“A ghost mystery for readers who don’t usually enjoy the paranormal.” Pebble Cove is not the sleepy coastal town Rosemary remembers from her childhood. Ghosts are everywhere, and only she can see them. When Rosemary Woodmere inherits her estranged grandmother’s Victorian teahouse, she doesn’t expect to also inherit a ghost named Asher from the 1920s.Things get weirder for Rosemary. Her grandma was … weirder for Rosemary.
Her grandma was supposedly murdered.
A body washes up on the beach, and the police suspect her of the man’s murder.
She’s trying to navigate her newfound ability to talk to ghosts.
And she doesn’t even know the first thing about tea.
Rosemary’s experience as a librarian hasn’t prepared her to solve a murder, but everyone around her is steeped in suspicion, and she has to find the truth before someone else ends up dead.
Readers, this is the first book in a new cozy mystery series by Eryn Scott. These books are all clean with no gore and no swearing. The ghosts are the only paranormal aspect in the series. And there are definitely cats because … well, there has to be. 🙂

Such a wonderful book. I hated for it to end. Loved the characters and plot. Eryn Scott is such a amazing author.
I love reading her books. And this one is one of my favorites…
Loved it…
Great story! Wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy the paranormal aspect of it but it totally worked for the plot! Really enjoyed the development of our heroine as she flushed out her character and the criminals!
Looking forward to the next book.
Loved, loved, oved this book. I could not stop reading it and was sad when it was finished. The characters were delightful and felt like family. The ghosts that Rosemary interacted with were so complex and interesting that I cannot wait to read more about them. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
You will revel in the world building contained in this book. It totally immerses you into the small town and the life Rosemary’s grandmother lived. Then there are the characters, you will be pleasantly surprised at the love with which the characters are written. This book is a definite “Add to your reading pile”. Highly recommend.
This is the first book in a new series by Eryn Scott and it’s different from what I normally read. I’m not usually into ghosts (or spirits as Asher keeps insisting he is), but this was actually lots of fun to read! I liked watching Rosemary grow as she tried to solve a murder nobody thought was a murder. I enjoyed seeing how she developed relationships with the ghosts in the town, especially the previous cat mayor. Yeah, I know, but really, give it a read, I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of it, too. I was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Wow, I just loved this book. I enjoyed all the books in the authors other series Pepper Brooks Cozy Mystery and Stoneybrook Mysteries, so jumped at the chance of starting a new one, I didn’t even read the blurb. This meant I didn’t know the different direction the author was going to take with this series (non of her other series has a paranormal side to it) but I just loved it. The ghostly help really added to the investigation and were just a delight and the concept of a Cat being mayor is my kind of town. The human characters were just as much fun and definitely a group I am going to be spending time with. The mystery itself was good and I liked how just when you had things all wrapped up it takes a different turn and with a number of suspects there was already a number of them. A well thought out plot that I really enjoyed and have added to my audio book wish list. Off to start book two.
Rosemary returns to the coastal town of Pebble Cove after the death of her estranged Grandmother. She has inherited her not only her house but also her tea shop business. The problem is she has to share it with a ghost. Asher is from the 1920s and died during the war, he is also the first ghost she has meet. But that is not the most shocking thing she learn upon arrival first Asher drops the bombshell that her grandmother was murdered and then they find a dead body washed up on the shore. The police are quick to discover he has a connection with Rosemary, well a piece of paper with her number on. Not having visited the small town since she was a young girl, Rosemary will have to learn all about her new neighbours and the long running fueds or arguments her grandmother had. If Rosemary is to avoid being arrested she will also have to relie on help from the towns ghosts, which also includes Meow the cat who was the towns Mayor for a number of years and who her grandmother was a bit supporter of. Will solving the strangers death also lead to proof that her grandmother was murdered and eventually to her killer? And if she can see ghosts why hasn’t she seen the one person she wants to see most?
Loved loved loved this cozy! It got my attention right from the start and I zoomed through the whole thing in no time and ordered the second in the series right away. that is my definition of an enjoyable read! Thanks to Eryn Scott for time well spent.
I downloaded this without reading the blurb, thinking it was non-paranormal, and turns out, she can speak with ghosts, so that was a nice surprise. (as paranormals are my favorite lol trying to branch out!) It’s the cover though, this series has some of my favorite covers! Instant download just from the cover alone.
At first I was a bit leery of this feeling like everything that could have gone wrong in her life did (don’t want to give spoilers), but Rosemary has a lot of baggage. As the story went on, it does a great job at stretching all of those things out, and giving them the breath they need to not leave her seeming like a poor pitiful me type character.
I loved the flow of this story, it did a great job at introducing the town, and setting up the series. The mystery turns into two separate crimes, that has Rosemary talking to the majority of the townsfolk, and visiting many sites around town. I love this because it really let us get to know the area without any info dumping or out of place pop ins. The story does meander in places but it does it in a way that adds depth to Rosemary’s emotional turmoil. Not just with her current situation in Pebble Cove, but also the situation she left behind in Portland. She does so much growth in this one book, that the slow parts of the story help it feel like it takes place over a much longer span of time.
All of the characters are quirky, and well developed. They feel like people I’ve met in my own small town and I look forward to getting to know them in future books. I’m glad that the ghosts feel like they will be as much apart of the cast as the living. So many ghost type books leave them in the sidelines, only using them when it’s a must. But these ghosts enteract with Rosemary, same as the townsfolk. I was so EXCITED that romance was not apart of this book at all. YEEEESSSSS.
There were a few twists that I didn’t expect, but was totally screaming NO WAY, NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE when they were revealed. Not everything was solved, and I’m glad because it just makes who they surround a bigger part of the cast, which I was rooting for.
You’ll love this mystery if you love cozies that star a mid-twenties, educated sleuth who is working to find her own path in the world.
Nice start to a new series. I enjoyed this book very much. Rosemary, the main character, is likeable and clever. The town seems to be full of fun and quirky residents who will be fun to get to know in future books. I don’t usually choose paranormal cozies, but I’m glad I chose this one and will read the rest of the series. I love the ghost, Archer.
I have not usually enjoyed stories with ghosts in them. But, this author won me over to allow for such things. Simply put, I just grew to like the characters, the setting, and the backstory of each. A pleasant evening read.
Super cute book and easy read!
Rosemary’s grandmother left her home and tea shop to her in her will. Rosemary hasn’t been there for a long time since her mother and grandmother were estranged a long time ago. Pebbled Cove is a small fishing town where Rosemary has fond memories of the grandmother’s beach house/tea shop and the ocean until the falling out with her mother. What Rosemary aka Rosie didn’t know is she can communicate with ghosts. She finds that out when she returns. Then she believes her grandmother was murdered. But then so were others. Why? The sheriff thinks Rosie killed the guy she found dead on the beach. Rosie also makes friends with Asher- a ghost and Mayor Meow another ghost. Things get pretty complicated, but can she find anyone who will believe her? I enjoyed this story very much and am looking forward to the next one!
Well written, good character development. After I read the first one, I read the next two immediately. Looking forward to the next one and more from this series.
Enjoyed it. Hope there will be more
I enjoy the series. Looking forward to reading the rest.
A charming ghost story. I really enjoyed this author, whom I had not read before.
A fun mystery!
This book is entertaining and I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next.
I really enjoyed this book.
If you need to escape reality, this book is for you.
So–I wouldn’t mind a ghost-friend like Asher.
