing down pat.
When all of this seems to be coming to a head, James Harper comes back, and she is still getting the butterflies, much to her annoyance.
This sweet chick-lit is both highly entertaining, and very easy to read. I loved this from the first to the last. I would recommend any book club to place this on their reading list.
Stepping it Up by Bea Stevens is the second book in The Liberty Lawrence Series. I read the book in one sitting because it was to good to put down. Stepping it Up was very entertaining, funny and keeps you engaged from the first page till the last page. Ms. Stevens writing is witty, descriptive and has great dialogue. The characters are well developed, very believable and some that you could friends with in real life. Ms. Stevens keeps you reading due to all the action and keeping you confused to what is going to happen next. Which I thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait to read the next book in The Liberty Lawrence Series.
Stepping It Up by Bea Stevens is the 2nd book in the Liberty Lawrence Series. Although this is the 2nd book in the series I read it without having read the first book. It can be read as a standalone but I’m now intrigued as to what came before.
Liberty or Libby as she’s more commonly known has started a new job as an investigative reporter and has been assigned to work on the newsdesk with Dave Chandler who soon has Libby running all over the place…literally. Does this man know how to walk, or take a cab.
Libby’s real passion is fashion and her dream is to work with the fashion team on the newspaper. I have to admit that her obsession with fashion and the constant naming of designers really began to annoy me. As much as I loved the story, the constant name dropping really got on my nerves. Maybe it’s because fashion doesn’t interest me… I don’t know. However this didn’t stop me from enjoying the book as a whole.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Libby’s exploits in the office, especially with the catty office girls who didn’t seem to like her. Her friendship with Cassie, her best friend and roommate added much to the story. And lastly I loved reading about her growing romance with the very gorgeous James.
This is a quirky, funny read and I’d definitely recommend it to others.
Stepping It Up (The Liberty Lawrence Series Book 2) by Bea Stevens. I loved this book. Its endearing funny and keeps you turning the pages! It follows the day in life of Liberty Lawrence or Libby as everyone calls her. She works at the Daily Chronicle as a journalist but she’s only following a reporter right now. Dave Chandler is her mentor and she follows him all over literally running because Dave sees no reason to get taxis, its faster to just run there! Libby isn’t learning much from Dave because he’s very secretive about everything. Its almost like he doesn’t want her to learn. Her flatmate bestie is Cassie and she is doing great with her job and her boyfriend, Libby would like to be more like that. Libby’s boyfriend James Harper is a police detective and seems very distant to Libby. Libby just wants to win awards for her job and have a secure relationship with her boyfriend! Read Stepping It Up by Bea Steven and find out if Libby can Step up and get her life on track!

Bea Stevens continues the entertaining antics of Liberty “Libby” Lawrence in her second book ‘Stepping It Up’. Amusing from the beginning, who will not fall in love with Libby? From her quirkiness to her devotion to everything fashion, Ms. Stevens paints the perfect character for her story.
Libby Lawrence has a new job as a reporter, something she’s always wanted. Unfortunately, the job isn’t what she thought it was going to be. Paired up with Dave Chandler makes things even harder. Between trying to keep up with him (you try doing that in heels), his constant disappearing acts and the office girls who don’t seem to like her what’s a girl to do?
Ms. Stevens pens the amusing difficulties that Libby endures quite well. With characters that are vibrant and witty banter, this is a light-hearted, easy read that will keep you grinning from the first page until the last. I truly enjoyed Libby and her antics so much that I will definitely be picking up any other stories in this series to read!
Stepping it up by Bea Stevens
Three Stars
I really couldn’t get into this story. Don’t get me wrong it was well written. It just lacked passion and enthusiasm. Lib was a lackluster character. She let people practically walk all over her. It felt like she didn’t know how to assert herself and still be a nice and considerate person. The plot was little unclear to me. Overall it wasn’t too bad.
4 Stars
Stepping It Up is the second book in the Liberty Lawrence series by Bea Stevens. This is a charming, light-hearted and fun read that is entirely entertaining. This is the second book in the series, but you could read it as a standalone. But, having said that, I really recommend reading the first book before embarking on this read- because the first book introduces you to recurring characters, and lays out a foundation that the series will be built on. Plus, it’s a great read as well!
I loved Liberty, she loves fashion…. And shoe!! She’s also somewhat clumsy, fun, and a little off-beat….. making her very likeable and entirely relatable. This series follows her escapades, with some interesting and very entertaining results.
In this book, Libby has a new job as a reporter, which she had hoped would be the beginning of great things for her. But, things are not playing out the way she had hoped. For a start, she is teamed up with Dave Chandler and is supposed to be shadowing him. But, Dave proves to be challenging on several levels- as he loves to run everywhere he goes; and then to top it off, he sneaks off without her. Plus, she isn’t ‘fitting in’ at the office either, as the other women seem to dislike her. Also, her best friend Cassie seems to have her life on track and is doing quite well- making Libby feel even more off-keel. But, the most troubling thing for Libby is how much she likes James Harper, who we met in the previous book- but he’s just too side-tracked to notice, or care. Not one to give up so easily, Libby decides that it’s time she does something about her situation- it’s time she started Stepping it Up! And what transpires made for some really great reading. I would happily recommend this book/series to anyone looking for a great Chick Lit story, that is light on the drama, but not lacking in enjoyment!
Looking forward to book #3!
Thank you, Ms. Stevens!
I have not read anything by Bea Stevens before this novel. I jumped right in because, well I am a huge fan of brit-lit. I had no idea what I was going to get, but I am glad that I picked this up. This is the second book in The Liberty Lawrence Series, though I had no issues reading it as a standalone. Now that I enjoyed this one, I will go back and see what that one is all about.
In Stepping It UP Liberty Lawrence grips your attention from the very first chapter to the last. Liberty, or more referred to as Libby, has a new job as a reporter. She had high hopes for the position, but it turns out to be a bit of a letdown. Dave Chandler is the man that she is paired up with to shadow as training. Dave is not the easiest man to shadow, or get along with. Not only is he hard to keep up with, he often disappears on her. Things are exacerbated when the women in the office don’t seem to mesh with her either. When she needs the support of friends her best one, Cassie, is busy enjoying her new job position. To top it all off the man she has been crushing on, James, seems to be way too distracted to give a care.
After finally having enough, Libby sets out to fix the problems in her life and make things more enjoyable. Will she come out on top or will she find herself spinning in circles? Is love on the horizon?
Libby has a relatable story. Many adults have times in their lives where they just feel like everything is falling apart or not going the way they had hoped it would be. Following her on her journey to remedy the situations she is facing is an adventure you won’t want to miss out on.
Stepping It Up by Bea Stevens is the second book in her Liberty Lawrence series. This is a highly entertaining and witty story that is more relatable than you can imagine.
When Libby gets a new job as a reporter it should be the start of something great. However the job isn’t quite what she imagined it would be. She is paired alongside Dave Chandler and is told to shadow him. But Dave doesn’t make this easy when he runs everywhere he goes. Challenged with doing the same Libby is sure this must be against some kind of a discrimination policy. And as if the running weren’t bad enough Libby finds that he keeps sneaking off without her.
Add to this the fact that all the girls in the office don’t seem to like her and the job certainly isn’t shaping up to be what she expected. And to make matters worse her best friend Cassie seems to be really enjoying her new job.
The tipping point for her though is the fact that James – the guy she is attracted to – seems far too distracted to care. Deciding it is time to do something about it Libby determines to sort out her life. If it isn’t how she wants it to be then she will be doing something about it.
I really enjoyed this book. I found that it was so relatable. Who doesn’t go through a time where things are quite as they expected them to be? Who doesn’t go through times in their life where they decide enough is enough? It almost felt like I was this character all of a couple of years ago. The story was well put together and was entertaining from start to finish. Libby was written so well, she was a great and engaging characters. As the first book I have read by this author I can say I was impressed and will be looking into more of her work.
Stepping It Up (The Liberty Lawrence Series Book 2)

5 out of 5 stars
The story Stepping It Up (The Liberty Lawrence Series Book 2) by Bea Stevens is a book that I loved reading. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a story that is humorous and had me with either a smile on my face or laughing out loud. I love the character of Libby. She is a true woman of fashion and knows her labels. She has a new job as an investigative reporter which she finds challenging thanks to her mentor Dave Chandler and others who she works with. I have to say that Libby is one whose thoughts and opinions are formed quickly. There is never a dull moment when she is around. That she also cares for James Harper is of no doubt. I also loved the character of Cassie Beaumont, Libby’s best friend and roommate. She loves her new job and is one that Libby can turn to when she needs to talk. A day spent with Libby is not always what one would expect. She has her strong opinions and feelings. She is a truly unique person who is sassy and sweet. Read this story to find out how she works with others in the office, pieces together clues to questions that arise, and how her relationship with James is progressing. This is a well-written story that keeps the laughs coming and one that you will not want to miss out on reading. It is the second story in a series and I am looking forward to reading the next one.
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I found it to be funny and engaging. Her characters are both relateable and lovable. This book is about Libby. She is a sassy, witty character that makes the story flow into what it is. I enjoyed watching her grow throughout the story. Of course you can’t forget the attractive James who Libby is head over heals for. Is there a chance for a relationship? Read this book to find out! I highly recommend this book.
