She’s ready to leave Prosper behind, forever. So why did she have to meet him, of all times, and at all places? That was never the plan.
USA Today bestselling author Heather B. Moore welcomes you to Prosperity Ranch!
Disaster seems to follow Evie Prosper’s dating life everywhere. A fresh start can only mean leaving Prosper forever, which is what she’s determined to do, until she meets Carson … she’s determined to do, until she meets Carson Hunt. He unknowingly saves her from another dating disaster, yet their paths keep crossing. Carson is relocating to Prosper of all places, and if Evie could change that one thing about him, she might rethink their connection.

Evie Prosper’s dating life could be better, and it probably would be if she’d dated when she was in high school. With three over protective, older brothers, the one and only date she’d had was to the prom. She’s about to graduate from college and still hasn’t experienced her first kiss. The fact that she keeps adding “types” of guys to her ever growing list of guys she won’t date, such as accountants and cowboys might also have something to do with her disastrous dating life. Who does Evie meet after adding cowboys? The handsome and utterly charming Carson Hunt, who’s at the same college earning his MBA.
Evie and Carson’s first meeting was quite memorable, and they kept running into each other afterward. I thought Evie’s reason for not wanting to date a “cowboy” was kind of silly/childish, along with a few other things she chose to do, but I blamed it on the way her family treated her. I felt they never really let her grow up. I completely understood why she didn’t visit Prosper very often–her family tends to treat her as if she’s still in high school, and Prosper’s such a small town everybody knows everything about everyone. Which is why Evie has no plans to return after she graduates from college.
Carson is wonderful. Evie has a few insecurities and he’s just what she needs. Carson also helps her family see they need to change how they treat Evie–she’s not in high school anymore and she has dreams and ambitions of her own. I liked that Carson’s grandpa helped him see it was okay to follow his heart and be with Evie.
This is a good standalone book. You don’t have to read One Summer Day (Prosperity Ranch Book 1) to enjoy this one.
A well written romance story of Evie Prosper who just wants to stay out of her small home town and away from her interfering brothers She falls for Carson, who has plans to help his grandpa at his ranch, guess where, at her small home town. Will they work it out? Or will this be the deal breaker?
I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
I enjoy Heather B. Moore books. The Prosper family has been especially interesting. Evie had a hard time growing up the baby sister of three protective older brothers. The characters are all well-developed and the story line makes sense. Carson is one of the truly nice guys and he does not finish last. Get to know the people of Prosper.
Every girl dreams and of having a boyfriend like Carson. He is the perfect boyfriend for Evie. They are an adorable couple now ready to take on the world.
Excellent second book in the Prosperity Ranch series. I really enjoyed the characters of Evie and Carson. No one is perfect, but these two are good for each other! Good character development and depth.
Evie doesn’t have a lot of experience dating… how can you with three over protective older brothers? Carson is dealing with the loss of his brother and hasn’t been in the social scene for a while. But he happens to be at the right place at the right time to help Evie out of a dating situation. And it looks like maybe they could be friends. But what happens when Carson wants to move to the very place Evie has sworn she’d never move back to?
(Plus, isn’t this one of the best lines you’ve ever read?
“You’re already fighting your own battles, Evie, I’m just carrying your sword when it gets a little too heavy to wield alone.”
I mean, who doesn’t want someone who says that to be in their corner?)
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
An awesome addition to the series by Heather B. Moore, this was a welcome surprise in my inbox this morning! I couldn’t put it down, as I got pulled into the story of Holt’s sister, Evie, and the amazing Carson.
This story touches on a little bit of everything, including losing family to dealing with past hurts and small towns. So many sweet moments.
Well-written, well-paced, and a clean romance that can be read alone, but I look forward to the rest!
I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’m taking out a star from this review even though Carson is the ideal guy–handsome, intelligent, athletic, kind, and extremely patient. Unfortunately, the heroine, Evie, irritates me to no end. She’s just so insecure, immature, and naive (though I’m glad she recognizes these so it’s a plus for me). I do understand her issues growing up and why she ended up behaving as she did, but she just didn’t “grow up” in the book (there were some conflict resolutions towards the end, but still…)
Well, I managed to finish the book because it was just so well-written (Heather Moore is just talented, like that!). I can only imagine when Carson’s patience with Evie would last. I just believe he deserves a better partner, though.
This is such a sweet story! I really adored Carson and how he stood up for Evie time and again and helped her–and her family–realize that she deserved to be treated better than she had been. Evie was such a realistic character, especially with how she wanted to find love but also got freaked out when a guy showed interest in her. That just made her seem very real and relatable. I liked seeing her work through her emotions and go after what she wanted.
Another fun book from Heather B. Moore!
I read an ARC provided by the publisher. All opinions are my own.
A very well written and descriptive story. The characters Evie and Carson are both likable and relatable.
Evie struggles with her self worth and what she feels is lacking strength. Carson struggles with loss and loneliness.
When they meet they have the opportunity to help one another and it is a great journey.
There is humor and tears and well worth the read!
It is fun to follow the series but this book can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading the first one as well. I look forward to reading more!
This is the second book in the Prosperity Ranch series. This story is about Holt’s sister, Evie, just before College graduation. The thoughts of going back the her hometown of Prosper were heavy on her mind. When Carson Hunt pops in to the picture. He is also soon to graduate with he’s MBA. He plans on moving to Prosper to help his Grandad build up his business. Sparks fly pretty quickly between Evie & Carson. It made butterflies fly inside me! Evie is struggling with self worth and Carson is still grieving the sudden loss of his brother. Can the find strength in one an other? It’s a fun sweet read about finding happiness! Although part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone
