It is very rare that a book will strike me dumb or speechless with its amazing quality. I’m quite positive that I can count on my one hand the number of those books, and this little gem right here belongs in that category.
“The inescapable truth is, we are destined for this. No matter your resistance, our hearts are relentless. Each time we drift, we’ll only collide once more. Over and over again in inescapable truth: You and I belong together”.
Trust me when I say that this story needed to be read and felt in its entirety. Right from the start, the angst, oh my god, the angst of this story left me breathless. I find myself having trouble breathing because I felt so deeply with the story. Aside from personal reasons that took me a while reading this, the fact that I wanted to just savor and prolong my reading was one of the major reasons. Amazing, in my opinion doesn’t fully describe what I felt.
“He wasn’t just a guy. He was the guy capable of seeing me in a way no one else had.”
At first, I didn’t connect with Mia. Her personality in this story will push you away from her but once you get to know her, through her mind ramblings and the reason behind it, you will feel very protective of her like Ollie did. Mia is at the very core, a very strong young woman despite and in spite of the traumatizing moment that happened to her. Her fear is understandable and I loved how Ollie helped her overcome it.
“Stay with me, even when I’m gone.”
“We were meant to be together, but this lifetime wasn’t meant for us.”
Ollie, sweet, sensitive Ollie. This young man will steal your heart with his compassion, sensitivity and beauty of his inner light. I can’t express how hard I fell in love with his loving ways towards Mia; how he fights for her in every way. With the way the story ends in this first book, it’s needless to say that I need the next installment. I love, love, love this! Can’t recommend this enough!
This is Nicole’s debut novel, I loved the cover and had heard great things about it from fellow book lovers so I wanted to read the book that everyone was talking about. Stay With Me centres around college age young adults that are at an institutionalised school in England, for youths with Mental Health/behavioural issues. The heroine of the story Mia is sent from America by her Father following two failed suicide attempts and irrational behaviour. Ollie the Hero is already a student at Dolar when Mia arrives and they are instantly intrigued by each other.
What I loved about this novel was that Mia and Ollie were almost total opposites in every way, while also throwing stereotypes on their heads. Ollie is the male protagonist yet he is the empath, the poet, the dreamer, the protector and wears his heart on his sleeve. Mia however is closed off, she doesn’t feel, she is emotionally detached, seemingly uncaring, brutally honest and an introvert, which are characteristics I would typically expect from the male characters in the story.
I won’t go into plot points because I would prefer people read those elements themselves. What I will say is that I found the first half of the book rather slow to progress and I didn’t really feel attached to the characters. Throughout the book there were a lot of scenes that felt superfluous to me and were not necessary aside from being repetitive and stilting the flow a little for my liking. That said the novel as a whole is well written and expressive; but I felt it could have been trimmed back a little. Most group interactions did seem to centre around sex, but for the age of the characters that isn’t unusual.
At around the halfway point you get more plot points that begin to feed their way into Ollie and Mia’s narrative and this is what kept me gripped to the story. As my interest grew so did my connection to Ollie and Mia, breaking points began to happen that changed things up giving a multi dimensional feel to the story that I was wrapped up in until the very end.
Stay With Me in the latter half of the book became a novel I was truly invested in, packing more of an emotional edge to it, a fair few twists and turns that left me curious about book two ‘Even When I’m Gone’. There were a few magical moments that endeared me more to Ollie in particular and that was his interactions with a secondary character Zeke and “Close Your Eyes” that’s all I will say but that one line is what stands out for me, a poignant and beautiful sentiment that I will talk about for a long time.
I just finished Stay With Me. I am in awe that this is a debut novel! Nicole’s writing is extraordinary. She has outstanding talent and serious guts to tackle a plotline/subject matter this unique and intense for her first novel. She is an author to watch for sure!
Mia is enrolled in a reformatory college where she meets the most beautiful cast of characters. Each, including herself, is so very damaged, complicated, and strong. And in Ollie’s case, beautiful inside and out. In other characters’ situations, not so much. I loved being apart of Mia and Ollie’s journey. I am dying to see what’s next!
