My name is Gemma Keyes. Other than my name, I am utterly forgettable—so those who never paid much attention to me in the first place haven’t exactly noticed that I’ve disappeared. Vanished. Oh, it’s much more complicated than it sounds. I’ve had to learn the hard way: Invisibility comes with its own set of problems.I should tell you about Dr. Daniel Bickel, world-renowned nanophysicist. We used … world-renowned nanophysicist. We used to work together, but I’ll be candid with you: He’s supposed to be dead. Well, he’s not. (Imagine my surprise.) Instead of the proverbial “six feet under,” he’s subsisting in an abandoned devolution cavern beneath the old Manzano Weapons Storage Facility on Kirtland Air Force Base here in Albuquerque.
“I need to show you what I’m protecting here, Gemma,” he insisted.
I stared into the clear glass case. I could hear . . . humming, clicking, buzzing. A faint haze inside the box shifted. Dissolved. Came back together. Reminded me of how mercury, when released on a plate, will flow and form new shapes. Only this, this thing was “flowing and forming” in midair.
“Do you see them?” Dr. Bickel asked.
“Them?” I was confused. My mouth opened to a stunned “o” as the silver haze resolved into blue letters.
H E L L O
Dr. Bickel hadn’t pressed any buttons. Hadn’t said anything to them. Hadn’t gestured.
He grinned. “Ah. They’ve noticed you. They know they haven’t seen you before.”
“Well, I wish they wouldn’t notice me!” I choked on the words, my eyes fixed on the glass case.
And I need to warn you about General Cushing. The rank and name likely conjure images of a lean but muscled old soldier, posture rigid, face cemented in unyielding lines, iron-gray hair cut high and tight. Let me disabuse you of that impression: General Imogene Cushing is short and a tiny bit plump. She wears her silvered hair in an elegant braid knotted at the nape of her neck, and she knows how to smile sweetly. With the deadliest of sharks.
You wouldn’t suspect a two-star general, an Air Force O-8, of being a traitor, would you?

It taught me quite a bit and the suspense kept it going.
I enjoyed the variety of characters and story lines, it had me thinking about many ethical situations in a good way. I was quickly caught up in Gemma’s story and those around her. I can’t wait for the next book!
I have enjoyed the entire “Stealth” series so far. It is definitely Sci-Fi, but so entertaining and a really good read.
This is a prime example of good Christian fiction: clean, sincere, exciting, innovative story telling. I was immediately drawn in by the unique first person style where the main character is actually writing me a letter (actually book but it reads like a letter). I found the main character’s ability to laugh at herself to be refreshing. There is a lot to like about this book.
This series would never have found itself on my reading list had it not been written by my favorite author, Vikki Kestel. I trusted her to entertain me and she did not let me down. Wow, what fun and a totally different read for me. I now know about nanobytes and the world of this selective science. What a fun page turner. Once more Mrs Kestel hit it out if the park!!!!!
It took a few chapters for me to get really interested in this book, but then I couldn’t put it down!
Enjoyed the book so much I bought the next two!
Loved this book!!
Ordered the next two books in the series after reading the this first book. Can’t wait until thebook four is out this spring
Great first book in the series! The story pulls you in and keeps you till the very end, I can’t wait for the final book to be released!
After reading The Prairie Heritage series I was excited to read another series by Vikki Kestell. Well, the story lines couldn’t be more different. I loved both. The authors authenticity with historical facts is very refreshing.
Reduction of 1 star for too much repetition. I got it the first time. Definitely remembered it the second time….but by the fifth time I hated it. If the story hadn’t been so original and the other writing good, I would have stopped. Alas, by the end of the book I was so hooked that I bought the 2 following books. Much improved and a full 5 stars for them! Can’t wait four #4 to come out!
Easy read moves fast enjoyed tremendously.
Excellent Read! Great story without resorting to profanity or being filthy. Highly recommend.
Loved the series. Couldn’t put them down
When first starting this book I was skeptical, but this turned out to be a hidden gem that I will be rereading in the future. I’m also looking to invest in the next two books when I have some extra cash, and I don’t do that often with series! I’d recommend this one for anybody who enjoys good characters, funny inner monologues, and a realistic protagonist! (Honestly, I love Gemma, I’d like ten of her in my life tbh).
A Must Read for those who enjoy the outer edge and what ifs! The first book will wet one’s appetite to read more and more, then wonder when there will be another sequel. Exciting and suspenseful with a twist here and there. I loved it!
Keeps you on the edge of your seat, but you have to buy in to the plausibility of the whole problem of the story. If you can, it is a fun fast paced ride.
Well researched science imaginatively applied to build an exciting trilogy.
Interesting science fiction
