My name is Gemma Keyes. Other than my name, I am utterly forgettable—so those who never paid much attention to me in the first place haven’t exactly noticed that I’ve disappeared. Vanished. Oh, it’s much more complicated than it sounds. I’ve had to learn the hard way: Invisibility comes with its own set of problems.I should tell you about Dr. Daniel Bickel, world-renowned nanophysicist. We used … world-renowned nanophysicist. We used to work together, but I’ll be candid with you: He’s supposed to be dead. Well, he’s not. (Imagine my surprise.) Instead of the proverbial “six feet under,” he’s subsisting in an abandoned devolution cavern beneath the old Manzano Weapons Storage Facility on Kirtland Air Force Base here in Albuquerque.
“I need to show you what I’m protecting here, Gemma,” he insisted.
I stared into the clear glass case. I could hear . . . humming, clicking, buzzing. A faint haze inside the box shifted. Dissolved. Came back together. Reminded me of how mercury, when released on a plate, will flow and form new shapes. Only this, this thing was “flowing and forming” in midair.
“Do you see them?” Dr. Bickel asked.
“Them?” I was confused. My mouth opened to a stunned “o” as the silver haze resolved into blue letters.
H E L L O
Dr. Bickel hadn’t pressed any buttons. Hadn’t said anything to them. Hadn’t gestured.
He grinned. “Ah. They’ve noticed you. They know they haven’t seen you before.”
“Well, I wish they wouldn’t notice me!” I choked on the words, my eyes fixed on the glass case.
And I need to warn you about General Cushing. The rank and name likely conjure images of a lean but muscled old soldier, posture rigid, face cemented in unyielding lines, iron-gray hair cut high and tight. Let me disabuse you of that impression: General Imogene Cushing is short and a tiny bit plump. She wears her silvered hair in an elegant braid knotted at the nape of her neck, and she knows how to smile sweetly. With the deadliest of sharks.
You wouldn’t suspect a two-star general, an Air Force O-8, of being a traitor, would you?

I enjoyed this book very much. It was very different from the usual things I read, but I could not put it down.
A stretch of the imagination. Read the entire series of four books.
at first I had no idea what it was but kept reading , most interesting and believable in light of the times we are living in , got a clue when mentioned 3 D printing . long story short , I finished all 4 books in about 2 weeks , tearful ending. could not stop reading , MORE PLEASE.
It was very good and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
It is refreshing to find a Christian fiction book with a different theme besides boy meets girl. One that is more sci/fi than romance. A Christian based novel without a lot of preachy language. Loved it and the series!
I really enjoyed all the tech stuff and the characters.
Loved this series! Adventure and faith wrapped up together. Cared about the characters and loved AI character too!
Awesome book
Really enjoyed this fun book. Wish it wasn’t a series though because I won’t follow through with getting the rest of them.
Exciting story. Lots of action. Sci-Fi-fi that seems real.
Loved this series.
This is one of the fairly few series I read the first book for free and then *bought* the rest of the series because it was so good!
I read quite a bit of this author’s historical fiction and gave this a try. SO glad I did. All three books(so far?) in the series are well written, engaging, and exciting!
Sci-fi is one of my favorite genres. I don’t read much of it as you never can tell if it is clean now-a-days (or even from back when…).
I wish there was more clean (Christian) sci-fi works like these out there!!!
Vikki PLEASE write more in this series! You did awesome creating this nano-verse!
I did like it, but it went into to much scientific detail and I was disappointed that it left you hanging so you would have to buy the next book in the hopes it ended then.
Wow. Just wow.
A great combination of Christianity, Syfy, mystery and relationships. Definitely a great page-turner! Can’t wait to read the next one!
I literally could not put this book down. And I groaned out loud when I got to the end and realized there was more to read and I didn’t own the sequels!!!!! MUST. BUY. MORE!
Wonderful. Gripping, once you start you can’t put it down.
So good but leaves you hanging so I bought the next book and now I have to buy book # 3!! Not good.
While I enjoyed the characters in this book, I found I was skipping a lot of pages as it droned on with scientific explanations. I would read the sequel – the story line is good so all-in-all I enjoyed the book.
Interesting take on nano technology. Enjoyable and appears accurate. Recommended.
