Page turning action and suspense is what Geoffrey Saign delivers with the Steel Assassin. The intensity of this book, in my opinion, exceeds that of Steel Force if that is possible The characters in this novel are scary. Interesting was the morality and integrity that some of the characters exhibit and insights gained. I would suggest that to get a full understanding of the motivation of the players in this novel that you read Steel Force first. If violence isn’t your cup of tea pass on this book. I however and eager for the next adventure Geoffrey publishes. His talent is incredible.
If you like action packed thrillers, you will love this book! Steel is a force to be reckoned with and surrounds himself with some really good people. He has a girlfriend, Christie, who can really take care of herself in a fight which is something Steel has never experienced before in a woman he loves. Christie and her brother work for Steel and his protection agency. Taking on the drug cartel will really be difficult, needing help from some unexpected people in order to really get the job done and over with. Some of these drug cartel people are awful individuals and some of them have some rather redeeming qualities that are used in the story.
The story is amazing and there’s never a dull moment. Each story is fresh and exciting and the descriptive words used make reading like watching a movie. The book would make a great movie. Read this book!
A thrilling, action-packed, complex plot. Two factions after Jack Steel for different reasons. A story that is full of betrayal, hatred, and love. There were strong characters who had to adjust to each situation.
Steel Assassin starts out with Jack Steel and members of his new company, Greensave are hired to protect Afia Ameen, a Muslim woman during her public speech from possible assassination issued by a fatwa from a cleric of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Unfortunately, Steel, Christie, Afia, and some members of his team are captured by a mysterious Columbian and are immediately forced as a pawn into a crazy scheme. The Columbian says they are all going to live if they follow his instructions to the exact letter. Yeah, right, Steel thinks.
This is a most unusual story. Saign multi-tasks with Steel and his teammates, the mysterious stranger, numerous members of a Mexican cartel, wherein good buys becoming bad, bad guys becoming good, and where opposing members of each change various times throughout the book.
You have no idea what’s going to happen as you are drawn through one dangerous adventure to the next, right until the very end.
Jack Steel has integrity, is loyal, is flawed ~ he’s human, not some god-on-a-pedestal or perfect superhero ~ he’s just a man muddling through as best as he can to save Christie and her family and his ex-wife and daughter . . . so much for one man! But he’s Jack Steel! Thank you, again, Mr Saign, for writing such an exceptional character in sometimes horrific situations!
Great book!
Retired U.S. Army Major Jack Steel use to be a part of the Blackhood Ops secret program to target terrorist. The Blackhood Ops program was created so that their missions could not be traced back to the U.S. Army or U.S. Government. Jack left the Blackhood Ops program because he got tired of all the killing. Can you ever leave a secret government program?
Jack has his own business now a protection agency his girlfriend Christy and her brother Harry work for him. Jack, Christy and Harry are on a job protecting a woman as she gives a speech when her speech is interrupted. Harry and this woman are taken hostage.
Jack and Christy must become assassins if they are too save her brother and this lady. They are given a list of names and people they must take out. Steel Assassin follows Jack and Christy as they go around looking for these people and infiltrate their camps and when they do the killing starts and the bodies start to pile up. Neither Jack nor Christy wants to murder these people but if they are going to save the ones they love they don’t have a choice.
Steel Assassin opens with action and is non-stop from beginning to end. There is action on almost every page with enough twists to keep the pages turning. Steel Assassin had my attention from the first page. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. There was a few times there when I thought it was all over for Jack and Christy it had me on the edge of my seat wondering if they were going to come out alive. I could just see them gun in hand as they were walking down the driveways or in the woods as they were coming up on these terrorist and taking out the guards.
I highly recommend Steel Assassin to anyone who loves a good mystery, suspense or thriller books with non-stop action and filled with twists after twists that will have you racing alongside the characters as each page is turned.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.
This is an action-packed wallop. The second book in the Jack Steel series starts off not long after the first one finished and Jack now has his own protection agency but Jack’s past comes back to haunt him and his family. It’s fast-paced with a lot of tension filled moments. I really enjoyed when Jack would get into a predicament and would smartly extricate himself and his team in ways which made the story even more exciting. Most of all, I enjoyed getting to know Christie and her family. How everything developed with her relationship with Jack seemed very realistic.
The narrator, Francis Kearney, has been the narrator for both books in the series and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I received the book as an ARC and have no obligation to leave a positive review.
That being said ,a good review is easy to leave as this book was a thrilling page turner that kept me enthralled.
The characters are realistic and believable.
Can’t wait for the next book……I’m sure that their adventures haven’t come to an end.
I enjoyed this story. It was entertaining and although not a short book, a fairly quick read for me. The storyline was interesting. It definitely had its twists and turns. This is not a story for the faint of heart as there is plenty of violence. I didn’t ever feel it was too much violence. If anything, the reason it might have seemed that way was because Saign does very well in writing any type of action scene.
There were two things that broke the flow of my reading. There is a lot of back and forth talk between each group, especially at the beginning of the book. First with Steel’s lover, Christie, and her family, then with the army, then with the Columbian and then the cartel. It might have seemed confusing to me because it was a little difficult to keep up with “who was whom”. I wondered at the time if it was because there was so much dialog, but I’m not sure.
The second reason will seem quite trivial. I got a little tired of Steel’s constant thoughts about no longer involving Christie and leaving her, so he didn’t cause her the same troubles he had with his previous wife. Too many “asides”. I just kept thinking, “aw give it a break”.
Steel Assassin is Book 2 of a series titled “Jack Steel Thriller Series”. There can be no question Book 2 can be read as a stand-alone, but I most certainly intend to go back and read Book 1.
More importantly, I hope Book 3 is on the way.
Steel Assassin is an action packed thriller that deals with a very uptodate theme which is our difficulty in dealing with the different (culture, gender, colour, faith and so on) and the violance that it creates. I just couldn´t put the book down because I wanted to know what happened. Stell and his partner make an interesting working duo who also share a very interesting personal relationship. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I received an advance copy to read as part of Geoff Saign´s ARC team.
Never a spoiler in my reviews: Steel Assassin is the 2nd book in the Jack Steel series and gives you everything you would hope for in a well written, witty, captivating thriller/mystery! Tons of action and suspense and stories within stories are woven into a book well worth the read! The characters are so well written that you can get into the relationships without difficulty and without having read book one (but you’ll want to after this!) A true edge of your seat page-turner, you’ll be completely satisfied with this hard-to-put-down book! A gritty combo of situations that could have pulled right out of today’s headlines! Just go get this book! This is my honest evaluation of the book after receiving an ARC.
If you are a fan of action thrillers or thrilling action, “Steel Assassin” is a must read for you. In book 1, “Steel Force”, Jack Steel was an assassin for Special Ops national security. Questionable missions caused his leaving to live in peace with his family and new love. Author, Geoffrey saign puts jack back in action with his past coming back with a bang and more bangs, plus a twist that forces his family into action with him. Now that makes the best reading, emotional and exciting with danger and fear taken to another level.
Book 1, “Steel Force” and book2, “Steel Assassin” are both excellent goodreads.
STEEL. ASSASSINS by Geoffrey Saign
Book 2 in the Jack Steel series. Jack has a past, but the past keeps coming back, and needing to protect his loved ones. The ones he harmed in the past, will they help him now. One doesn’t mess with the Mexican Cartel, and with revenge. The author has once again give us an action packed plot, a great spy thriller, realistic with the characters and their actions in Jack and Christy.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
