Enemies-to-Lovers. Romantic Suspense. MC Romance.
I fell in love with Devney’s novels from the moment I opened the first book and have been devouring each book since. Gypsy King is a little bit different than the authors previous books as it is much more suspenseful, but honestly, it’s also just as good. Normally I don’t care for romantic suspense novels but Devney weaves it in a way that holds my interest. I read this one in a day because of this. While I felt like there was something missing in the story (I feel like there were some major unanswered questions pertaining to the big showdown) this is still a solid read. I think fans of Devney Perry are going to really enjoy this one.
Whether she writes sweet, solid romances about second chances and undying love or a darker romantic suspense with major twists and turns, Devney NAILS it. It’s becoming very clear to me as a reader that Devney can write in any trope and still leave me feeling breathless. That being said, I am very excited for the next book in the series and am hoping some of the questions I still have are thoroughly answered!
Devney has always drawn me in with her story telling, but she absolutely blew me away with Gypsy King! I was drawn into the mystery right along with Bryce. I was biting my nails and screaming into my pillows when something didn’t turn out the way she expected. And she’s dealing with Dash, that sexy, smirking troublemaker. I loved the chemistry between them. It was so tangible that I’d have to take a moment to cool down after each encounter! There’s so much to love about this story! I can’t wait to see what happens in Riven Knight!
Bryce wants to have THE big story to her name. That’s one of the reasons she came back home to become partner with her dad at the newspaper he owned. She thinks that the break up of the Tin Gypsy’s is it. She’ll dig until she finds what she’s looking for.
When she meets (Kingston) Dash she can honestly say he’s one sexy man. She won’t mind asking him questions but unfortunately that’s not going to be as easy as it usually is for her. He’s going to make it much harder. What happens though when they both have questions that need answered?
This is definitely my kind of book, the suspense, the sexiness, the way that I’m sucked into the book is just everything I love about a book!!!
Living up to your family’s legacy can be a daunting but often times rewarding task. For Bryce – life in the big city as a news anchor wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Determined to make more of the job that she pushed to pursue, Bryce heads home to help with her family’s business. Stepping from the limelight did not mean giving up the pursuit of the truth. The role just took on new meaning now that Bryce is on the prowl for the latest headliner for the local newspaper.
Clifton Forge doesn’t always stir up controversy that lands the sleepy town on the front page of the newspaper, but Bryce is determined to nail a headliner that will shake the foundation of the family business. When a murder rocks the town, the prime suspect is none other than the leader of the former Gypsy Kings. This now defunct motorcycle club use to be home to a band of criminals that stretched the arms of their chaos far and wide. In spite of a warning to steer clear of the Tin Gypsy motorcycle club, Bryce sets out to uncover the secrets that surround this band of brothers.
What Bryce didn’t expect was the road block that was wrapped in such a handsome package. Dash owned the local garage and was the former President of the Tin Gypsies. Determined to get to the nitty gritty depths of the truth, Bryce discovers there is more to Dash’s demeanor that meets the eye. Secrets are swirling around the couple that will bring a danger that neither could have expected. Both quickly realize that they can’t walk away from the temptation of their attraction to one another. Will the truth of the past destroy this couple before they have a chance to explore their mutual attraction??
Let me start by saying…..there hasn’t been a Devney Perry book to date that I have not enjoyed. When Perry announced a new series revolving around a motorcycle club, I decided to make sure I went into the series ‘blind’. I refused to look at a synopsis, snippet or any other peek into this newly created world. The thrill at uncovering a new line of characters had me reeling from the anticipation!!
Bryce was the new girl in town, but definitely was determined to leave her mark. I loved the way Bryce seemed like the world could settle on her shoulders and she would still be the calm within the storm. The strength and sharp wit that Bryce possessed left you believing that she was definitely the match for Dash.
Now that I mentioned Dash……what a rough and battered character!! Everything about this former biker screamed strength and ruggedness. The weight of his place within the Tin Gypsy’s weighed on Dash’s shoulders. A determination to keep secrets hidden from the outside world proves harder for Dash once the twists and turns of a murder begin to unravel the past. Dash is determined to soak up every moment with Bryce that he can, but knows there may be an expiration date once the reporter finds her story.
