What happens to a couple when one of them discovers a new kink that he’s not sure his partner will be into? Dear Art,I’m sure you get messages like this all the time, but I feel like I don’t even know who I am anymore. I suppose I should start from the beginning… Three weeks ago, I saw puppy play for the first time, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Wait, no, that’s not really the … not really the beginning… Ten years ago, my best friend who I’d been in love with my entire life told me he loved me too.
For ten years, I’ve been living in complete bliss with Lars, the man of my dreams. Don’t get me wrong, we have our fights and disagreements (mostly because I do irritating shit, and every once in a while, he reaches the end of his patience), but he is my other half in every way. I didn’t know I could love someone the way I love him.
Then, the puppy thing happened. It’s not so different from when I realized I was gay; there was a moment where everything sort of clicked into place, and my whole body was like “Yes, that’s what we’ve been trying to figure out all this time.” At first, I thought maybe I should just let it go because it’s not the kind of thing I can imagine my partner being into. But last week I went into a kink shop and ended up walking out with a puppy hood. I stashed it in our guest bedroom closet and haven’t even had the courage to take it out and try it on again, let alone show it to Lars. I don’t know what to do. How do I bring this up to him? And what if he isn’t into it? I feel like I don’t recognize myself anymore, and I don’t know where to turn. Please help.
Sincerely,
One Lost Puppy

This was a great book! I thought it might be a bit strange as I wasn’t all that familiar with Puppy Play, but the lifestyle was explained very well (although, being unfamiliar with that kink I can’t guarantee it was accurate, but it seemed like it was portrayed well.) Jonah and Lars were written well, and the side characters are fun too. This is a lighthearted yet still steamy read, low angst and with a HEA.
I’d also recommend checking out Ziggy (K Boys Book 2) (but you’ll want to read Daddy (K Boys Book 1) first…And probably you should read the Ballsy Boys series first, as Kinky Boys are the spin off of that series.) Anyway, Ziggy is also about Puppy Play and is equally adorable.
When Jonah realizes that he wants to explore the world of puppy play, he is unsure how to approach his partner and best friend, Lars. They have been together for forever and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with their sex life, there is just something about puppy play and the whole master thing that flips Jonah’s switch. Lars knows when something is bothering Jonah, and the fear that maybe just maybe Jonah wants a different life with someone else does cross his mind. What will Lars think when he learns the truth about whats bothering Jonah? Will he be on board or is this just a little too weird?
So, first off, puppy play is not my thing but so far K.M. Neuhold has yet to write something that was horrible so I figured why not give it a try. I LOVED how the author played the whole thing out, that we learned with the characters as they were exploring this new to them kink. There were some really hot moments in this story, and I’m excited to see what is coming next in this series. I give this 5 stars.
Stay, #1of the Working Out The Kinks series.
Neuhold has really stepped up her game with Stay! Omg, I loved Jonah and Lars. Their relationship, the chemistry between them after ten years together is amazing!
“How can this feel so right and so good when it’s not something Lars will want to share with me? Since birth we’ve been two peas in a pod, always on the same page, and heading in the same direction. I love him more than anything, so how can I possibly tell him about this?”
I loved the puppy play, and how it just made everything more perfect!
“I am owned and I am loved.”
Blown away by this. The love Jonah and Lars have for each other is so real and so strong. I loved the puppy play, and the uncertainty at the start of it. It was truly beautifully seeing them evolve but grow closer still. Loved it.
OMG!!!
This is everything and then some. There is so much I love about this book. Lars and Jonah are amazing guys. The fact that they have been friends their whole life and a couple for ten years was a big hit with me. From the beginning you can see aspects of their personality that fits what they become. Every discussion and step is handled perfectly. One of the things the author brought up in here is that even in the same kink there are variations. It’s so important that people understand that, both those who want to explore and those just reading about it. I have read many books with kink and there are certain things that make up my favorites. Respect for the kink and those in it is first my top prop but when they add in making it understandable to those reading it by explaining not only the kink but the steps to fully embrace it, that’s what wins it hands down. I feel the author did an amazing job and I can’t wait for more. I want Seb’s, Vale’s, Addie’s, and Adrian’s stories. Greedy much lol.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
OMGGGG this book was so cute and fluffy and sweet it just melted my heart. Puppy play is not my thing but KM Neuhold crafted this in such a way that it really was the perfect starter book for someone wanting to dip their toe in the kink pool! I loved that this was a low angst book and that the characters didn’t drag out issues for chapters on end. They know each other so well and it definitely shows in their words and actions.
The love between Lars and JJ is just so real. I love they are still discovering new things about each other so far into their relationship. These are goals I think every couple strives to still have in their own relationships!
Stay is a different topic from what K.M. Neuhold has written before. But I can say with 100% certainty that her foray into puppy play is a winner.
Jonah and Lars have been together as a couple for 10 years but have known each other all their lives. One small incident exposes Jonah to puppy play and his life changes. And it seems like Lars isn’t attracted to puppy play. Can Lars give Jonah what he is now craving? Or is this going to be the one thing that changes their relationship and life forever?
What I normally like about books is that the unbelievable can happen…even if it’s something that would never happen in real life. Reading suspends reality for me and takes me to a place where anything is possible. Stay is the opposite of this. Lars and Jonas’ story is so believable and this is one big reason it was such a fantastic read. I can picture this exact scenario happening for real where one member of a relationship discovers a kink that they never knew existed and it becomes something they need. The fear of telling the other member comes across palpably in K.M. Neuhold’s writing as though it was really happening. Within a few pages I was invested in Lars and Jonah and their story and many of the words that K.M. Neuhold wrote brought tears to my eyes (“One Lost Puppy” being one such phrase).
K.M. Neuhold has taken a chance in writing something so different from her norm that I hope her readers who haven’t read puppy play take that same chance and read the fantastic story she has given us and that they become as emotionally invested in the lives of these two men as I did while reading Stay. Both main characters are endearing and loveable, and there are plenty of side characters whose stories I am now dying to read, so I can only hope this amazing and talented author gets the chance to write their stories because her readers give this first in the series a chance and love it as much as I do.
In conclusion: a different read from a great author who has created characters that had me becoming invested in their lives. If you take the chance on Stay you won’t be disappointed.
