I really have no words for Gypsy King. The suspense was killer. I enjoyed the deep hatred, turned lust turned love between Bryce and Dash. I loved every word about this book. I am glad I got some small snippets from my favorite Jameson Valley peeps!! I knew that Dash and Bryce were going to be amazing and I was not disappointed.
I loved the flow, the suspense and the plot twists! Truly another amazing story!! And now I need Riven Knight to happen immediately so I can get some questions answered!!!
The Gypsy King is the start to what is looking like another fantastic series by one of my favorite authors! Bryce Ryan had recently relocated to Clifton Forge and became co-owner with her father, of the Clifton Forge Tribune and she is hungry for a story. The now disbanded MC, the Tin Gypsies, has been on her radar and she was determined to prove they are not as squeaky clean as they have been portraying themselves to be in the past year. Her determination is strengthened when she learns of a brutal murder that had taken place in town and to the connection to the former MC. She sees this as her big break and she was determined to get the full story. I think this was where I was starting to get a bit nervous, I honestly was not sure how I was going to feel about Bryce. There was a part of me that was fascinated and loved her drive and fierceness, but I was also so afraid she was going to be blinded by it too. But I should know by now that this author would never steer us wrong. Dash Slater, the last president, has a lot to do with making Bryce start to question herself. I fell for Dash from the very beginning. He was cocky and arrogant, and he now had a lot on his plate, but something about him was just so swoon worthy. Even though Bryce was causing a lot of havoc in Dash’s life, he could not help but love her fire and tenacity. The chemistry between these two was off the charts and once they were together, it was explosive.
As the story moved along, there were so many twists and turns, with secrets being revealed and some yet to come. This book does not end on a cliffhanger, but it looks like there is a continuing story. There is a fabulous epilogue with Dash and Bryce and a bonus epilogue too!!
Overall, the storyline, the chemistry, the awesome secondary characters and the happily ever after for Bryce and Dash was a page tuner and I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
Devney Perry, you are sheer genius! Please keep writing all the wonderful stories in that gorgeous mind of yours! When you said you were writing a MC book, I was salivating! This book was amazing! This story takes place after the Tin Gypsies have disbanded. Sparks will fly between Bryce Ryan, the new journalist in town, and Kingston “Dash” Slater, whose father is arrested for killing a woman at the local hotel. Will Bryce get her story or her man? This book had me on the edge of my seat! It does not end on a cliffhanger, but the story will continue in Riven Knight! I for one will be waiting with bated breath to read this next installment! One of the best books I have read this year—5 amazing stars!
Just WOW! How Devney comes up with these stories amazes me! She has this unique ability to make me get so frustrated with certain characters but then is able to completely turn it around to where I cannot get enough. Her stories always pull me in and leave a lingering feeling in my soul. I can’t wait to see where she takes us with the next installment of this series. A must-read!
Devney Perry does it again! She took what should be a simple romance and shook it up, tumbled it out into a jumble of emotions that had me wavering between every feeling I’ve ever experienced, and then pulled it all back into a perfect place of peace and joy and pure ecstasy.
Bryce just wants to write that one amazing story that will put her name out there as having been more than a simple news woman. Her ticket to success lies in uncovering the true reason why the Tin Gypsies Motorcycle Club disbanded. But when she stumbles across a tip that could lead to a juicy bit of headline, she doesn’t hesitate to charge forward. Perhaps in doing so she’ll eventually learn the truth about the infamous club.
Dash fell for Bryce the minute he saw her at his garage. Immediately he puts on the flirt and she seems to respond. And then it really hits the fan. Suddenly, he’s got his hands full and no real progress to help him out. Bryce keeps upping him and he wants nothing more than to beat her at her own game. If only he didn’t keep thinking about everything else he wants to do with her along the way.
I absolutely loved how Bryce was quick to turn the tables on Dash each time he thought he had one up on her.
’Everything about her pissed me off because of my body’s reaction.
…
Damn this woman. I liked her. That was my real problem. I liked her. Which was going to make threatening her a hell of a lot harder. That, and she didn’t seem to be intimidated by me one bit.’
She was quick and sharp, witty and fun, soft and understanding. I loved everything about her. Even as her determination forced her in one direction, she wasn’t obstinate enough to not see the truth, even if there was no true evidence to support it. While I love a tough heroine, I need her to yield to the softer things in life. And Bryce knew just when to do so.
