Not nto steampunk styles until I read this book. With interesting plot and twist, I do find it a tad simplistic at times,, not every situation has a happy outcome.. But, still a great tale.
I was able to finish the book, but the society and its problems are so simplistic that I think the revolution would have already happened.
Good for early teen.
Awesome read
The premise appears to be an society based on Steam struggling to survive after a civilization destroying war. While I am not a scientist or engineer I found the steam inventions improbable and not believable. The “bugs” were never explained and the story line was predictable. I hung in to finish the book and the ending was exactly as I thought it would be – a set up for another book. I will not bother with the other books in the series.
I enjoyed this first book and intend to get the two following, because it has me curious about where the characters are going. They live in a world with giant bugs, both domesticated and wild and dangerous. They’re on the run From a polical bad guy-heading for new adventures, that will lead them into new towns and cities. So, I plan to be right there with them. The characters are well developed. You will get pull right into their lives as they create new inventions and explore surprising places as they shift from problem to problem.
Loved it so much I had to get the rest of the series. This is like pirates and steampunk in the age of airships. Warning: spoiler alert. If you are not comfortable with the idea of giant bugs ( like big enough to ride on) or if you are not fond of spiders, then this is not the series for you. Some bugs are domesticated, some are enemies but they are an integral part of the Steamvorn world.
Now on my short list of book series to follow up. Can’t wait to read more!
Good read.
I liked the story and look forward to reading more.
A story of young forced adventurers.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.
Great book, exciting read, recommend
Really riviting !! (Pardon the pun!) Can’t wait to read the other two books !!
I loved the book and it left me wanting more.
Great for young and older readers. Jacob and Alice travel with their protectors to avert genocide in their Steampunk world.
Enjoyed this book. The characters were very interesting and I was rooting for them. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Believable eccentric characters and gizmos! Fascinating use of giant mutated insects seem almost real.
I only read a few pages. It just isn’t my kind of book. I would possibly recommend it as a YA book.
Loved it.
Loved reading this and can’t wait to buy it in hard copy
