Wow!! Fantastic book!! Sweet and suspenseful!!
I freaking love Devney and when I found out she was writing an MC romance I was so excited. I love Devney’s style of writing and I knew her doing MC would blow my mind. Just from the cover and blurb alone this story sounded amazing and right up my street.
In true Devney style, her characters were well written and the attention to detail with the character traits shone through. The storyline flowed well, leaving us with a few questions that I know will be answered in the next book. I have to say that Gypsy King isn’t a typical MC romance, where they are usually heavy on the club and danger, this story focused more on the after life of a club disbanding. Now don’t get me wrong, Devney was able to write a story that took us on a wild ride that left me feeling wind swept.
Devney knows how to write strong, independent woman and our heroine Bryce fits the criteria perfectly. Having returned home she is on a mission to find out the real reason why the Tin Gypsy’s shut up shop. I instantly connected felt connected with Bryce, she has that stubborn streak and drive to get the story, that I loved. She knew how to stand her ground and often got the better of our alpha hero Dash.
Dash (such a swoon worthy name) is your lowkey alpha, who is just trying to keep a live a quiet life after all the drama and illegal activities he performed for Tin Gypsy, that is until his father is arrested for murder and a sexy journalist starts asking too many questions. This strong, fierce and protective character gripped me from the start.
Together Bryce and Dash were explosive. You could feel the instant chemistry from their first meeting and the constant one up man ship game that they played, lead to some laugh out loud moments. When they finally put their heads together and work as a team, you can feel their relationship develop into this all-consuming love affair and I bloody loved it.
This was a great story and a new style of writing from Devney that I adore. I can’t wait for book two, Raven Knight, when I’m hoping we find out more details about Dash’s dad and the new couple. Overall, this was a great start to a new series, while it’s not your typical MC romance it still has the edginess, grittiness and strong characters that you often find with MC romances.
Wow! Denvey Perry shocked me by writing an MC but let me tell you, it was AMAZING. Just the right amount of sexy, mystery, and motorcycles combine to make Gypsy King one h*ll of a ride! I am dying for Riven Knight and more to the story!
I received an ARC from Wildfire Marketing and Devney Perry for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Bryce is determined to find out whether the Tin Gypsies MC has really shut their doors for good or have gotten even better at keeping secrets so far hidden that they have the town fooled into thinking they are law abiding citizens. After hearing about a murder and Dravnen’s name Bryce is determined to get in with Dash to find out what really is going on. Dash decides to work with Bryce on clearing his father’s name, but what happens when his heart starts falling for her hard. Will Dash be able to show Bryce that he has grown up and they can be in a good relationship? Will Bryce choose this story over her relationship or be able to get down to the bottom of things and keep the guy?
“Now you make a decision. You take all this and decide how deep you want to go. You believe me or you don’t. You trust me or you don’t. You keep it quiet or you don’t.”
I loved Bryce. To be honest I had to reread the chapter a few times, because I am an honest person and thought I was reading a MM book. However, Bryce is one bad*** lady and I am thankful to have read her story.
I had missed this side of Devney Perry. I love her writing of romance with a touch of suspense. She writes such great men and woman. Not many authors could write an alpha motorcycle riding man with a vulnerable side. Devney can and she did.
Let me just say that I really really wanted Dash and Draven to get their own series after being teased with their not so little saving in The Clover Chappel. I am so happy Dash got his book and the girl! I can’t read to read the rest of the books in this series and recommend this series to anyone who likes a little suspenseful contemporary romance.
Bryce Ryan has recently relocated to small town Clifton Forge, Montana. After an unsatisfactory career in Seattle in television she has gone back to her first love of newspaper journalism and is now working with her father on the local paper. After a couple of months of reporting the mundane ‘hatch, match & dispatch” notices she’s hungry for a story she can get her teeth into and has her sights set firmly on the now defunct Gypsy Kings Motorcycle Club and it’s former president Kingston “Dash” Slater. Dash, however, is a man who has put his unsavoury past behind him and is determined to let sleeping dogs lie no matter how attracted he is to the journalist
Gypsy King is the first book in Tin Gypsy, a new series from Devney Perry and what a fantastic way to begin. This book has everything starting with an amazing eye-catching cover. Throw in an enemies to lovers romance and a storyline that is full of mystery, suspense and all the intrigue of a classic whodunnit and I’m sold. The hero and heroine are well written with a palpable chemistry between them even though it was hate at first sight…. well maybe make that second sight only after Dash found out Bryce was a journalist. There is also a strong supporting cast of characters who look set to have their own stories told in future books.
