My name is Gemma Keyes. Other than my name, I am utterly forgettable—so those who never paid much attention to me in the first place haven’t exactly noticed that I’ve disappeared. Vanished. Oh, it’s much more complicated than it sounds. I’ve had to learn the hard way: Invisibility comes with its own set of problems.I should tell you about Dr. Daniel Bickel, world-renowned nanophysicist. We used … world-renowned nanophysicist. We used to work together, but I’ll be candid with you: He’s supposed to be dead. Well, he’s not. (Imagine my surprise.) Instead of the proverbial “six feet under,” he’s subsisting in an abandoned devolution cavern beneath the old Manzano Weapons Storage Facility on Kirtland Air Force Base here in Albuquerque.
“I need to show you what I’m protecting here, Gemma,” he insisted.
I stared into the clear glass case. I could hear . . . humming, clicking, buzzing. A faint haze inside the box shifted. Dissolved. Came back together. Reminded me of how mercury, when released on a plate, will flow and form new shapes. Only this, this thing was “flowing and forming” in midair.
“Do you see them?” Dr. Bickel asked.
“Them?” I was confused. My mouth opened to a stunned “o” as the silver haze resolved into blue letters.
H E L L O
Dr. Bickel hadn’t pressed any buttons. Hadn’t said anything to them. Hadn’t gestured.
He grinned. “Ah. They’ve noticed you. They know they haven’t seen you before.”
“Well, I wish they wouldn’t notice me!” I choked on the words, my eyes fixed on the glass case.
And I need to warn you about General Cushing. The rank and name likely conjure images of a lean but muscled old soldier, posture rigid, face cemented in unyielding lines, iron-gray hair cut high and tight. Let me disabuse you of that impression: General Imogene Cushing is short and a tiny bit plump. She wears her silvered hair in an elegant braid knotted at the nape of her neck, and she knows how to smile sweetly. With the deadliest of sharks.
You wouldn’t suspect a two-star general, an Air Force O-8, of being a traitor, would you?

I read this book and then the rest of the series a while back. I don’t know why I didn’t write a review then because I totally loved the whole series! I loved the characters so much and the story was great! When I read the description of the book, I remembered the exact words that were there. You know it’s a good book when it stays with you. The whole series is so good!!!!!
I enjoyed reading this, but was not happy with the ending. This book and the next in the series should have been one book. This book doesn’t seem to have an ending. It leaves the reader hanging with unanswered questions.
Vikki Kestell is the best story teller. Her characters are so real you feel like you know them. Love the faith journey in her books. Great to be able to have a series because reading one of her books leaves you wanting more.
I stopped reading. Too slow moving to keep my interest.
One word – CLIFFHANGER. WHY don’t authors warn you that the story is continued in the next book? UGH!! I hate that. It was enjoyable, but I can’t afford to buy the rest of the books in the series. 🙁
Wow–what a book! It starts out slowly like a roller coaster click-click-clicking up the tall track. But once you tip over the edge, it’s a wild ride!! The premise is completely intriguing, the characters are vivid, and the story is utterly gripping! It ends on a cliff-hanger, and I can’t WAIT to see what happens next! On to the next book in the series…
Went right out and got the next book in this series!
Kind of a syfi book. Good read. Hard to put down.
The characters are well developed. The plot is absolutely new. Unfortunately, it ends without resolution, so I will be buying the sequels.
Interesting read for those who enjoy science fiction as well as exploring human behaviors. One of the characters is a preacher so for those who have an aversion to religion it may not be as appealing.
Unique plot and circumstances. Well researched setting and situation. A nice change of pace from almost any other genre I’ve read.
Not normally a sci-fI fan, but this one kept me on the edge of my seat! Couldn’t wait to see where the story was going to continue in the next books! Great research had to have been done for this to seem so realistic. Must read!!
Sadly I cannot write specifically to this book, but only the trilogy as I devoured them so quickly it is now one story in my mind. It is rare that I find a book series that I had to complete as the writing was superb and the plot completely engrossing. I have read many free books, only to find them a waste of time whereas this one was exciting with it’s plots interwoven supremely! I found the Christian theme intelligently brought in as there were moral and ethical dilemmas to explore and it was interesting to read what motivates particular characters’ actions. (IOW, do not let that be a reason not to read it, but more, a reason to read it!) The twists kept me reading well into the morning hours, but I didn’t care as I had to discover the next turn of events. This series was so exciting that I was able to get my husband to ingest it as well! He loves spy novels and this did not disappoint.
Oh my…what a great book. I’m hooked and heading to Stealth #2!
Christian Science Fiction: Absolutely entertaining and action-packed. You will love the “nannomites.”
This whole series was awesome!!!
Kept me interested!
LOVE this book (and the entire series!!) I wasn’t sure how I would like it, since it’s sci-fi, but INCREDIBLE story and development. I love the problems and how Gemma overcomes. Forced to have a “superpower” and learning to live with it!
makesyou sto and think….now a days it could really happen. or has it already???
Fabulous, witty and a bit scary. Not many books I laugh out loud while reading.
