In Robert A. Heinlein’s controversial Hugo Award-winning bestseller, a recruit of the future goes through the toughest boot camp in the Universe—and into battle against mankind’s most alarming enemy…Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have … could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids.
Because everyone in the Mobile Infantry fights. And if the training doesn’t kill you, the Bugs are more than ready to finish the job…

Great mix of comic book action, philosophical wisdom, and realistic military portrayal. One of the best thinking books ever.
One of the great SciFi classics. Not to be missed.
A must read
This is one of the books that Hollywood did not do justice to. Starship Troopers is a classic
One of my favorites. Read it first in 1959!
Thought provoking.
Heinlein action and some character development
More about the military training regime than a pure storyline. Side rhetoric about the obligations of citizenship are relevant but based on a warped view of society.
thoughtful
Been a favorite since I was a youngster. Boy to man story. Helped me understand leadership during my 20 years of military service.
One of Heinlein’s best, far better than the movie, set a very high standard for military sci-fi.
Too much of author’s philosophy and too little story.
I have always been a Robert A. Heinlein fan. His books will be read for generations to come…..
I read this book decades ago. It’s one of those that hooked me on science fiction. Heinlein is one of my favorite authors,
Read this books several times since high school .one of those you can read over and over.
An engaging discussion of free will and duty in a great story.
The military of the future will leave no one behind. Civic virtue explained and an example we should follow today when electing leaders.
somewhat different from movie.
This book is all about war. Why we fight and tries to explain why. It has ideas about a future that is very appealing.
One of the rare cases where I liked the movie better. The book was also good and the two are so different as to almost defy comparison.