Gypsy King will lead you down a road of discovery that will unravel the past in the most unexpected ways. Deveny Perry has created this world that spins off of her Jameson Valley series in a very unique way. Mayhem and romance are never far behind when the Tin Gypsy motorcycle club rides through town. Make sure you hold on to the handlebars……Dash will definitely leave your hair blowing in the wind.
This book gave me so many Sons of Anarchy feelings! I had to read this book in one seating because it won’t let you do anything else, be prepared to expect the unexpected because it has many twists and turns you won’t see them coming.
It’s taken me a bit to write this review.
It took awhile for this one to grab me. I love romantic suspense but something was missing for me.
Maybe the next book will answer my questions and complete me..
Very interesting storyline.
Love the characters.

One look ignited a spark, one kiss an obsession. Too bad Dash and Bryce were on opposite sides. The attraction instant, the connection electric. Both want answers but at what cost. When they are directly threatened, they realize what they mean to each other and their future. This story has do many great elements and feels. A great start to a new series.
Gypsy King by Devney Perry will take you to an exotic and intriguing world of lies, deception, mystery and secrets. And a passionate romance between two unlikely soul mates is blooming in middle of darkness and deceit. A complex storyline with some brilliant writing will keep you engrossed in the story.
Bryace is back to her home town, Clifton Forge where her parents own the local newspaper. She left her unfulfilling job as news channel anchor to pursue her dream of being a true journalist. And she feels there is a story behind the notorious Tin Gypsy MC turning into legal operations. As she starts digging, death and danger come after her. And the biggest of them should be Kingston “Dash” Slater, the current leader and owner of the famous garage. But as their paths clash, they find an unusual camaraderie while searching for truth. They are enemies who feel this electric attraction and kindred spirit. Will past sins of Tin Gypsy catch up with them? Can an ex criminal with blood in his hands and violence in his veins can love Bryce?
Bryce is a strong and fierce character. I was applauding all the time she faced the scary motorcycle club guys fearlessly. She is so damn smart and passionate about her work. I am in love with this amazing mix of beauty, brain, heart and sass. Dash was THE alpha hero with his bossy attitude, arrogance and dominating protectiveness. He has a strong sense of right and wrong. And that was amazing. Their chemistry is burning hot throughout the story. It started with constant struggle and fights as they did not trust each other. But as story progressed, it melt into something so sweet and intoxicating. They faced some daunting challenges and their unique love prospered. The only issue I had with the story is the abrupt and confusing ending. The core mystery around which the story was structured did not get solved. I have an idea it will probably continue in next book but it completely disappeared towards the end.
Gypsy King by Devney Perry is beginning of an exciting journey with adrenaline rush and true love. I cannot wait to see what is in store next.
Received ARC for Honest review
Dash is the sexy alpha that’s used to getting what he wants, when he wants and how he wants, especially if it involves women. Bryce doesn’t roll that way. She’s smart, talented and independent with a quick wit and is not going to fall victim to Dash’s charm. The banter between Bryce and Dash was great! Dash being Dash, the sarcasm just rolls off his tongue, but not one to be outdone, Bryce meets his sarcasm with a snarky tongue that keeps Dash on his toes.
What starts out as an intent to expose the past, turns into so much more than that. Secrets, lies, betrayal, murder, suspense, mystery, this story has all that and more. The chemistry is undeniable between Bryce and Dash and little by little, day by day before they even realize it, the game changes. Will it be too late, or will they be able to overcome everything that’s thrown at them?
I really enjoyed the story and cannot wait to read the next one to see where they end up and to find out what happens next.
I loved this story! It is full of romance, adventure and suspense. An awesome start to a new series.
“What’s going on, Dash? With us?”
“I don’t know. It’s more than I thought it would be.” He tucked a lock of hair behind my ear. “You kind of snuck up on me.”
I smiled. “You snuck up on me too.”
This story really snuck up on me. It started off slow and steady, introducing characters, setting the scene, getting me enmeshed in Bryce’s world.
Then after about half way into the story the pace picked up or at least my reading pace increased as I was desperately trying to read faster and uncover more secrets.
In Gypsy King, Bryce and Dash’s story is complete but there is still a lot of mystery and unanswered questions that will continue in the next book which will feature another couple. And I CAN’T WAIT!
-5 Stars!-
Dash and Bryce are explosive!!!! Lana~White Hot Reads
This is my first Devney Perry book and first MC read and can’t complain. I truly enjoyed reading this story and can’t wait to see what happens to the other memebrs of the Tin Gypsy. The dynamics between Dash and Bryce is awesome. The push/pull, the sexual chemistry and tension is everything. Bryce sure gave Dash a run for his money. After deciding to trust each other, things just got better from there. Looking forward to the next books in this series.
3.75 stars–GYPSY KING is the first instalment in Devney Perry’s contemporary, adult TIN GYPSY erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the members of the former Tin Gypsy MC. This is club president Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater, and journalist Bryce Ryan’s story line. The Tin Gypsy is a spin-off from the author’s Jamison Valley series and Clover Chapel #1, but you do not have to have read the previous series to understand or follow Gypsy King.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Bryce and Dash) GYPSY KING follows the building relationship and romance between the former Tin Gypsy club president Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater, and journalist Bryce Ryan. A woman was found murdered at a local Clifton Forge hotel, and journalist and new co-owner of the newspaper, Bryce Ryan, is determined to expose the now-defunct Tin Gypsies MC as the killers she believes them to be. Desperate for a story Bryce is willing to point fingers, with the help of the local police, at former club president Draven Slater, before any proof has been revealed but in doing so may have pointed the finger at an innocent man. When Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater offers a compromise to work together to uncover the truth, secrets will be revealed throwing Dash and Draven’s life out of control. What ensues is the building relationship between Dash and Bryce, and the potential fall-out as the Tin Gypsies may have been targeted for sins of the past, and Bryce becomes collateral damage in a war long thought over and done.
Bryce Ryan had wanted to make it big in television journalism but things did not go according to plan. Hoping to make a name for herself, Bryce buys into the family owned newspaper, and starts to dig up dirt on the former MC. Dash Slater has kept his nose clean for over a year but the accusations against his father find Dash facing off with the new reporter in town, a woman that stirs up all sorts of anger and emotions.
The relationship between Dash and Bryce is one of immediate attraction but Bryce is determined to dig up dirt on the former MC. Aggressive and pushy, Bryce refuses to back down desperate to prove she could once again be a successful reporter. Working together to uncover the truth pushes Bryce and Dash together, pulling at the barely veiled palpable sexual energy. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Bryce’s father Lane Ryan; as well as several former members of the Tin Gypsy MC including Dash’s brother Nick, and their father Draven: Emmett, Leo, Isaiah, and bookkeeper Presley.
GYPSY KING is a story of family, betrayal, vengeance, and lies. The conflict has yet to be resolved but secrets from the past have stirred up a hornet’s nest of confusion, and had made its’ way to Clifton Forge. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is steamy and hot. GYPSY KING is a strong introduction to the Tin Gypsy series.
Once again Devney Perry delivers a top notch story to her eager fans! The Tin Gypsies motorcycle series hightails it onto your Kindles and into your hearts with a cast of characters that is sure to give us plenty to gush, swoon, and fangirl over near the office water cooler as we take a ride on the wild side with Dash and the gang.
Kingston “Dash” Slater has taken over the Tin Gypsies, a motorcycle club that had previously been known to cause trouble in the small town of Clifton Forge, but now seems to ride the straight and narrow. To the new investigative reporter over at the Tribune, Bryce Ryan, all this sudden quiet and about face, just doesn’t sit right with her. She smells a story and goes digging. When she learns that a woman appears to have been murdered, her gut tells her that it was her connection to the Tin Gypsies that likely lead to her death. Determined to prove that former TG President Draven Slater is at fault, puts her at direct odds with his son, Dash Slater.
Without spoiling the intense ride that unfurls in this book, let’s just say with Bryce and Dash, it was heard to determine who was taking who for a ride at times. These two have chemistry that absolutely crackled!! Right from the get go, there were sparks and lots of verbal sparring. I. LOVED. IT!