’Bryce was not easy by any stretch. She was tough. She made me laugh with her wit and sass. She challenged me. And when she wasn’t pissing me off, she was turning me on.’
Dash is that hero that you’ll absolutely love even when you want to smack him upside the head at times because immediately following that smack, you’ll want to give him a big ol’ hug. He’s a convoluted character that will have your emotions riding a rollercoaster. His frustration with Bryce had me laughing out loud but when things take a turn in his life, I had to fight back the tears. Never have I read a hero that was able to wring so many emotions from me.
Together, Bryce and Dash are like lighting a fire to gasoline. Even as they bicker and argue they are only a breath away from ignition.
’My threat to her livelihood hadn’t done a goddamn thing except turn us both on. Was she ever going to back down?’
Their banter was fun and their battles delicious because I knew that behind it all was a chemistry that was sure to light the pages on fire once they let loose. And holy heck did it!!! They don’t have an easy road to travel and there were times that this story was intense, and heavy and I couldn’t stop reading even as I felt the need to just take a breath because it was breaking my heart. This author never does things the way you expect, and such is the case with Bryce and Dash.
What a perfect beginning for this new series! I laughed, I raged, I cried, and then I settled into the perfect epilogue with a smile.
Oh WOW This story is incredible.
I was hooked from the start.
Bryce and Dash are sort of enemies..who decide to join forces to catch a killer and help Dash’s Father stay out of jail.
Their attraction between them though is hard to ignore and soon they give in to the chemistry.
But there are so many twists, questions and danger they didn’t see coming,as Dash’s family’s past of being members of the Tin Gypsy MC comes back to haunt them.
I loved this story,I was gripped and very intrigued how this book would play out..Devney Perry’s Storytelling is simply captivating and it had me hanging on every word.
A Brilliant suspenseful Romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I Highly recommend it .
5 stars.
I’m screaming at myself for waiting so long to listen to this book. This story is full of interesting things, so many twists and turns. This author has become a one clicked author for me, her books are entertaining, funny, sexy and the stories stay with me. Another beautiful story, great start to a new series by author Devney Perry.
READ THIS BOOK!
I wrote this review in 2 parts. The first section I wrote after 5 chapters then the rest of the review after I finished so please read the entire review as things changed for me!
For the first time in my life I am savoring a book. I read 150-250 books per year and usually I am
eager to read them start to finish as fast as possible to get to the end, to get to the “good part”, or simply to know the entire story. The Gypsy Kings has changed that. I have found myself reading a chapter at a time, turning my kindle off with a smile on my face and just savoring what I just read. The chemistry between Dash and Bryce is palpable from their first meeting. I am enjoying the banter as well as the heat. Aside from the usual books I read, which I love, The Gypsy Kings has an intriguing story apart from the love connection hopefully brewing! (I am writing this after chapter 5- which speaks for itself since writing reviews for me is usually like going to the dentist.) I never want this book to end! I am enjoying it so much I KNOW without a doubt whatever I read after this will pale in comparison. I am enjoying slowly reading this story and taking in every detail and encounter. The mystery, the chemistry and the fact that Devney Perry has given us an intelligent , independent, and loving heroine has me completely enchanted with Gypsy Kings already.
I have now finished Gypsy King and one thing I wrote in my initial part of the review is no longer accurate! After chapter 6 I COULD not, WOULD not, put this book down! I enjoyed being a turtle (you know, slow and steady wins the race thing) and for the first time ever, reading slowly to let it all sink in, BUT, after that Devney’ s magic captured me and I had to keep going. The chemistry, the buzz, the intrigue made stopping impossible! WHO IS THE KILLER?? I need to know! (I think my exact words were Screw everything I said about savoring this. Cancel Sunday cuz I’m not stopping!!!) I love the fact that Bryce and Dash get their resolution as a couple in this book but that the story continues. The Next book, Riven Knight, is a new couple but not a stand alone as the mystery continues. Devney Perry’s writing only gets better and better and the fact that she braves a new genre, and does it well, only proves that she deserves the Best Selling Author title she has earned!
Bryce has moved to town to help her Dad at the local newspaper. She is after the big story and thinks the Tin Gypsies are going to be her big break. Dash Slater is a former President of the Tin Gypsies and owner of the Clifton Forge Garage. He and his mechanics are busy building custom bikes and classic cars. Can Bryce uncover their secrets before he steals her heart?
