I had Trouble getting into the book. Perhaps steampunk isn’t for me.
The story surpassed common steampunk novels. The storyline wove steampunk, modern biotech, fantasy, military tech, and a simple thread of a love story. Love of family, of country, invention, and adventure.
Each of the three volumes were necessary to drive the ever evolving storyline forward. The main characters each had strengths, doubts, strong friends, and something unique and special to help bring the story home.
This is more of an adult streamline fantasy. It holds the adult readers attention, start to finish. Great read.
I bought this series on audible, all 3 for 1 credit. It was well worth the credit and I cant wait for the next book!!! I absolutely loved the characters and the world that Asher created and I know this will be a series I will read over and over
Definitely different. Interesting read
I’m very new to the steampunk genre and this book has me hooked. I like the characters, they’re complex and believable within their context. I’m definitely getting the next two books based primarily on my investment in the main characters.
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Very enjoyable. Keeps your attention and is easy to understand the terminology without needing a long explanation which would be boring.
I really enjoyed reading this book, and was surprised when I reached the end so quickly.
Good entertaining read
A very interesting twist to a “steam-punk” world…
It was one book I could not get into. The writing was laborious and moved very slowly.
Probably best thought of as teen lit, it is still entertaining. As an imagined world with lots of creative gizmos and use of limited (and different) resources, it is delightful.
A surprisingly good book. interesting characters and a wild vision of the future. I enjoyed reading.
Recommended for young teens
A fun book. I am looking forward to the next one in the series
Liked the new world created by the author.
A little goofy, but good. It is Steampunk, after all.
Not my normal go to, but it kept me reading to see what comes next. Enjoyed the characters and story. Sometimes got lost between where everyone was located since i didnt have a map to give a perspective. Overall thought the series well laid out and a good read.
It’s a good book, but not the best I’ve read.
a good read but not my cup of tea
