Connoll Pack
Love sneaks in like a thief in the night.
Danny’s parents raised him to believe his wolf was a curse. He’s part of the wealthy and powerful Connoll Pack, but only nominally. He abandoned that world to volunteer with supernatural kids, and he isn’t looking for a mate….
Max is a shifter who is also a detective. He’s working a case that could make or break his career. Danny’s caught up in the case he’s on, and he’s also irresistible. They’re a bad match—Max, an Alpha having trouble with his new powers and Danny, who trusts Alphas as far as he could throw one. But they can’t get enough of each other, and they might bond before they even see it coming.
They could be amazing together, but they have to get past a few obstacles—especially since someone close to Danny might be involved in the thefts Max is investigating.

Stealing His Heart is the first book in the Connoll Pack by author Bru Baker. I liked this story a lot. It is fast-paced, action-packed, and enough heat to keep me turning the pages.
Danny, his parents raised him to believe his wolf was a curse. He is part of the wealthy and powerful Connoll pack. But only nominally. His parents would rather be rich humans than rich wolves. Danny is a good soul. He volunteers to help supernatural kids. And he really does not trust alphas at all.
Max is a shifter. He is also a detective. He is an alpha having trouble with his new powers. He is also working on a case that could change his career. I liked Max. he is strong but not macho. He has a great heart and makes a perfect mate for Danny.
I liked this start to the Connoll Pack series. I cannot wait for more to come in the future as well. I think we have just hit the tip of the pack politics in this book and I would love to see that explored more and see how that plays out in the world they are living in.
Five Shooting Stars
This book is the first in a spin-off from the fun Camp H.O.W.L. books. Those books focused on characters at a camp for teen werewolves to prepare for and safely get through their first shift. Here we meet more supernatural beings, or supes, as they are often referred to. Danny is a werewolf who works with supernatural youth who are in the foster care system. Danny was raised to depend more on his human than his wolf side. Max, a detective on the grand larceny squad, is a binturong shifter. The men feel an immediate attraction when they meet, but Max is more alpha than Danny is comfortable with, since his father exhibits only the worst alpha traits. Poor Max spends pretty much the entire book trying to control his stronger alpha tendencies around Danny. It’s sweet and funny, but it makes me feel sorry for him at times.
The story is very engrossing. The storyline of the crime ring Max is investigating is great, though I wish there was more focus on that from Max’s POV, especially near the end. I hope the next book will fill in some blanks for me. Regardless, this is an excellent story, and I adore the characters of Danny and Max, as well as many of their friends and family members.
I love getting to see other supernatural beings here, and I’m especially curious to know more about the selkies. The action, romance, humor, and heart in this book make me look forward to the next story in the series. There are great opportunities for more exciting adventures in this magical world. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
This was a highly entertaining book. It’s the first book of the Camp Howl spin-off series Connoll Pack and features Danny and Max. It is set in the world of shifters, werewolves, and other paranormal creatures, and once again Bru Baker gives it her own twist. She creates her unique version of the much-loved trope of bonded mates and family packs.
It’s a fairly fast-paced story, but it never felt rushed. It’s low on angst and sex, but full of fun and romantic moments. Danny and Max stole my heart. They were so loveable and perfect for each other. They are bonded mates, but in the beginning, they don’t even know it. They are attracted to each other. That’s what counts for them. They get those weird feelings of jealousy and protectiveness, but leave it to their family to point out what they really are.
The entire story is all about family. Danny’s is anything but a loving and caring one, and as a result, he has been alone for a long time apart from his cousin, Sloane. Max’s, on the other hand, is the opposite. Warm, accepting, sometimes obnoxious as good siblings are supposed to be, they enfold Danny within their pack without question. It doesn’t matter that he’s a werewolf and Max is a shifter. Everybody is welcome, as it should be. I loved this different take on the pack dynamics.
The case Max is working on, which also affects Danny and his foundation for abandoned supernatural children, gives the story a bit of thrill and excitement and cements the bond between Max and Danny.
I recommend this story for all lovers of paranormal books. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is the first book in a spinoff of Camp H.O.W.L You do not have had to read that series to enjoy this. I am very happy to see this spin-off as the last book had hinted at one. I have been waiting and was not disappointed. I loved Danny, but how can you not love someone that gives up wealth to help kids dealing with difficulties. I also loved the supernatural aspect and not just weres.
I liked Max too. This is an Insta love, mate-bond type story but this is a Dreamspun Beyond book and it is supposed to be tropetastic and it is. I felt that the instant-bond was handled quite well and wasn’t too instant.
Max and Danny did try to make their relationship slow but the bond kept pulling at them and I felt that was more a natural thing.
Not only are the characters good, but the storyline is also as well. You have family drama, lots of action and some danger.
If you like Insta love, Mate-bonds, shifters, weres, supernatural characters, and an allover good romance you will like this one!