Nicole’s portrayal of Mia adjusting to Dolor was 100% spot on – from walking into the mess hall, being locked in her room at night, and describing the emptiness of the dorms. It was so realistic. You see, I was enrolled in a reformatory boarding school when I was 16, and it was exactly the same. Outside of my personal life experience, Nicole’s depiction of those scenes made them jump off the page.
Stop what you’re doing and pick up this book. No aspect of you will regret it. I promise!
Stay With Me By Nicole Fiorina is an absolutely amazing Reformatory College Romance. This is Nicole’s debut novel and she knocked it out of the park. This story took me on an emotional roller coaster that I didn’t want to get off. I cannot wait until I get my hands on the second book Even When I’m Gone which will be released October 29, 2019.
First thing I have to say is WOW! This definitely does not feel like a debut novel. Nicole Fiorina knocked the air from my lungs with this book!
This was such an emotional book, so much so I couldn’t put it down. It held my attention from beginning to end. You can’t help but to connect and fall in love with Ollie and Mia. Ollie captured my heart with his sweet and gentle nature and how he views the world around him. What they go through I felt down in my soul. This book emotionally wrung out me out! I can’t wait until the end of the month for the next book!
This book could have triggers for some. It does deal with some sensitive subjects.
My mind is still in emotional turmoil over this book! I’m a huge fan of emotional reads and Stay With Me is definitely a hit. I’m angry, sad, confused, happy, jumping with glee and back to angry and sad. Mia and Ollie are total opposites. Where Mia is closed off and has her walls up, Ollie feels too much. These two complete each other perfectly. It’s the matter of where they are, how they got there, and what happens that really ticks me off. But, if they hadn’t ended up at Dolor, they wouldn’t have met, so there’s that.
Stay With Me is a story of survival. It deals with mental illness in a very real way. It does have some darker moments, so if that isn’t your cup of tea, you may want to stay away. It captivated me. I’m completely invested in Mia and Ollie. Their story ends on a to be continued…and I can’t wait to see the author takes them in the next book.
Life consists of tiny moments—moments that define you, moments that shape you, moments that lead you down a path of reflection, self-discovery, and purpose. These heartbeats of moments are collections of who you are and who you are meant to be—little moments. And we only remember the ones that have impacted our souls.
Stay With Me by Nicole Fiorina has left me completely breathless and utterly ruined! OH. MY. GOD! I am dying right now! I just finished this book with tears in my eyes (AND I DO NOT CRY!), I really don’t even have time to write this review right now but I just NEEDED to do it now while all these emotions are still fresh on my mind. Seriously, I just… I don’t even know what to say. I am completely and utterly flabbergasted that this is Fiorina’s DEBUT novel!! Honestly, I don’t believe it, I think she MUST have written under another pen name or SOMETHING because there is just way that THIS is a debut novel! HOLY. CRAP! I just found a new favorite author! This book is raw and it’s real. It’s far from an “easy” read and I’m sure it won’t be for everyone. But if you are looking for a book that will touch your soul… you have found it here with Stay With Me.
I need you to feel for me, and once you do, I need you to stay.
Mia Jett is an American girl just shy of her nineteenth birthday who’s mental stability has become an issue. Her father and stepmother have had enough and after her latest antics end with her almost being thrown into a mental institution, her father pleads with the judge to send her to Dolar, a reformatory college all the way in England.
While at Dolar she meets an eccentric group of students who even though Mia puts up a struggle, manages to pull her into their small circle of delinquents.
Among them… Oliver Masters.
Emotional Intensity. Basically, I feel too much, while you feel nothing. Ollie dropped his head to see my reaction. It’s as if this world is playing a cruel joke on us.
Mia suffers from the inability to feel emotions. But when all of a sudden this sweet, sexy, bad boy starts to have an effect on her, making her feel, something she hasn’t done in years. It wrecks havoc on her already fragile mental state.
With Ollie, I’d found a safe place. I’d found refuge from the storm inside my head.
Mia doesn’t feel anything, while Ollie feels everything.
