Wow, this forbidden romance story blew me away. RVD did an outstanding plotting and writing with this one. Having all the twists and turns when Bridge has to become Julian and has his brother’s fiancée Izzy in the mix and the story took a whole new meaning. My emotions took a toll with this ride, I just couldn’t let it go, I wanted to know what happened next but yet I just can’t wait, I need the next one in the series asap. A must top read for this year!
I’ve read several of Rachel Van Dyken’s books before, and they are generally enjoyable with a lot of humor and a bit of angst. I tend to gravitate more towards humor than angst.
This is a twin-swap story, which is not totally original, but still enjoyable.
Bridge is a solid hero . He’s relatable, you understand his actions, you know why he goes along with everything. Julian, however, is not as likeable throughout the book, so you kind of want to ask Isabel what she’s thinking and remove the triangle early on. But if she did, they would be no book, right? Isabel needed a little more of a backbone, but you can understand why she’s torn.
Enjoyable read with some drama – do not read if you do not like triangles and angst. But there is a HEA, so you’re all good in the end.
Ok so this book is simply amazing. I didn’t know what to expect going in but I do know that I have a strong hate for Edward tennyson. He got everything he deserves. Bridge. I fell hard for him. Julian, he’s okay, he is nothing like his twin though. My heart felt for Izzy. She is a very strong woman for going through everything she did. I disliked the cliffhanger (not a bad one) I can’t wait for book 2
Bridge Anderson promised to protect his twin, Julian, that he’d always protect him; and that’s exactly what he did—until their parents divorced and he had to go with their mom while Julian stayed with their dad.
Years after tearing their family apart, his dad knocks on Bridge’s door making him an offer he couldn’t refuse: pretend to be his twin while Julian recovers from a car accident, and in return Edward will cover his dying mom’s medical expenses.
Things go smoothly until he starts falling for Julian’s fiancée , Isobel. Would he be able to live with himself if he steals her away from the brother he promised to protect?
The story reminded me of the 1993 (don’t age me!) political comedy Dave; only this is more romance-focused and they’re actually twins instead of lookalikes and it’s someone’s fiancée being stolen instead of a presidency.
The story is very intriguing and the writing was impeccable. I had to put my Kindle down and stop reading a few times just so I could postpone the inevitable!
The ending was one I didn’t see coming. It was heartbreaking and satisfying at the same time. Can’t wait to read Julian’s story in the second book of this series!
Stealing Her is a contemporary romance written in dual first person POV. It ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
Oh my gosh! This book…I just, wow.
My sister has been a huge fan of Rachel’s for a while and she’s been constantly on at me to read one of her books so when I seen the info about this one I knew I had to give it a shot. It’s sounded exactly like the kind of book I love to read and boy, I was right. It was absolutely amazing!
Identical twins, both love each other endlessly but when a marriage breaks down and a selfish father takes one and sends the other with their mother things are going to go down.
Bridge has had to work for what he has, to help keep his family fed and healthy. He’s a respectable man and kind hearted. He’ll do anything for his mom, for anyone he loves even if it means making a deal with the devil.
Julian is rich and entitled but the only thing he’s ever truly wanted is his fathers approval, he’d do anything to gain his respect and for him to be proud of him even if it means becoming someone he doesn’t want to be.
Two completely different brothers but yet the same in a many ways, separated at a young age and growing to dislike each other because of things that couldn’t be helped.
Isabel is living a life she doesn’t want. She grew to love a man that changed in ways she hated. She deserves more than what she gets and she knows it. I loved her for standing by what she wants and her knowing she deserves more. She’s an amazing woman but I just wish she stood her ground more on the way she was treated.
Watching this story play out has been so much fun. There were a few shocks that weren’t expected, ones that I loved and ones that made this story so much better than it already was. When I went into this book I was expecting certain things but this book smashed everything I expected and gave me so much more and I love LOVE when a book does that.
As I said above this is my first read by Rachel Van Dyken and I’m really glad I chose this one. It kept me hooked from the first page right up until the last. I can’t wait for book two because I NEEDBto learn more about Julian. If RVD’s other books are anything like this then I’m going to need to have a binge read right away.
Stealing Her was full of angst and drama. It’s a book about heartbreak and learning to love again. A book full of twists and feelings that you won’t be able to forget at any time. One of the best reads of 2019!
When I read the blurb for Stealing Her by Rachel Van Dyken , I knew I had to read this book. I love books about twins switching places and finding their siblings lives are anything but what they anticipated. I was immediately drawn into the story.
