This is book one in the Longhorns Baseball Series and is Dylan and Maggie’s story. I’m not a huge fan of second chance romances but I gave this one a shot because I love a good sports romance. I’m glad I decided to read it. I loved this book and can’t wait to read it. It’s well written and has a very good storyline.
Dylan and Maggie dated in high school. Dylan dumps Maggie saying that it isn’t going to work with them being long distance and that he wants Maggie to be able to live her life. He leaves town leaving Maggie heartbroken and mad at him. Fast forward 10 years, Dylan’s been a pro baseball player for 5 years. His current team trades him to the Longhorns. After 10 years of being away he’s heading home and not thrilled about it.
Dylan and Maggie meet shortly after he gets back because Maggie works for the Longhorns. Maggie gets this hairbrained idea that she and Dylan should have sex so she can get him out of her system so she can move on and find someone in her life to love again. She’s never gotten over Dylan. Dylan hasn’t gotten over her either and he’s hoping to turn this “not friends” with benefits into a real relationship. Unfortunately, they have obstacles to overcome if they are ever going to have a relationship. Dylan has a secret he’s been keeping that may just tear them apart again.

First time reading this author, and I enjoyed the plot and all the characters that were portrayed in this book. Beautiful connection for Maggie and Dylan, such young love only to be threatened by a disapproving father. Love how they each fought for what they really wanted and didn’t settle for anything less than what they both desired and cherished, each other.

Maggie always thought that she and Dylan have a future. But he broke her teenage heart. Ten years later he is back in Dallas, playing for Longhorns, Maggie is working as a Media Director for Longhorns. They meet again. He wants second chance with her and do anything to win her over. He never storred loving her.
I loved this book, characters are great story nicely written.
This was a fast paced second chance romance story. Characters were so vividly detailed, along the interplay, this reader felt more like a member of the group than an on-looking reader.
Dylan is a pro baseball player, just traded to the Longhorns back in him hometown. He hates it there, as his father lives thre and is a manipulative, mean, controlling man who has to have his way. Dylan hates that he can see parts of ‘his father’ in himself.
Magnolia (Maggie / Mags) is the media relations director for The Longhorns. She is also Dylan’s first (and only) love. She would love to say she was over him after he broke her heart the summer before he left for college, but she can’t.
This book follows as these two tread the line between the worlds of friends, lovers, and partners. There are twists, anger, heartbreak, devotion, derivation, devistation, and declaration all within this short read. See if Dylan and Maggie make it to the other side in one piece, or if the past & current deny them a future.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest, unbias review.
Maggie and Dylan were in love and then out of the blue he broke up with her and she couldn’t understand why. Years later they meet again and still have the same hot chemistry between them. Will this be there second chance or is it years to late for them. This is a really great book and I loved the interaction between Maggie and Dylan. Tara is a great author and I love her writing style. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed.

Maggie and Dylan is a second chance romance. Dylan made some choices ten years ago that ended his relationship with Maggie now that they are around each other again old sparks fly. The premise of the story is friends with benefits and no strings.
Both characters are likeable and I empathize with what they both went through from the past. Some of the story came across a bit while not juvenile entirely it was borderline. Once Maggie and Dylan decide to give into their bodies’ reaction to each other the story then became one bedroom scene after the other and I started flipping pages to get to the rest of the story. Once the big reveal to the secret happened the story was pretty much predictable.
While there was chemistry between these two for me it wasn’t enough to bring this story up to a deep heartfelt resonance.