“Dash. That’s an interesting name.”
“Nickname.”
“And what’s your real name?”
‘He smiled, dropping my hand. “That’s a secret I only tell a woman after she’s let me buy her a beer.”
“Pity. I only drink beer with a man after I know his real name.”
‘Dash chuckled. “Kingston.”
“Kingston Slater. But your nickname is Dash. Does anyone ever call you King?”
“Not anyone who lived to say it twice,” he teased.’
If you’re a reader that loves banter, you’re in for a real treat with Bryce and Dash! The two of them could not help themselves. She was smart and witty, and he was strong and cocky. They really go at each other, and I could hardly wipe the smile from my face.
“Bryce was not easy by any stretch. She was tough. She made me laugh with her wit and sass. She challenged me. And when she wasn’t pissing me off, she was turning me on.” -Kingston
She is a great heroine! A total spitfire for sure. It was so easy to see why a man like Dash would totally be into her. She was like a beacon to a cocky surefire man like him. A total magnetic force.
Dash was quite the charmer though…..phew! No doubt he has only ever had to experience loneliness because he chose to do so. Good grief, this man is catnip to any woman who wants a strong, protective, real man who knows when to stand firm and when to yield. He had so many layers to his personality, and I so enjoyed seeing him discover sides to himself as his relationship with Bryce developed. She was wonderful for him, and for his growth as a man, giving Bryce her Kingston. Kingston cared for her deeply, but in ways that always seemed to keep his head on straight. I loved how he was so adept at steering their relationship without Bryce even realizing it some times. They played to each other’s strengths and each of them stepped up when the other seemed to falter. I honestly loved the interaction and support they displayed in their relationship once it became obvious
to them that they may really have something special. It was beautiful and passionate too!
What I loved about this book, beyond the obvious romance spark between the h/H, was that the storyline itself was actually engaging. The whole murder mystery including the investigation portion, the uncovering of the lies and deception, and the big plot twist was captivating! I could not wait to see how things would unfold because there were so many competing theories in my head. Trying to decipher the evidence was fun. A well written book that is sure to keep you guessing, when you’re not panting that is!!
And thank you Devney for that amazing epilogue!! OMG…my heart nearly burst with joy!!
I can’t wait for the next leg of this ride with Riven Knight. I need Isaiah’s story so badly!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you meet the Tin Gypsy crew.
Holy smokes this book. HOLY SMOKES!!!
These two characters had such chemistry, I could hardly take it. The story was so beautifully written, it scooped me up right away and held me hostage until I was done reading.
I’ve never been in a book hangover such as the one I was in after finishing this book. I didn’t want it to end. I fell completely in love with this world, and can’t wait to read more with upcoming releases.
I love people that take chances. Those that step out of their normal to expand their wings and take flight. To travel the road not taken. Well, Devney Perry did that with Gypsy King and if I didn’t know before, I know now I will follow her anywhere. Because her words can take me everywhere.
I’ve been reading Devney since she started in this bookverse and have read every word she has written. She became my favorite author in 2018 and maintains the title in 2019. And she’s looking like the frontrunner for 2020. She’s just that incredible!!!
First, I need to touch on the cover of Gypsy King for a few seconds. OMG! was my first thought. What happen to my sweet, beautiful, wistful covers? And I remembered, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, and all I saw was beauty. Thought provoking, unconventional beauty. That cover alone is a best seller.
And then I delved into those words. You know those words that can stop you from eating, from leaving the house, from talking on the phone. Those words that lock you down and hold you hostage. Those words that turn into a story. Because Devney Perry is no doubt a story teller. She has the uncanny ability to mix angst, drama, sexiness, family, humor and mystery with 26 letters strategically placed.
Dash and Bryce are great together. As in they complement each other all while working each other’s nerves. She’s hell bent on finding answers, and he’s determined to prove the answers wrong. She’s fearless and he is protective. She’s family oriented and he has no desire for a family. But no matter how opposite they are, they do have one commonality. They are both loyal and loyalty goes a long way.
