I love Neil Gaiman. The first book of his that I read was “Neverwhere” and I was hooked. Stardust doesn’t disappoint. He is great t world building and I love his way with words. Since the ha been made into a move, you probably know too much about it at this point, but this author is well worth reading. You get a different feeling from the …
Neil Gaiman
It’s fun to read a fairy tale that was written for adults. This is the first Gaiman I’ve ever read, but I did enjoy it. I liked the lilting, almost poetic narrative and how the story weaves together. I listened to it, with the author reading, which is always my favorite way to listen to an audio book.
Admittedly, I saw the movie years before …
Loved it. Want Tristan to succeed. so many twists and turns. really like some characters and hate others. The bad guys are funny and bad. The witches are truly bad.
Prefer the movie, but still good
I have struggled with Gaiman’s books in the past more than I liked, I was very happy to find that Stardust was an exception. This was a delightful story, weird, magical and it made no sense half the time and all these made for an enjoyable experience. The journey through Fae was one I’ll remember and it did remind me how we can live and experience …
So far, the lone swing-and-a-miss for me in Gaiman’s literary discography. Fortunately, relatively brief and easy to get through.
Good fun story. Very imaginative.
This book is one of my top ten favorite books of all time.
Loved this book and loved the movie even more.
Probably one of my favorites!! And the movie was pretty good, too.
You will never, ever read a more moving, more original modern spin on the classic folkloric tropes of the fairy-tale even if you live to be four hundred and fifty years old. Don’t miss it.
Read it thinking it would be better than the movie. It wasn’t. You want a good story – watch the movie
I’ve read pretty much everything Neil Gaiman has written (as far as I know), and this remains my all-time favorite, even more so than American Gods. Stardust is a rich, engrossing fairy tale for grownups with a satisfying ending. Reading this book more than once is like treating yourself to a favorite meal with your best friends.
The movie was better.
Also one of my favourite films 🙂
Tbh, I watched the movie many years ago. I really enjoyed the movie that I decided to read book. It was worth it. Some similarities but as usual book was better! A really great read and a good flick.
Neil Gaiman- with every book I read from him, I just love and honestly can’t get enough!
This book was litterally passed around the house. My father read it then gave to me and then I have it to my Mom! I think I liked it mostly because I love books with magic and romance and action and this book gives you all three.
I read this book because I really loved the movie (based on this story) and watched it several times.
In some details, I missed the movie, but many times I liked how the original book was written.
This is a real fantasy, full of weird places, creatures and subjects. The fairy tale elements were found in the book: evil witch, helping hands or …
If you have seen the movie, you will still enjoy the book. They are similar but not the same. The character’s relationships are different in enough ways you see them as separate from the Hollywood versions & the plot has enough additional points & slight changes that the story doesn’t feel feel like you already know everything. .