I have read this author before but wasn’t sure about the MC theme of the series. Decided the other day to give them a try and have loved them! Loving the bad boys turned good guys who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty to protect those they love. There is mystery, suspense, plenty of steam and some falling in love. Jumped right into book 2.
**4.5**
Bryce is running the local paper in Clifton Forge, she is co-owner with her dad, and she is determined to get the story on why the local MC disbanded about a year ago. She is convinced that there is a story and won’t stop until she gets to the bottom of it. What she wasn’t expecting was to fall for the sexy as sin former MC pres, Dash Slater. Dash can’t get Bryce out of his head even if she is trying to unearth all the club’s secrets to get juicy byline. But when the town is rocked by a tragedy where Bryce and Dash are both looking for answers they are forced to work together. We all know what happens next . . . . .
This one started off slow for me. I don’t know what it was. Maybe me? But I struggled to engage but I persevered and am I oh so glad that I did. The push and pull and tension and chemistry between Dash and Bryce was top notch. I loved how strong both of these characters were. They were both strong and stubborn and fierce and oh so perfect for each other. I really respected and loved how Bryce grew the more she learned. I also loved how the more Dash learned the more he became a giant teddy bear. And even though I always need to know all the things I am loving that there were things left open to continue through the series. I am looking forward to seeing where this goes.
This is the 1st book I read by Devney Perry. I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 2 because it didn’t grab my interest.
This book is a great start to this series. It grabbed my attention right from the start and kept it until the final page. Bryce Ryan is a journalist for the Clifton Forge Tribune, a newspaper she co-owns with her parents. Kingston “Dash” Slater, owner of Clifton Forge Garage and former member of the Tin Gypsy MC. These two are like oil and water. They hate each other with a vengeance, until they don’t. After a murder in their little town Bryce and Dash stay at each other’s throats all the time. It seems they can’t seem to agree on anything at all, until that one time in the garage. Yeah, they both agree that one time was pretty was pretty great. The chemistry between these two is off the charts HOT and soon they find out they can work better together than apart. I enjoyed Dash and Bryce’s story and can’t wait to see what’s coming in book 2 of this series.
I don’t know why it took me so long to start reading this book. I should have known that it was going to be great!! Devney has a way of pulling you into the book!
Total cliché coming right at you babes! Sons of Anarchy has been and is still one of my top 3 shows EVER! When I went to read the blurb on this all I saw was “The former Tin Gypsy motorcycle club…” and I was purchasing this bad boy. Since I had no experience whatsoever with MC’s other than that show I assumed this book would be like that and in certain ways it was but in others I was way off base.
This book is the perfect combination of small town, MC’s and romance. This is a troupe I will 100% be looking for more books on. I took a chance not only this book but on Devney Perry because this is the first book I have read by her and it will not be the last.
FIVE STARS FOR THE TIN GYPSY MC!!!
Hum… I wanted more. This is a very confounding story. It is well written and flows nicely. It has thought out characters and a somewhat interesting plot but it is lacking.
It is an MC read without an MC. The men are bikers, without a club or a cut, or a clubhouse or well, anything but a bike and a friendship.
This is a murder mystery with out an explanation. There is no conclusion to the mystery, no answers; even after 400 plus pages.
A romance without the romance. The fade to black scenes didn’t brother me because the two characters did have chemistry. It was the way the romance came together, it read forced to me and I never felt like these two really wanted each other, like they were really soul mates. More like, they found the other attractive and they had chemistry so why not?
Kingston/King/Dash: he was a bada** biker with anger issues, violence and get yet now he is kind and soft and nice and nothing like a gritty biker. He was president of the MC but now he is just a mechanic with a personality transplant that makes him boring and not at all alpha. He changes his mind about life decisions (marriage, babies, commitment) in a dime and there is no explanation that makes sense in the story so it feels false.
Bryce: She is a tough journalist with morals and values except none of those come out in this story. She breaks the law, doesn’t keep an open mind, is determined to put a man away for murder because she needs to prover herself to herself and doesn’t for the life of her care about the innocence of the man. She is weak and annoying and selfish and rude and… She lives in a very small town full of gossip but doesn’t know the simplest things like how was president of the MC when it was still an MC.
I also has issues with the other characters in the story not fitting with their roles or their importance within the story. Why give them page space if they are going to be hollow?
Within the story there are things repeated time and time again and not always with the same facts. How the MC came to be was different each time it was mentioned, the plot was predictable and boring and there was so much time in-between where the action SHOULD have been that the story was lackluster.