This book does end on a semi-cliffhanger but fortunately for the reader, Ms Perry isn’t an author who keeps her fans waiting too long for her next book.
Every book by Devney Perry is a masterpiece! Gypsy King is a page-turning, suspense-packed, I-don’t-want-to-put-this-down read! Less than a week until Riven Knight is out, and I cannot wait!
Great story and start to a new series. Plus, I loved Bryce and Dash.
Can’t wait for books two and three.
** Audiobook review **
I am not normally drawn towards MC stories. But when I saw that Devney was writing it, I figured I would give it a shot. And it was so much more than I expected. The characters were very good and I enjoyed the suspenseful nature of the story. The narration was done by two of the best romance narrators and they totally brought this story to life. I’m looking forward to more of the series and a highly anticipated Isaiah story coming up next.
***4,5 “You kind of snuck up on me!!!” stars***
“I’d fallen in love with the man I’d once hoped to expose as a criminal.”
“She was it for me. She was the woman I hadn’t known I’d needed. My partner in crime. My confidant. My heart.”
Wow!!! This might be an MC book that isn’t looking like an MC book!!! LOL!!!
Well, I am sooo embarassed, but this was my first book by Devney Perry… Even though, i’m wanting like crazy to read many other books of hers!!!
I loved it!!! I really did!!!
This story was a beautiful mix of romance with much suspense… The characters were sooo intriguing… All of them!!! And i can not wait for more!!! I also need some answers for things that i didn’t get!!!
“Live to Ride. Wander Free.”
Bryce is new to town… She is a reporter and with her father they own the town’s newspaper!!!
Bryce is young and she is chasing the big news… She is determined to find out all the story behind the Tin Gypsies, the former ruthless MC in town whom the last years had close down…
And a way to learn more about them is through Dash and his crew….
And then, a murder is happening in their small town and Dash’s father is the main suspect!!! Now, it’s the time for her to shine!!!!
“And what’s your real name?” He smiled, dropping my hand.
“That’s a secret I only tell a woman after she’s let me buy her a beer.”
“Pity. I only drink beer with a man after I know his real name.”
“”Are you really that afraid I’ll find something?”
“Yes.” My answer—and the truth in that single word—caught her off guard.”
Dash is living a different life the last years from the one he was leading before…
He is still trying to adjust and then his father is going to prison for a murder that Dash is sure that he didn’t committ and this noisy new reporter is sniffing around them and he is afraid that some secrets of the past will come to light and they will get in real trouble…
Also, it doesn’t help the fact that he is drawn toward Bryce… He just have to make her be by his side and not against him in this chasing of the truth!!!
“We’d rid the world of evil men, even though we’d been devils in our own right.”
“Bryce was not easy by any stretch. She was tough. She made me laugh with her wit and sass. She challenged me. And when she wasn’t pissing me off, she was turning me on.”
Bryce and Dash had a rocky start, but the pull between them was too big to be ignored…
But what will happen if they succumb to their carnal insticts???
Will become allies or greatest enemies when they get at the end of this story???
“Now you make a decision. You take all this and decide how deep you want to go. You believe me or you don’t. You trust me or you don’t. You keep it quiet or you don’t.”
“Damn this woman. I liked her. That was my real problem. I liked her. Which was going to make threatening her a hell of a lot harder. That, and she didn’t seem to be intimidated by me one bit.”
“We’d only shared a single kiss, but he was right. Given the sparks that crackled when we were in the same room, we’d be incredible together. The chemistry, mixed with our mutual dislike of one other, would ignite like fireworks. We’d probably set the sheets on fire.”
God… I loved Dash and Bryce!!!