But Mia wasn’t born this way. Something traumatic caused her mind to build up a wall to repress her memories and everything else. To protect her from it all. But every single time Ollie chips away at that wall not only do those feelings start to come through but the memories are able to seep through the cracks as well.
I’m not going to save you, Mia I don’t want to be the one. I’m going to show you how to save yourself.
Mia may have built this wall around her heart, her emotions, and her memories but Ollie is determined to help her help herself break through it and finally begin to heal.
But it’s nowhere near easy sailing for these two… and their troubles are far, far from over.
You have to break through, and it’s going to hurt, and it’s going to be painful, but you have to because I’m ******* selfish and I want you. He shook his head. No, I need you.
You guys, if you listen to no other book recommendation from me then listen to this one. Stay With Me completely WRECKED ME! It’s intense, it’s unpredictable and it is so, so heartbreakingly beautiful. Not even kidding this shit broke my heart. Again, this one is far from an easy read, it covers quite a few really sensitive topics, it’s intense and you are going to go through a plethora of emotions but I promise you, Ollie and Mia’s story is so worth it. These aren’t the type of characters and this isn’t the type of book that you forget once you finish the last page and move on to the next one. No. This one is going to stay with you. You won’t be forgetting Mia or Ollie any time soon.
When it came down to you and me, I’d never thought you’d be the one to slip away.
OK, let me just start off by saying that prologue… SHEESH! It’s set in the future so the prologue is actually the end of the book… OK, so in saying that, the entire time I was reading, watching Mia and Ollie’s attraction grow and then take on something else entirely… that prologue stuck with me. I just knew that we were going to have to come back around to that prologue at some point and I just kept waiting for the moment that my heart would break. And when it came… I was completely devastated. I STILL wasn’t ready for it.
I’m bulletproof, yet she’s slowly penetrating every part of me. —Oliver Masters
When Nicole Fiorina found me on Instagram and asked if I wanted to check out her debut novel, I almost turned her down. Honestly, I really just didn’t have the time to take on anything extra. But I had seen teasers being posted for a couple of weeks and since the book is already out, I had heard good things. So I took a chance and said yes. I have never been happier to have taken a chance on a new author then I am after finishing this book. I am so impressed! Her writing, her style, THIS is why I love reading new authors because sometimes you find a gem like Nicole. She is so descriptive in the way that she writes that I felt like I was right there climbing through those damn vents, hanging out on the floor of Ollie’s room, passing around a bottle, laid back listening to music, I was just so entranced that I felt like I was right there alongside them. The characters literally came to life in my mind. The somewhat poetic dialogue at times and quotes from Ollie, I have NEVER highlighted a book the way I highlighted this one.
After all, with him was where my soul belonged.
Mia, she’s feisty, stubborn, and marches to the beat of her own drum. Mia is a hard character to like in the beginning. She’s just so HARD. But once you find out what all she’s gone through… heartbreaking. And everything about Mia starts to make a whole lot more sense. She’s tough as nails with a wall built up bigger than the Grand Canyon but Ollie sees right through it all and to the pain hiding inside of her right from the very beginning.
All along, we’d been connected. My light illuminated in his presence because his soul was the one mine had been promised to.
Ollie, oh my God. My sweet, sweet Ollie. I am completely head over heels in love with Oliver Masters. Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than Ollie. He’s there for Mia every step of the way, even when she pushes him away… in more ways than one and some are downright awful. Most would have given up, but Ollie holds strong and helps her help herself in the only way he knows how. By loving her without restraint. He is one of the most swoon-worthy book boyfriends I have ever read! When he cuddles with her while HE reads to HER… the way he builds her up when she’s constantly tearing herself down, ya’ll I can’t say it enough you NEED to meet Ollie. I am so, soooo scared of what happens now. I don’t want to see a different Ollie but I have a feeling that’s EXACTLY what’s going to happen next.
And if one day I don’t recognize you, I’ll love you anyway. —Oliver Masters
The connection between Ollie and Mia is nothing short of absolutely magical. I can’t put it into words and actually do it justice so I’m not even going to try. This is one where I can’t explain it, you just have to read and FEEL it for yourself.