As we watch all the pieces fall into play (though some fall by the wayside) for this couple, we also deal with mystery and mayhem. Drama and confusion. Half-truths and disbeliefs. Anger and disappointment. Suspense and intrigue. This emotional journey is one of my top 5 books for 2019, and once again Devney Perry is still my favorite author.
Wow!!!! What an amazing 6 star story that had me hooked from the cover to the last word written on the page. This author is my unicorn with ALL her amazingly unique written stories.
Bryce is a hungry reporter in her small town. She left the high life of a reporter to return to her home town. Dash is an ex club/biker president. A crime is committed and she’s the first on the story but Dash wants her to help him instead to uncover the truth. Things are about to get very interesting.
I loved this unique storyline that had me reading non stop until the very end. A solid page turning experience full of amazing characters. The bantering between these 2 had me laughing out loud quite a few times. It was an highly addictive and intriguing master piece. The chemistry between Dash and Bryce is scorching hot. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone for now told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
If you have read any of Devney Perry’s books then it will be no surprise that she has once again delivered an amazing story. Gypsy King was everything I hoped it would be! I loved the banter and chemistry between Dash and Bryce. But she’s killing me by continuing the mystery… seriously, I need the next book now!!! I need to know what the heck happened on that mountain! I’ll just be over here counting the days until Riven Knight!
4.5+ stars
Bryce Ryan has left the big city and tv reporting to work for her father’s small-town newspaper. The problem is the town might be too quiet and she is jonesing for a big story. And when one falls in her lap, she is going to jump on it no matter who is involved…even if it involves a former Tin Gypsy MC club that has been quiet for a year.
Kingston “Dash” Slater is enjoying flirting with the hot new girl in town until he finds out his dad is getting arrested and she is a reporter determined to get her story. This puts them at odds really fast. They spark, they fight, they annoy. They love to taunt and push the other. And there is some sexual tension and chemistry reaching a boiling point as they try to outdo the other.
Dash is trying to keep ahead of her and find out what is really going on to clear his father’s name. But Bryce is a strong opponent with good instincts and a thirst for a headline. But in her lust for a big story is she overlooking possible truth in favor of an easy target? Do they have to work against each other or could they get better results by working together? Can either be trusted to fight fair?
This is a compelling and layered story full of mystery, secrets, and suspense. The present seems to be affected by the past, but there are a lot of puzzle pieces that do not seem to fit. I figured out some things, but there were still some twists. I was a bit surprised to see that there was a big loose end and there will be an ongoing story arc with the next book, but considering the circumstances it makes sense. I could not stop myself from reading the sneak peek into the next book, Riven Knight and am completely invested in their ongoing story.
This book was also funny, sexy, and at times emotional. I loved Dash and Bryce together. They were feisty and fun. They pushed and challenged the other and just totally got under each other’s skin and changed their own expectations and plans.
This focuses on the town of Clifton Forge, Montana and brings a host of new colorful and interesting characters while bringing back some familiar ones…Nick from The Clover Chapel is Dash’s brother. I am looking forward to the other books in this series as I am already intrigued by some of their stories.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review
Wow! What a great start to an all new MC series. Bryce moves back home to a small town as a newspaper reporter…thinking she can still hit it big with that career making story. But when she finds herself investigating a murder and looking into the local former MC the Tin Gypsy…Dash gives her more than what she was looking for. He’s got that hot bad boy vibe that I fall in love with. Bryce is no shy wallflower…she gives as good as she gets. She’s a strong feisty heroine that will fight for the truth no matter what. The heat between these two is scorching and I always melt when they banter about who is winning. Loved the suspense, twists and the ongoing mystery. I have so many theories and can’t wait to find out what’s going on. What’s REALLY going on.
’m a sucker for a strong heroine who can dish it out and hold her own! Bryce is fierce and I want to be her when I grow up! Dash brings an amazing dynamic to this story and his chemistry with Bryce is off the charts. There connection was fire!! I did not anticipate the level of mystery/suspense that would be in this book! You will NOT be disappointed. 5 star! I cannot wait for more from this crew!