He was rough around the edges and he had lived a ton of bad things in his past…
I liked how devoted he was in his loved ones and I loved the way he was approaching Bryce!!!
Bryce was a badass chick. She was fearless in a way and she knew how to do her job really good!!!
But she was reckless and she was taking huge risks to get in the root of what she was looking for!!!
Together they were pure fire!!!! But they were having too many issues to get through!!!!
“It wasn’t black and white, this world he’d pulled me into. There wasn’t a clear-cut line between right and wrong, not like I’d believed before.”
“All the foolish days and nights I’d spent wondering if I’d end up an old maid had been for nothing. The timing simply hadn’t come together. I’d been waiting for my Gypsy King.”
Can’t wait for the next book!!! I’ve read the first chapter and wow!!! I’m so curious of what had led Isaiah and Genevieve in that arrangement and i’m so curious for both of them separately, cause they intrigued me as characters in this book!!!!
“We aren’t good men, Bryce.”
“Maybe. But you’re a good man to me.”
“You sure about that?”
Gypsy King was a fantastic story with wonderful characters and a thrilling suspense element happening. I absolutely loved it! I was on the edge of my seat as everything unfolded. There was drama, intensity, and heat! I couldn’t get enough.
I really enjoyed this story. Bryce was likeable and a strong heroine who could joke her own. I liked that she seemed to be sure of herself and wasn’t dependent on Dash for finding who she was. Dash and Bruce together was a perfect fit. I loved how they complimented each other. This the the first book I have read from this author and I am saying to read her other series. The writing just sucks you right in and before you know it your immersed in a world Devney has created.
A great start to a new series! I loved Dash and Bryce’s chemistry and banter. They start off as enemies, but the spark they have can’t be denied. I also enjoyed the suspense storyline and can’t wait to read the next book.
In Gypsy King, Devney Perry introduces us to Clifton Forge, Montana—a town that is small, but thrives with secret histories and untold stories centered on its dismantled motorcycle club, Tin Gypsy. Intertwined with an undeniably thrilling mystery and intense, suspense-filled atmosphere, this author created a near flawless enemies to lovers romance that held my undivided attention.
“We’d rid the world of evil men, even though we’d been devils in our own right.”
Former MC President, Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater is charming and protective—a dangerous, irresistible combination that will send your heart soaring and incite stomach-induced fluttering butterflies. Once unaffected by misconduct and lawlessness, Dash’s traded in criminal behaviour and now manages a humble, honest mechanic shop.
Passionate and resolute, Bryce Ryan is determined to create a headline that will enrapture her audience and escalate her career status. Bryce’s adamant attitude to succeed combined with a considerable strength and formidable stance creates a fierce, but stubborn contender. However, underneath her persistence lies a fast witted and loving woman with soft understanding.
“We’d only shared a single kiss, but he was right. Given the sparks that crackled when we were in the same room, we’d be incredible together. The chemistry, mixed with our mutual dislike of one other, would ignite like fireworks. We’d probably set the sheets on fire.”
Dash and Bryce have a connection constructed with indescribable, heated chemistry and fortified by an inevitable transition into reliance when they focus on unravelling a murder. I love the zeal; the fervent hate to love and slow burn romance they cultivated and allowed to flourish into something profound.
I have minor issues with this series’ introduction—the rushed romance; Dash’s unrealistic personality change; and the unresolved murder conclusion. Gypsy King isn’t that dark and the motorcycle feature is limited, but this author’s writing is flawless and her ability to weave a narrative deserves to be recognised.
Holy hell!!! This is my first Devney Perry book but it certainly won’t be my last! I loved watching the relationship develop between Bryce and Dash. They were explosive from the very first encounter and they never burned out. I can’t believe I waited so long to take the Devney plunge but now I’m a convert. By Laura
4.5* Dash and Bryce’s story is a fabulous beginning to the Tin Gypsy series.
Gypsy King may be read as a stand alone but something tells me Riven Knight, which will be available January 21, is or will be on everyone’s TBR.
