My name is Gemma Keyes. Other than my name, I am utterly forgettable—so those who never paid much attention to me in the first place haven’t exactly noticed that I’ve disappeared. Vanished. Oh, it’s much more complicated than it sounds. I’ve had to learn the hard way: Invisibility comes with its own set of problems.I should tell you about Dr. Daniel Bickel, world-renowned nanophysicist. We used … world-renowned nanophysicist. We used to work together, but I’ll be candid with you: He’s supposed to be dead. Well, he’s not. (Imagine my surprise.) Instead of the proverbial “six feet under,” he’s subsisting in an abandoned devolution cavern beneath the old Manzano Weapons Storage Facility on Kirtland Air Force Base here in Albuquerque.
“I need to show you what I’m protecting here, Gemma,” he insisted.
I stared into the clear glass case. I could hear . . . humming, clicking, buzzing. A faint haze inside the box shifted. Dissolved. Came back together. Reminded me of how mercury, when released on a plate, will flow and form new shapes. Only this, this thing was “flowing and forming” in midair.
“Do you see them?” Dr. Bickel asked.
“Them?” I was confused. My mouth opened to a stunned “o” as the silver haze resolved into blue letters.
H E L L O
Dr. Bickel hadn’t pressed any buttons. Hadn’t said anything to them. Hadn’t gestured.
He grinned. “Ah. They’ve noticed you. They know they haven’t seen you before.”
“Well, I wish they wouldn’t notice me!” I choked on the words, my eyes fixed on the glass case.
And I need to warn you about General Cushing. The rank and name likely conjure images of a lean but muscled old soldier, posture rigid, face cemented in unyielding lines, iron-gray hair cut high and tight. Let me disabuse you of that impression: General Imogene Cushing is short and a tiny bit plump. She wears her silvered hair in an elegant braid knotted at the nape of her neck, and she knows how to smile sweetly. With the deadliest of sharks.
You wouldn’t suspect a two-star general, an Air Force O-8, of being a traitor, would you?

loved this book! Hard to put down!
Kept me reading!
I really enjoyed this interesting twist on a sci-fi idea. The characters were well developed and although I never buy books, I bought the sequels because I wanted to know how the story ended. Thoroughly enjoyable, heart-felt read!
All of this author’s books are simply wonderful!
It took a bit to get used to the writing style of this author, but obviously it hooked me. I loved the story line. I kept me from getting my work done because I kept sneaking in a few more pages on my Kindle during work! I bought all three books back to back and drank down the story line. I’d love for her to write more.
The story line is like nothing I’ve ever read. It was unique and engaging and intelligent. I will keep my eyes open for more books by Vikki Kestell.
The book started out with lots of scientific detail and almost lost me. I persisted and was glad I did. Fun to read.
This was interesting after I turned past pages and pages of scientific stuff that didn’t interest me at all. After that it was good.
This book and the whole series provided an entertaining read that piqued my interest in this futuristic technology & how to maintain Christian principles among other technology changes to our world.
Good interesting book to read easy to follow. Just wish it was a book that could stand alone and not a blatant way to sell more books.
She is a wonderful author
Kept me intrigued. Good development of paranormal mixed with reality of the Christian walk.
Gemma’s smuggling trips to a secret laboratory change her life forever in many ways. She hides, shows adaptive creativity, and true concern for others.
I really enjoyed the story.
This is the first Christian author of action I have read that was excellent. The plot line was very good and had many unexpected twists and turns. I loved the fact that salvation and following God’s will was a secondary story and also very well written. I will be looking for more books from this author
Unusual and compelling. A real page-turner. Plan on staying up all night!
I really want to continue with these characters.
Loved this. Bought # 2 as soon as I finished 1; then # 3 as soon as I finished 2. Hope she writes more!
Book 1 and2 kept me reading non stop. It is always interesting and exciting. I can’t wait to read book 3.
Really enjoyed this book! This science was explained in an understandable way. Lots of humor, and humility. Could not put it down!
It was hard to get into it just about to quit reading it and then it took off I am trying to find the other two that goes with it. I hope you have them on here.