She was my reflection. She was my other half. She was everything I wasn’t. She completed me. She was home.
Without a single doubt, Stay With Me is one of my TOP reads of 2019, if not my #1 read, then SWM comes in a very, very close second!! What an absolutely incredible journey… and it’s not over.
She was my heaven, I was her hell. —Oliver Masters
I NEED BOOK TWO. I NEED Mia and Ollie to get their happily ever after, together. I need it like I need my next breath. I am BEYOND ready for Even When I’m Gone.
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend checking this one out. I plan on reading the next book and whatever else Fiorina puts out after that! An absolute MUST-READ!
Stay with me, even when I’m gone. Promise.

THIS BOOK WRECKED ME! I am completely in love with this story and these characters. NOTHING I write could ever describe just how amazingly beautiful this story is. I am STILL beyond shocked that this is Fiorina’s DEBUT novel! MIND = BLOWN! Seriously, I would give this one wayyy more then 5-stars if I could!
There is a LOT of steam in this one! Ollie is… sheesh. Ollie is just MORE in every way and my oh my when that boy turns on the charm… FIREWORKS!
CLIFFHANGER WARNING: HUGE, HUGE, HUGE cliffhanger you guys! You will get sooo attached to Mia and Ollie and the way this one ended has me ready to sell my soul to get my hands on an ARC of Even When I’m Gone (Book #2) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! I need to know what happens next with Mia and Ollie like I need my next breath!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
Debut novel by debut author totally had me shook! Nicole Fiorina delivers such a brilliant story with a unique storyline. I’ve never read anything like it before. Stay With Me had me so emotionally invested and I felt so in touch with Mia’s feelings and thoughts as the majority of the book was told in her POV aside from the epilogue. The characters were fantastic and I love how Ollie and Mia shared a connection so deep. There were many scenes where I felt for them. This book will certainly leave you in the feels. Ms. Fiorina’s writing style is absolutely beautiful. Stay With Me is raw, heartbreakingly beautiful and will touch your very soul.
“To everyone, she’s seen as nothing. With everything I have, she is quite the someone.”—Oliver Masters
I loved this book and I can’t believe that this is the author’s debut novel. Her writing is pure magic, I couldn’t get enough of her words and I can’t wait to read more from her. You can see that she has done her research for this book,I can’t explain how much I love authors that do,specially when they are writing about sensitive topics.
Mia and Ollie are everything! Their relationship is so unique, special and I love them both so much. I love how much they complete each other and how much they help each other heal. Ollie is everything, he is so kind, so good for Mia and I love more than anything that he never gave up on her even when it was too hard to stay, he always did. Both of them are damaged and betrayed by people who were supposed to protect and love them. I love how they found what they were missing in each other. And I loved reading about Mia’s relationship and confession time with Zeke( I want to hug him and protect him from the world)This book wasn’t easy to read, there were moments when I wanted to strangle some characters, few scenes that were to hard to read, but at the same time this is one of the best books I read this year. I’m in love with Nicole’s writing style, I cannot recommend this book enough and I cannot wait for the second book in the series
This book is amazing! It has love, lust, romance, heartbreak, growth, originality, and great plot twists. I could not put it down. It was so different from what I normally read. Initially you think Mia and Ollie meet because they are troubled kids who need to be set straight, instead you get to go on a journey and you learn about the psychological issues that make them who they are. I felt every single emotion and by the end of the book I felt I made some friends. Nicole Fiorina did such a great job playing with my emotions but I loved every single second of it! It does leave as a cliff hanger but this book its definitely worth it! I cannot wait until the second book!!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazingly written story!
One of my top reads of 2019. Nicole Fiorina her stakes claim in the literary world with this debut novel, commanding all the authority and talent of a veteran author. She offers a devastatingly beautiful story of contradictions, love, and perseverance in the world of behavioral health and sexual abuse. The subject matter is raw and gritty and Fiorina writes with a fervor meant to evoke the reader’s emotion. Absolutely love these characters, the story line, and the connotation behind the entirety of this novel. 5 stars.