The Tin Gypsy motor cycle club is no more, so don’t expect to read your typical MC book. The Gypsy King is romantic suspense and dang it left some loose ends (not a cliffhanger) that I hope will be resolved in one of the upcoming Tin Gypsy books.
Bryce is a take no nonsense, curious reporter and Dash is the very private, former Tin Gypsy Club President. Their push and pull, witty relationship is one you won’t want to miss.
Devney Perry has knocked another one out of the park!
Devney Perry brought her A game with this one!! Secrets, lies, murder, betrayal, enemies to lovers, you name it, and we got it. Gypsy King will have you holding your breath at the last minute and trying to solve the mystery that has plagued every single character.
After spending years being on camera and telling stories whether it was positive or heartbreaking news, Bryce has decided that it was time for a change. Moving back home to her hometown and now part owner of a newspaper with her father, things are now starting to get on track for this thirty year old. But when there’s news of a brutal murder that involves the father who was once the owner of a notorious motorcycle gang, things are about to get messy.
Dash has seen and done things in his lifetime that were not pretty. After years of looking over shoulder and wanting to be a better man, he’s now an honest law abiding citizen with a good business. When he meets a feisty brunette at his garage, Dash knows that this woman is different and he likes what he sees. But knowing that she’s the new reporter and is on the hunt to find out about the past, getting involved with her could not only be catastrophic, but dangerous.
had no clue what I was getting myself into when I started this story and I was ok with that. I loved that the author gave us something more to Dash and Bryce’s relationship and there was a mystery to what happened with the murder that changed a lot of lives and reignited a past. My only complaint was that I was expecting the story to be a bit darker and more gritty but that’s just my preference.
Seeing that this is the first book in the Gypsy series, this is off to an excellent start and I cannot freakin wait for book 2( different characters)!! If you’re a fan of enemies to lovers with a bit of mystery to it, then this book will be perfect for you.
ARC received for an honest review.
Book 1 in the new Tin Gypsy series from Devney Perry is here! Romance, action and a strong heroine all packed into one. Plus, that COVER!! <3
If like me you are a fan of Devney’s Jamison Valley Series then you will love this new series.
I was expecting an MC book but that wasn’t quite what I got and that isn’t a criticsm at all. We meet Dash and his dad Draven in The Clover Chapel which was his brother Nick’s story. Dash was the President to the Gypsy Kings MC until it disbanded the year before. This book was more of a murder mystery which I absolutely loved and was on the edge of my chair throughout waiting to see what would happen next.
Bryce is the new reporter in town. She has come to work with her father a the local paper and her curiosity is peaked over the MC and as to why they disbanded. After dropping in to visit the garage Dash owns she stumbles across a huge story when his dad is arrested for Murder.
I loved the connection between Dash and Bryce, the fight that goes on inside each of them to try to deny it is hot. When they finally do give into their feelings your kindle will steam up!!
As always Devney has done a great job with this start to a new series. She has me completely hooked and totally excited to see what she is going to bring us next as there are still some unanswered questions from this book I am excited to see playout.
I was a virgin with Devney Perry books. ‘Gypsy King’ was my first book written by her and I totally love it!
‘Gypsy King’ gives me everything, what I want from motocycle club books. This book is addictive, obssessing and tough, but we also have a sweet love in this story. I loved every second, every page of this book! ‘Gypsy King’ is a first book in ‘Tin Gypsy’ series and I can’t wait for the next book in series!
I love this cover too! Is different and original. My eyes were catched by this cover and I really need all series on my bookshelf! They will look pretty!
I really like Bryce. She is a strong woman with ambitions. She is doing everything she wants to do and she never stop. We need more powerful girls in books and we have them! Big ovation for Devney Perry!
Dash is a typical bad boy, but he is also a fragile, protective lover. He has two faces. He can love you, but in danger he will be an alpha. I like this guy. Really.
‘Gypsy King’ is something new in books. I like every page with this story and when I was reading, I can’t put this book down. As I wrote, I can’t wait for second book and I recommend this story!
JUST WOW
This is a different level of Devney Perry’s writing…
Gripping, Intense, full of drama
and have you seen the cover? Damn it’s HOT!
Hands down an easy 5 stars and more
