I absolutely loved Steal My Heart; it is an incredible second chance love story. It is the third book in the Bachelors and Bridesmaids series. Each book in the series gets better and better, but I think that Steal My Heart is my favorite story in the series so far. I love that they series is based on the lives of seven women who met in college, became best friends, and promised to be bridesmaids in one another’s weddings. Barbara Freethy has once again shown that she is an amazing storyteller. Steal My Heart did not disappoint, I could not put it down and I loved every page. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Steal My Heart is a second chance at first love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud and the bittersweet moments that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. Steal My Heart is filled with such moments, and with so much emotion. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Steal My Heart is the story of Michael Stafford, former professional quarterback and Liz Palmer, who works for Damien, Falks, and Palmer, the PR firm that her father help found. Michael is currently working for her sister’s PR firm. Liz and Michael knew each high school, where Michael would always beat Liz when they ran against each other. They meet in the offices of a new local amusement whose owner is looking for PR firm to help with strategic planning. Four different companies will submit proposals for the contract. Liz and Michael spend time with one another exploring the amusement park. As they spend time together, they each admit to having feeling for one another in high school and things change between them. Michael is concerned what will happen between him and Liz if his company wins the contract. Liz lets her walls crumble and lets Michael back into her heart and love. I love that they were both so vulnerable and that Liz changed because of Michael’s rekindled love and that Michael changed his mind about his future in football. I love that Michael always calls her Lizzie, and how they played football together before dinner at the Palmers house. Michael won her heart by the kind gesture he did for her father, and how he helped her overcome her fears of roller coasters. I loved that Steal My Heart is a more than just a romance, there are dilemmas that both Liz and Michael are facing that need to be resolved. I love that there were multiple storylines: Michael’s future in football, Liz’s father’s battle with cancer, the uncertainty surrounding Liz’s job, but most importantly Liz and Michael’s story. I love Liz’s heart to heart conversation with her father regarding her job and her future at Damien, Falks and Palmer. I love how all the storylines get so beautifully resolved. I love all the descriptions of the California area setting that Barbara Freethy detailed. Steal My Heart is filled with the poignant and bittersweet moments in the story as well as the plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in Barbara Freethy’s stories. I love the cast of characters in Steal My Heart and I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Who doesn’t love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? Reading Steal My Heart felt like a family reunion, because the reader was able to catch up with the other characters in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed Steal My Heart, who doesn’t love a second chance at first love story. Highly recommend this wonderfully written story.
