Unfortunately for Stefan, he’s exactly what she hates. Stefan is a playboy to the extreme with one hard and fast rule: date a woman once, take her to bed, and be gone before morning. Until El. When he is the winning bidder at his brother … at his brother Simon’s charity auction, he thinks his dream of finding his one true mate has come true. Wrong. So very very wrong.
It’ll require drastic measures by the entire Le Beau family to make this mating happen.
Welcome to New Orleans, Louisiana, where every myth and scary story you were ever told is real. A place where the things that go bump in the night, or daytime for that matter, are surprisingly friendly. For the most part.
Take a good look at your neighbor, the person sitting beside you at the bar, or your coworker. Are you sure they’re human?

This story was pretty typical of shifter romance. It was easy to read and the characters were OK.
I loved this book. It as so well written. You can’t help but get emotionally invested in their relationship. Keep the tissues handy. It’s one heck of a ride.
Great Series!!
I haven’t finished this one. So far it’s been a bit unbelievable and hasn’t flowed the best.
Love the storyline and female independence. Read this 4 times.
Ended up loving the manwhore hero and hating the heroine.
Was very annoyed that no warning or mention of a RAPE scene is in the blurb.
Having read book one Cade, which I loved, I really wanted to read the rest of this series.
I saw this on offer and grabbed it before reading book two, which is very unlike me to be reading them out of order.
This started off so well but the continual negative actions of the heroine spoilt it for me. I could do a long rant but it would mean too many spoilers.
Overall a read that has me wishing it had been written differently timeline wise.
My reading enjoyment was ruined due to Els past being dragged on too long before the hero finds out and her unacceptable behaviour towards Stefan due to his being ignorant of what she had endured.
The heroine EL – We have an oxymoron for a heroine. Brave for what she did in college bringing these ratbags to justice and her fighting against Joe but a big coward for her treatment of Stefan.
El’s panic attacks and triggers create one hell of a mess.
The hero STEFAN – I dislike manwhores as heroes on principle but by two thirds of the way through this, I really liked Stefan and wanted him to have a different, much nicer mate.
For all it is made out that Stefan has slept once with every woman in the district this never comes to bite him in the butt. They never once run into an OW.
The first third of this book was great. A strong woman for a heroine who can take care of herself when attacked is something I love.
Reading the middle third, I came to loath El due to her behaviour.
The last third I liked the background story and the politics going on but was still not happy with El.
Yes, El suffered a trauma that no one should ever endure but to use that to hurt someone, hide rudeness and bad manners. Shame.
Stefan was a complete idiot at the beginning, acting the way he did. Just because El was his mate does not mean she felt the same way.
Stefan accidentally does something that causes El to be upset by bad memories. But as he doesn’t know about her past, he really is blameless. In apology he buys her some hugely expensive horse. El accepts his apology, then just acts mean towards Stefan after his grand and expensive apology and purposely sets out to embarrass him, just unacceptable. She doesn’t even tell Stefan what happened in her past to explain her reactions.
I actually really liked Stefan when he walked away from her rather than accept her emotionless offer of sex.
El then realised she loves him and we had a complete switch of attitude. Too late for me.
Yes, what happened to El should never happen to anyone but that does not negate her not telling Stefan earlier before they had sex.
I thought it stupid that Els past was not discussed till nearly the end. All the actions and misunderstandings could have been dealt with without all the stupid drama and overreaction.
Reduced my reading enjoyment to “you have got to be kidding me level”. Spoilt the book for me.
I love the goddess part and this world and enjoy the family interaction of this series.
Having read the blurb for Thomas and I do not think I can take anymore silliness. Not standing up to your mother at 200 years of age is just weird.
Loved the whole series.
Loved it
Hard to put down
I loved this book, it was warm and touching, such good characters, very good men you want on your side. Such spirit and understanding of a personality. Shifters are people to who have lives worth living. You picked a bunch of good creative and funny people to write about. Enjoyed all of it.
Good within the series. Enjoyable
Great story line kept turning pages til i fell asleep
I always enjoy reading V.A. Dold’s book this one was no exception. What i did not like was the over dramatization of Stefan and everyone fearing he would take his life or harm himself. What happen to the cool man, confidence here totally eroded.
El his supposed mate went through a lot of trauma in her life, you get over it and decide to move on, not this back and forth stuff.
This book was a Great read! I just loved Stefan’s personality. He is a character that everyone should love. I loved how he held on to the hope of love. Definitely a Book to recommend to others.
Fun story!!!
Love the fated mate storyline. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I have read 2 of the books in this series and enjoyed them both. Nice mix of fantasy and romance with fun characters.
Good read!
This was a good book, but the writing format was a little confusing. It was hard to determine the character point of view without reading a few paragraphs into each section.
Loved It..