OMG! What did I just read! This book is an amazing piece of literature that I just couldn’t put down. Told from the perspective of Mia, it tells the story of a girl who literally has no feelings (or rather pushed them down so much that she has no feelings) and takes us on her journey through Dalor, a university for those with mental illness and who are deemed dangerous to society. But nothing is as it seems and Mia is housed with those who are there to manipulate and cause carnage no matter the consequences. All of this changes when Mia meets Ollie, a green eyed, tattooed, poet. But Ollie may just be Mia’s downfall…..or her saviour!
This book is amazing! The words just seem to flow off the page as you get embroiled in Mia’s psyche. It is like being dropped down the rabbit-hole and knowing that you can’t really escape. There are definitely moments when you don’t like Mia because of what she does to hurt other people and to keep herself safe, but by the end of the book, you are totally rooting for her and have more insight into why she is the way she is.
There are some true horrifying moments in this book which may be a trigger for other readers, but the author handles them in a way which although not always a HEA, but a more relatable, everyday life type of way (I can’t give too much away because of spoilers). On the other hand there are some beautiful moments between Ollie and Mia and a few of the other characters as they field their way through their life at Dalor. There is such poetry between Ollie and Mia and the author has even included poems written by Ollie at the start of each chapter which give you brief glimpses into what is going on in Ollie’s head.
This book is filled with angst, emotion, betrayal, disability, poetry to name but a few and you just want to get to the end of the book to see what happens. Ms. Firoina has created characters that you may not love 100% and at times you totally hate them! But holy-moley do they make you want to read to the end to see what happens!
This book ends on a cliff-hanger….and what a cliff-hanger it is. Through it all though, I am totally cheering for Ollie and Mia because if anyone deserves a HEA, it’s them.
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

All the emotions. Drained. Emotionally depleted. Loved it. It wrecked me, but I LOVED it!!! It’s been a while since I’ve read such a beautiful story. It has a sort of poetic vibe, the way she writes the deep emotions. Sometimes hard to read and fathom, but beautiful nevertheless.
Really made me think and feel. Is this what it really feels like when this happens? Is this how deep and dark a person goes to shut out memories? Why is it that people who are supposed to be there to love and help you don’t follow through, don’t believe you, and aren’t there to save you? I know there are institutions like this in place, but this can’t be what happens in them. Can it??
Aside from the emotional drain and the love I have for Ollie & Mia, there are a few things I felt that could really push it to 5stars for me. ***One being the adult supervision. Where was it? This is an institution where youth troubled by many different degrees of issues attend and it felt like there was never an adult around when there should’ve been or when they needed one. I think knowing an adult could’ve walked in at anytime would have helped the angst in the story a bit more. Not to mention it could’ve helped the teens. ***Second, I think Mia outing herself and voicing her memories the first time wasn’t as impactful as it could have been if she just waited and had the Group Therapy be the first time readers got the full story. ***And third being the sex. There was a lot of it, and it was beautiful the way Ollie took care of Mia, but after a while I didn’t really need to see how every sex scene played out. Fading a few to black would have helped keep me interested in the more important scenes. But other than that, I’m so impressed with this being a debut novel. It’s good. Really really good!! It has an abrupt ending, but I knew that going in.
Nicole made me fall in love with her words from the very beginning. After reading the prologue, I knew I had to read this story. Every chapter started with a poem and I loved it! Ollie and Mia’s story was an emotional read. It was dark, crazy and complicated. Mental problems aren’t an easy topic. Especially in the young adult world. Nicole did well. If it’s her debut book I’m afraid she will destroy my heart in the next one.
This book grabs you and doesn’t let go. Ollie and Mia each have mental issues in relation to traumatic childhoods. They are at a “last resort” type facility that functions in part as an university but with a lot of restrictions and therapy. Jake and Zeke are my favorite secondary characters. Would like to read their stories. Story is well paced and does end wide open for next book. There are some triggers in the book but they are handled well and not super detailed. Easily skipped over if you need to and still get the point. The rest of the story is too good to miss.
THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL!!! Love, lust, sex, romance, heartbreak, growth, great character development, great plot, originality, ability to relate to the characters, plot twists, taboo, danger, angst ….I seriously could go on. I could not put this book down. It was so different from what I’ve read before. Initially you think Mia (our heroine) and Ollie (our hero)meet because they are troubled or “bad” kids who need to be set straight, however, you are taken on a journey with these characters where you learn about the psychological issues that make up their beings and eventually draw them together. Nicole Fiorina did such a good job making you feel what each character was feeling and presenting them in such a way that you could relate to each emotion. Your impressions of them will constantly change. It is an emotional roller coaster that I did not want to get off. It does leave as a cliff hanger but this book is so worth the drop off! I can’t wait for the next ride.
Nicole Fiorina’s debut book is flawless…she writes with such heart, such intense emotion that it made looking away almost impossible…absolutely breathtaking!
The Prologue is rather mysterious, giving us Mia’s thoughts after an obviously devastating event, but that’s all it gives us, leaving the reader wondering what happened and what led up to this point. The questions don’t stop there. Intrigued, this unique story captivated me completely.
Mia is a very troubled young woman who is sent away to Dolor University, which is a reformatory college, much like a prison. She meets an eccentric group of friends, including Ollie. Mia doesn’t feel anything with anyone, while Ollie feels everything. He affects her differently, which not only confuses her but wreaks havoc with her already volatile mental state. My heart had trouble handling the events in this book, but at the same time, I was swept up in the beautiful connection between Ollie and Mia.
I can’t remember the last time I highlighted so many quotes in a book, but I needed to in this one because they’re definitely things I want to remember. This will be one of those books that I can’t stop think about. Mia and Ollie’s story consumed me, and I’ll be waiting impatiently to read more…Book 2 can’t land on my kindle fast enough!
Opposites attract right? That’s science. What happens when a girl with a past so traumatic and painful to the point she doesn’t feel anything meets a boy with an equal heavy sad past that left him feeling too much? A great love story, that’s what happens. This book is dark, painful and beautiful, but it’s so much more than just a love story, it touches some heavy subjects that are real and raw.
Mia is sent to an abroad reformatory/collage by her father and her stepmother after some troubled she’s caused during her teenage years. She believes she’s a sociopath and that she’s not capable of feeling any emotion. In this place she meets Ollie, he’s a boy with such a beautiful soul, but he was diagnosed with a disorder exactly opposite to Mia’s, he feels too much. The chemistry and the connection between them is captivating, the way Ollie helped Mia heal from her dark past and see her for what she really was, the way he knocked all of her walls down and the way he loved her was magical, he was also the light in everyone’s life. Sadly something bad happens in the end that makes us see another side of Ollie, something that is beyond he’s control.
This is Nicole Fiorina debut novel and I’m so glad she asked me to read her book, her writing style is beyond amazing, I connected with these characters in a level that I could feel their pain, and sometimes I just wanted to hug them and protect them from everything bad. I really liked this book and cannot wait for the second part, I already feel it’s going to be darker and more emotional. To anyone reading this, please read this book because it’s beyond amazing.
It took me some time to read through this book, to be honest. It was super intense, major angst, and a lot of sex. I liked how the main characters had a great connection, but I guess for me, Mia was a bit scary. The way she just shut off her emotions made her kind of a sociopath. This book will will take you through all the emotions. It was also a little difficult to read, with so many intense emotions and when the relationship turned to being only sexual, it was just a bit much for me. Over all it was an okay read
5 STARS
Stay With Me is an emotionally charged book that covers sensitive topics. I was so captivated by the story that it pulled me in and made me feel so much for all the characters. I felt the need to relate and just try to understand the reasons behind each characters stories.
I highly suggest reading this book, it was an EPIC read! What a great start to what I can say will be an amazing series! I can’t wait for more of Mia and Ollie! Stay With Me by Nicole Fiorina will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
