Steal My Heart by JH Croix is the last in her Swoon Series. When asked which one is the best, I have to answer, the one I’m reading now. This is no exception. I loved, loved, loved this book! Ash (Ashley) Stone is finally on her way home after a couple of years of being away. Having explicit photos featuring her groom texted to her was enough to not only call off the wedding, but also make her swear to never love again. So she didn’t. She ran off with a man who was a “friend with benefits.” After while that got old, too, so she booked herself some singing gigs along the way and headed out. Hitchhiking. After a pretty good set, she heard a familiar voice calling her name. Mack Blair, her brother’s good friend. How can that be, way out here? He was going home, too. She could ride with him. He was in no hurry so the gigs she had booked could work out.
Mack was a good guy. . . first responder, like her brother. In fact, going home to a job that Jackson was holding for him with Stolen Hearts Search and Rescue. He’s been away for years, trying to recover from the death of his sister, whom he hadn’t been able to rescue. It seemed simple at first: motel rooms with two beds; shared meals; hearing her sing, his favorite part. The tension built between them until nothing could stop them. It was good, so good, but both of them denied that anything was happening. Finally arriving at Stolen Hearts Lodge, they kept their relationship a secret, or so they naively thought, allowing their passion to rise to the surface, only a night when Mack snuck over to Ash’s cabin, or so he thought. Then everything started to happen, and it happened fast. People noticed. Things were discovered. What a fabulous story. Read it for yourself. Steal My Heart is the last of the series and sooo worth waiting for. I loved it. You will, too. Totally recommend.

Ash has planned a road trip to get back home, singing and playing guitar in bars along the way. At a bar in Wyoming she runs into several problems, one being Mack who is her big brothers best friend. Ash has to agree to go on the road trip with Mack since she’s broke and was going to hitchhike all the way. They grew up together and never felt a twinge of want, but now is a new story. Ash has problems because of the men in her past and Mack can’t get over the guilt that he couldn’t save his sister from a lake accident. You will love the ride they take each other with all the twists and turns of two people who don’t quite believe in themselves. MS Croix has outdone herself with another great, entertaining, page turner, read that includes all the characters of Stolen Hearts Valley, North Carolina.
