SAFE HOUSE & LIBERATED (Flint): A smart woman like Kendra could never fall for a man like me. Nothing more than a common outlaw hiding by a designer suit. A seriously bad guy. As a lawyer by day and VP of the Steel Infidels at night, I’m not above doing whatever it takes to protect the motorcycle club and my family.
STEEL JUSTICE (Jesse): Bikers, babes, and booze. Three things I lived for, all in one dirty package when I decided to throw my brother’s bachelor party at the Panama City Bike Rally. Then she came along and screwed up everything. The plan was simple. Familiar. Take her home, wreck her for other men, then kick her to the curb by daylight, spent and breathless. It would’ve been the perfect night making her scream my name if she hadn’t hidden one little fact. She’s Big Roy’s property, and he owns her. The Prez of the Liberators MC is used to getting what he wants, and he won’t let her go without a fight. Neither will I. I’ll see him burn in hell before I let him touch her ever again.
THUNDERCLAP (Sam): I admit it. I’m a player. I adore women and they love me. I’ve never met a woman that I couldn’t wrap around my body with only a smile and a sexy wink. Until Lila blew into town. For the first time in my life, my tricks aren’t working. I want her and she thinks I’m nothing more than a two-bit thug. It’s time for the player to up his game.
TAKE DOWN (Toby): She thinks I’m her Guardian Angel. I know I’m her worst nightmare. I thought I had everything under control until the day I saved Maggie’s life. Most men would melt if a girl like her looked at them the way she looks at me, as if I was her savior, her protector. She sees the muscles, the tats, the hero the media makes me out to be. I’d give anything to be that man, to hear her screaming my name as I showed her exactly what a Marine can do in bed, but I can’t let her in. What I had to do in Afghanistan made me a monster. If I let her in… I might let it out. I belong over there, in hell. I don’t know how to live in the heaven that is Maggie. She doesn’t realize how hard I’m fighting to keep her away. She doesn’t know who I really am. I’m irredeemable. She should run. Before she unleashes a monster that can’t be controlled.

Read: 11/4-8/19
Steel Infidels was a five book MC series by Dez Burke. I read all five books together as a boxed set. It was my first experience with the author.
I rated the series as a whole at 4 stars. The individual ratings are included below with each book’s short summary. For the series, it was well written, suspenseful, humorous, serious and a pull at a variety of emotions. Each book was short and I desired more depth and development; however, each was enjoyable and entertaining. I have included the individual summaries below.
Prequel: Safe House, 4 Stars
Safe House was the first book in the series. It was aptly named and it covered a very short period of time. It also served as the introduction to the main storyline. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and having the stage set for the full story.
Flint was a public defender. He had a past in the Steel Infidel MC that he left behind several years prior. His best friend was murdered by a rival MC and he returned for revenge.
Kendra Shaw was a veterinarian. She was one of two in the county, well known and well respected. She also ran an animal rescue – her entire life was devoted to her animals.
Burke provided the introduction then left us with a little cliff hanger to complete the story in book two, Liberated. I would have preferred the entire story in one book but it was well written and developed for the short story it was meant to be.
Book One: Liberated, 3 Stars
Liberated was the continuation of Flint and Kendra’s story. It picked up exactly where the previous book left off. Although the primary plot was the relationship development, the MC conflict was also front and center. I enjoyed the characters as well as the fast paced action. Because it was so short it lacked a few details that I would have loved to have a deeper dive into; otherwise, it was well written and entertaining.
Book Two: Steel Justice, 4 Stars
Steel Justice was Jesse’s story. He was the eldest brother and the MC President. Jesse’s story was my favorite. He was my kind of alpha: strong, protective, smart, fierce, loyal and sexy. I loved Trish most of the time but she had her stupid moments of drama – it made for a good story, but I didn’t care for her logic. But in the end, Burke brought us full circle to her reasoning. I desired more details with the closure of the big conflict but all in all, it was a quick and entertaining read.
Book Three: Thunderclap, 4 Stars
Finally….Sam! Sam was the funny playboy. He was the life of every party with trouble as his middle name.
I was hooked from the beginning. The premise started in one direction and quickly took a turn that I enjoyed. It brought both humor and suspense into the storyline and kept me intrigued; however, I craved more details and depth. Additionally, although Burke included both perspectives, at times it was heavy with Lila’s and I desired more of Sam.
All in all, Sam lived up to his personality and it was a great addition to the series.
Book Four: Take Down, 3.5 Stars
Take Down was Toby’s story. Toby was former military, Sam’s childhood best friend and also a loyal patched member of the MC.
Maggie was a reporter for a large Atlanta news station. She was everything that Toby wasn’t. He was casual, she was formal; He was small town, she was big city. They could not have been more opposite. But when Toby saved Maggie from a near death experience they were linked together forever.
I enjoyed Toby. He was a true alpha hero. I also enjoyed the suspenseful storyline. It kept me intrigued. I wasn’t completely sold on Toby and Maggie as a couple. I desired more development, but it was entertaining none the less.
And true to the series, all MC members and their significant others were focal to the storyline. I enjoyed watching the continued development of past favorites. And OMG – Sam and Lila’s Twins! Hilarious – please have a legacy spinoff!
Could have been a good read but much too much steam. Story line could have been good.
Good reading. Sexy characters.
I liked it.
Really enjoyed reading about each of the characters. It kept me reading and was a real page turner. Would like to read more of these sets of sexy men and their romantic interests.
Action, sex, love, all combine make this series a compelling reading treasure
Better than average. I enjoyed them but am glad they were free.
Great read , great author as well