Bridge and Julian are twin brothers who always shared everything until their parents decided to divorce. While one grows up working several jobs to make ends meet while taking care of their mother, the other is living a life of luxury with a beautiful fiancé, a successful career, and plenty of wealth. Bridge learned what it means to have to earn every penny while Julian enjoyed a life of entitlement and ease. When Julian is in a serious car accident and on life support their father convinces Bridge to step into his life and take over his career. He promises to pay their mother’s medical bills. He needs Bridge to take over so the company doesn’t suffer because of Julian’s accident. Although Bridge is reluctant and resentful, he is also practical. He will do what needs to be done.
Stepping into his brother’s life was more difficult than he anticipated. Running a billion dollar company is even harder. Being near his father is worse than he imagined. Julian’s life is much more complex and difficult than it appeared. Can he let go of all his resentment and do what is best for his entire family? Can he deceive Izzy without hurting her, himself, or his brother?
Twists, turns, and no escape from an impossible situation are only the beginning. There is no easy way out for anyone. Rachel Van Dyken wrote a complex story loaded with angst and depth of emotions. This story was a bit darker and much more complex than most of her books. This book did not have the fun, fluffy banter, or comedic feel, it was intricately woven with intrigue, mystery, and emotional passages.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Stealing Her by Rachel Van Dyken after I had finished the book. This book has taken her writing to another level and proves how talented she truly is. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the Covet series!
If you love triangles involving brothers, family torn apart and manipulation then look no further then Stealing Her. Bridge is doing all he can to save his mom. Torn from his twin brother when his parents divorced leads to a read full of emotions and feelings. You feel for Bridge when he is put in a tough situation to take his brother Julian’s place within their fathers company. Add in Julians fiancee and you are going to be in for one heck of a ride. Isobel is in a rock and a hard place through all this. Secrets being held and thinking her old Julian is back. This is one crazy love triangle that will pull you in. I love the chemistry with Isobel and Bridge. You will hate Julian and Bridge’s father and that is ok because just wait until these brothers get pay back. I loved Bridge and Isobel together even if it took her it seemed like forever to figure things out. I can’t wait for Julians story to come.
Lies, money, heartbreak, it’s all here. I absolutely love this authors work so when I read the blurb to this I knew I just had to read it. One brother pretending to be another, sign me up.
When I e brother gets hurt the other brother steps in to take his place. Unaware that there are two of them Izzy remembers what drove her to love and her heart is starting to heal. These characters Izzy and Bridge are so easy to fall in love with and I loved watching them fall for each other. But just when things seem to be going great the lies and betrayal come out.
Loved this amazing story and can’t wait for Julian’s book!

This was a interesting book. I didn’t know what would happen, and what could happen.
Rachel Van Dyken is a new author to me. And I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I really felt for all the characters.
I really can’t wait to see what happens next.
This book is everything. There is so much emotional depth woven in the words and actions between Izzy and Bridge that I had to read it a second time already. STEALING HER is a beautifully composed story of strength and perseverance and soul-searching love.
RVD has masterfully given us a love story that is epic and wonderful. The words flow between characters and their actions speak louder than their words. This read has now become one of my favorite books of 2019, and dare I say, one of my favorite RVD books.
The intensity of the characters is believable and their backstories draw the reader in even further. There are emotional trials throughout the pages, but I believe that it makes the story that much better.
These characters will stay with me for a long time, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Omg…. its amazing just utterly amazing. Truly i loved it. These characters and this story line is simply the best and i hope there is more. You will not want to put this book down. Its a “just one more chapter” kind of book. Your heart will twist and you really wont know which way u want it to go.
Holy cow, what a book!! This is one of the rare books that I absolutely could not put down! Stealing Her is about an estranged brother falling for his twin’s fiancée. Bridge and Julian are identical twin brothers and haven’t been apart of each other’s lives since teenagers. When Julian is involved in a serious car accident, Bridge reluctantly agrees to pretend to be Julian for business purposes at his father’s request. But, he doesn’t count on meeting and falling for Julian’s fiancée, Izzy. This also adds a forbidden element to the story. I cringed often but also really rooted for Bridge and Izzy. It’s told in dual POV, which helped understand each side. There were so many secrets, lies and deception. This was such a unique story and something that will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommend!

Stealing Her is an amazing book written by Rachel Van Dyken. From the beginning to the end, the book was full of so many different emotions that at times you feel as if you’ve gotten whiplash.
Bridge and Julian are twins who were separated when their parents divorced. After years of estrangement, their dad shows up with a proposal for Bridge. If he will pretend to be Julian, then he will have enough money to pay for his mother’s hospital bills.
