SPACE IS VAST AND UNTAMED, AND IT HOLDS MANY SECRETS.Now two individuals from opposite ends of settled space are on a collision course with the darkest of those secrets, even as the world threatens to explode around them. The year is 2322. Humanity has expanded into the stars, inhabiting over 100 worlds across a third of the galaxy. Though thriving as never before, they have discovered neither … have discovered neither alien life nor the key to utopia. Earth struggles to retain authority over far-flung planets and free-wheeling corporations while an uneasy armistice with a breakaway federation hangs by a thread as the former rebels rise in wealth and power.
Alexis Solovy is Earth Alliance royalty, her father a fallen war hero and her mother an influential military leader. But she seeks only the freedom of space and has made a fortune by reading the patterns in the chaos to discover the hidden wonders of the stars.
Nothing about her latest objective suggests the secret it conceals will turn her life— not to mention the entire galaxy—upside down. But a chance encounter with a mysterious spy leads to a discovery which will thrust Alex into the middle of a galactic power struggle and a sinister conspiracy, whether she likes it or not.

Book one of a trilogy is a slow start as the many pieces of a puzzle acquire lift off, but once everything is in place the story is all you can ask – romance with ex-lovers and new, science, politics, alien invasion, human war, battle scenes in space and on the ground, assassinations and assassins, crime and corruption, and complicated family relationships. Looking forward to reading book number two.
This was a well written, engaging story. With Strong, interesting characters. Despite the fact i’ve Seen the plot before I still want to read the next book in the series
loved reading it, hope to see more soon.
A well built world with an interesting take on the “Dragon Genre”. Keeps moving, each chapter is denoted by one of the characters. And, the numerous characters are developed in a manner that allows you to quickly identify with them.
Enjoyed the characters and the realism of the technical explanations.
Did not want to put it down.
Read this book and immediately purchased and read all the others in the series. Could not put them down.
Very difficult to stop.
I liked the combination of Advanced Tech/basic human motivational elements and emotional needs and the interplay of government BS/”politics” with the need to get the most important things taken care of. Anyone that has ever been in real combat see’s that. Enjoyable read-(so far- not finished). E.
I quite thoroughly enjoyed this book, as well as the second and third books in the series. Beware! If you are a fan of good science fiction, you may find these to be addictive!
This author writes well. I enjoy her books.
Being a fan of sci-fi I really enjoyed this book as it was set in the future, had aliens, a female lead, intrigue and more! I’m looking forward to reading Vertigo, Book 2!
Interesting science fiction series. Fun entertainment.
Good and different
The problem with over capable characters is there’s no real friction. The romance and the action in this book were cleverly imagined but it just didn’t grab my interest. Too slick or something I can’t put my finger on. Too sweeping too fast might be part of it. Never introduce more than 2 characters every few chapters?
Great read! I read this book and the other two books in the trilogy in 4 days; just couldn’t put them down. This was the best book in the trilogy. Great plot and characters! My only complaint was a couple characters were needlessly politically correct.
Really enjoyed this series. fun reading with a plot and story
Loved it so much I churned through the next 5 books in no time. It is a great new space opera.
Entertaining science fiction wrapped up with political intrigue, civil war and alien invasion. Being part of a series it leaves on hanging at the end without a resolution to the immediate problem introduced at the beginning.
Interesting adventure read and the series is engaging, I have read most. Characters are pretty well developed but much time seems spent on “romantic” interludes adding virtually nothing to the story line and almost seem like filler.