I am disappointed because this story had so much potential, it has the characters, the plot and the pages but yet nothing was resolved at the ends. It was a story is just missing way too much; it’s just so empty. Rated 2.5 stars for the writing and the potential. I might look up spoilers to find all the answers to the questions I am left with. I will read more from this author in the future, this story just wasn’t for me.
Devney Perry shot to the top of my automatic 1-click author’s list from the moment I finished The Birthday List a few years ago. Something about her writing resonates with me. But I have to admit I was very wary about starting the Tin Gypsy series. I am NOT an MC romance girl. So I debated. It wasn’t technically an MC romance book, and it was a new favorite author, so I took the plunge while I had some time during quarantine. And I’ve re-read the entire series at least once since then. And as I type this, I’m considering another re-read as we approach release day for the next book in the series. I’m getting ahead of myself, though.
While I’ve loved all of the books so far, it’s Bryce and Dash’s story that is still my favorite. These two are about as stubborn as they come. Oil and water couldn’t be more opposite. Yet the chemistry is off the charts from the moment they meet, and the sparks fly with each encounter after that. Eventually, they combust. When the flames die down, nothing is as it was expected to be.
I’m a romantic suspense lover and have been for a very long time. This book was so satisfying to my soul on so many levels. I mean, I’ve read it twice in a year and am considering a 3rd time before the next release. That’s probably all you need to know right there. Even if you aren’t an MC romance fan like me, I think you’ll find that it’s far enough removed from that that you’ll enjoy the unique storyline of this book and the entire series.
I give Gypsy King by Devney Perry 5 out of 5 stars!
Wow! I really enjoyed reading this! This is my first book by Devney Perry and I am totally hooked! I didn’t know what to expect at all when I decided to read it except a lot of recommendations and I was not disappointed! Devney Perry is such a great writer! I was constantly thinking because it was a murder mystery. And although we haven’t found out who the bad guy is yet and I’m left with so many questions she ended this book a great note! I’m so excited to read book 2!
NO SPOILERS!
Oh my gosh, I am seriously kicking myself right now for not starting the Tin Gypsy series sooner! Holy cow, talk about a thrilling, addictive ride. I don’t often read romantic suspense, but Devney Perry absolutely knocked it out of the park with Gypsy King and I freaking loved it.
Sexy and suspenseful with amazing, lovable characters and a storyline that kept me riveted and on my toes, Dash and Bryce’s story was a MUST READ and completely exceeded my expectations. I am pumped to have found this series and am so freaking excited to continue it in Riven Knight!
I’ve read Devney Perry before, and loved everything I’ve read so far, so I’m not entirely sure why I waited to read this one. I picked this up to read as part of a Reading Challenge, and now, I’m hooked on this series. From what I can tell, most of the characters from future books make brief appearances in this one, and I have to know what happens with them.
I really loved Dash and Bryce together. I was midway through the book, when I realized the character connection to The Clover Chapel, book 2 in this author’s Jamison Valley series. I love it when authors connect their books through these small details.
Although, there is a few steamy scenes on the page, most is only implied. I really enjoyed this because I love a good steamy scene, but I also enjoyed how, in doing this, the author drew more attention to the storyline, and it was a great storyline!
The Tin Gypsy world is so well built. The suspense is movie-worthy, and the character details are very thorough. After the book ended, I felt like I was saying goodbye to friends, but that bonus scene, was a great send off!
I listened to this book in audio, and I have to say the narrators did an amazing job bringing this story to life. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorites, and no surprise, he sounded fantastic as Dash.
This is the first audio I’ve heard with Ava Erickson, that I’m aware of, and she was outstanding as Bryce. I’m now a huge fan, and I’ll definitely be searching for audio she voices in the future.
*4 Stars*
It took me a while to get into this book, probably until at least 40%, but once I did, I found it to be quite interesting. I wasn’t sure how the author was going to get our main characters to a point where they actually wanted to be together, considering how their story starts out.
There are a quite a few mysteries in this one, some which continue into the next book. If you want an ongoing series, give this one a go, just don’t expect all the answers right away. Our two main characters are both likeable enough, especially once you warm up to them, although thats not to say I disliked them at any point. I just needed to get into the story a bit, which may be a personal thing.
I like the world this is set in, and I am really keen to find out what happens next. The final parts of this book really ramp up and whilst we get some great stuff for Dash and Bryce, the underlying mystery is still going. I’ve already dived into the next book.
Oh, and can we take a second to appreciate the gorgeous cover?