Isobel is Julian’s fiancee and has no idea what is going on and why Julian seems to be so different. I love all of her internal monologues and the fact the she is now a happy woman thinking that the Julian she fell in love with is back.
Full of the angst that we’ve come to love from a Rachel Van Dyken novel, I can admit that I’m anxiously awaiting Julian ‘s book.
4.5 Stars
A twin swap that pulled me in from very first page.
Julian and Bridge were split up during their parents divorce at thirteen. So when Julian’s involved in terrible accident, his father convinces Bridge to take his place. This story was so good especially when Bridge meets Izzy & discovers that she has a lot of bitterness towards him and he’s faced with trying to deal with all the wrongs Julian has committed. I loved Bridge. I could feel his struggle with trying to do the right things by his brother but still couldn’t stop himself from falling for Izzy. I didn’t really feel that badly for Julian because despite the situation he found himself in, he handled his relationship with Izzy very badly. In the end, I feel he was more upset about losing her as a friend than a fiancé. Bridge was definitely the better match for Izzy but I’d love to read more about Julian & hope he could redeem himself.
I received an arc from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow that was powerful. It Blew my mind and captured my heart. I give Stealing her 5 stars.
Isobel Cunningham is a beautiful young lady. Engaged to Julian Tennyson .
Julian Tennyson is a powerful soon to be CEO of his father’s company.
Bridge Tennyson is the other twin the father had sent away. But after an accident their father comes to Bridge for help.
First of all the storyline was so original and unlike anything I have read before. It immediately draws you in, so make sure you have time to read this book because you will not want to put it down. It kept me guessing the whole way through on what would happen next. There are so many tender and sweet moments throughout. Along with moments that had me laughing and moments of just raw emotion. I absolutely loved the characters and the storyline and just everything about this book, It was completely riveting!! Definitely going to have a book hangover from this one! I Highly Recommend you read Stealing Her, you will not be sorry!!!
I don’t even know where to start! This story had so many twists and turns. My heart was breaking for Isobel in the beginning and then I was so anxious through most of the story! I couldn’t read fast enough. This was a rollercoaster ride of emotions!
I had moments of rooting for Julian and then times I was rooting for Bridge. I am so anxious to get my hands on the next book!!!
Falling For The Not So Evil Twin
Falling in love with your brother’s fiance while your pretending to be him sounded like the perfect forbidden romance. Nothing is ever that black and white. Life’s messy.
Isobel was stuck in an engagment she was finally ready to walk away from. Her fiance Julian had hurt her for the last time. She was ready to walk away.
The unthinkable happens and Julian is seriously injured.
Julian was about to become CEO of his father’s company. The public finding out about how bad Julian’s condition is isn’t an option. Good thing Julian’s estranged, identical twin can step in.
Bridge needs to take over Julian’s life and no one can know. He’ll get what he needs out of the deal and give Julian what he’s always wanted. The only hitch in the plan is Isobel. Bridge never expected to find himself falling for his brother’s fiance.
The story captured my attention and I read it in one sitting. Bridge is sweet and romantic. He makes his fair share of mistakes, but his reasons are pure. Isobel is smart. She has so much guilt regarding her choices, but she is a good person. She lost part of herself, but being with Bridge helps her remember who she is.
Suspense, secrets, heartache, forgiveness and unexpected love. Ultimately we saw that the love for family lead Bridge to choose the path he did. He found the love of his life and his future, even though it came at great cost. I want redemption for Julian. I will be looking forward to his story.
Another amazing story by Rachel Van Dyken!
The blurb sucked me right in with the story and teamed with the fact it was written by one of my unicorn authors made me jump on it straight away.
If you love a story full of secrets, lies and deceit then this is the story for you. I experienced a lot of ups and downs, all the emotions reading this, hating the characters and then loving them again. The story had me glued to the pages because I needed to know what was going to happen next.
Over all a fantastic read with a brilliant plot.
Stealing Her stole my heart and consumed my mind from start to finish! This story is fire and ice, hope and desperation, forgiveness and love. Rachel took angst to a whole new level with this book. My heart broke for Julian and Bridge, the gorgeous twin brothers, separated by greed, deceit, isolation and pain. There were times I couldn’t breath from the loss and devastation. Bridge and Isobel will make you swoon. They make each other better and stronger in this crazy situation. Their love and devotion is undeniable and unstoppable because they are the halves that make each other whole. This is such a thought provoking, spectacular tale that grabs your heart as it tries to explode right out of your chest!
