Lights. Camera. Inaction. Ivy Wilde, the laziest witch in the West, is still entangled with the Hallowed Order of Magical Enlightenment. That’s not a bad thing, however, because it gives her plenty of excuses to spend more time with sapphire eyed Raphael Winter, her supposed nemesis. And when he comes knocking because he needs her to spy on the latest series of Enchantment, she jumps at the … jumps at the chance. Hanging around a film set can’t be hard … or dangerous … right?

Star Witch is book two in The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Magic by Helen Harper.
OMG this was another AMAZING and FUN novel in The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Magic. I had a blast reading this novel.
The murder mystery was unique. As to who did it well I didn’t guess correctly neither did the characters. It’s great how the author keeps it hidden until the very end. I love being surprised on who did it.
The romance angel was subtle and weaved into the story nicely. I liked that the romance was secondary to the story. We see Winter and Ivy growing closer together, but with the ending we are left wondering a few things. That ending was a shocker!
The epilogue was all in Winter’s POV and I really enjoyed that. I also liked how the author had Brutus, Ivy’s familiar and talking cat, say more then the two words we’ve been getting in this novel.
Star Witch was such a fun read. I couldn’t put it down. I really like this series and it’s fun characters.
Rated: 4 Stars
I liked the first book in the series “Slouch Witch” a bit better than this one, but this is still a very good story. Ivy is just as funny (and lazy) as ever, but is mooning a bit over the witch from the Hallowed Order of Magical Enlightenment, Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter, who she was forced to work with in the first book. When Winter and the head of the Order come calling to ask for help, she jumps at the chance. Mostly because they need a ‘non-Order’ witch to infiltrate the set of a popular reality show “Enchantment” (which Ivy loves) and partly because it gives her a chance to see Winter again. This book is still fairly clean as far as swearing, but is a bit more gruesome (not my thing). But the mystery keeps you guessing, the characters are good, and I like the characters and writing style well enough that I still rate the book very highly in spite of a bit of gore.
Star Witch by Helen Harper a magical five-star read. This is the second book in The Lazy Girl’s guide to magic, and Ivy Wilde is one hell of a Lazy Witch. (In the best way possible) I am a huge Helen Harper fan and have waited for a couple of books in the series to come out so I can read them together so I don’t end up doing what I did with the previous series (The Highland Magic series) where I may or may not depending if my boss see’s this have called in sick to read the latest book.
Ivy Wild just gets better the more we read of her, she has a level of funny not many people can pull off. I loved the reality TV aspect it brought a thoroughly modern take to the whole thing.
I loved this series and can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next book, spirt witch to see what Ivy gets up to next and also find out what will happen with her and Winter? Will they get what they deserve? Or will the magic be too much?
Star Witch
The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Magic, Book 2
By: Helen Harper
Narrated by: Tanya Eby
OH MY GOD! This series is so funny! I love it! A funny, slightly overweight, slightly lazy witch, but smart, powerful, witch with a gorgeous witch that likes things orderly. She has a cat that can talk, boy, can he! She spelled him so he can talk with her and the cat is my favorite character…lol. Although Brutus the cat doesn’t have much of a role in this book, he does in the other books. In this book, there is plenty of fun things going on. I giggled the whole way through!
The narrator is half the fun. She make the characters really pop! I don’t think it would be as fun if I read the books. She adds her own funny way about her to the characters and I can’t help myself but giggle and even give a snort here and there! Super fun!
Got straight into this after finishing the first in the series. Easily enjoyed this as much as the first, which isn’t an easy task. Love the series.
Helen Harper is an automatic buy for me. I enjoyed this series and especially this book. I liked the TV show in the mix. This is a fun paranormal series with great characters some mystery and romance.
Ivy is back with more crazy antics in the second story of the Lazy Girl’s Guide to Magic series. This time her and Winter are off to the highlands of Scotland. Would you like to visit Scotland with its beautiful scenery and gorgeous mountains views? What if it included working on a magical game show and trying to stop a man eating creature or two, would you still want to go? Me either but, leave it to our beloved Ivy to toss it all out the window and sign up just so she can be near Winter and have the chance to visit the set of her favorite reality show, Enchantment. While I love this addition to the series I seriously want to scream right now. That ending is killing me. How am I supposed to be patient enough to wait until the next book comes out to know what happens next. I hardly have enough patience to wait for food at a drive through window but here I have to wait a whole month before I get to find out what happens next. I need to know what happened to Ivy and Winter next. This is reminding me of the torment I felt waiting to find out if Integrity and Byron would ever get together in Helen Harper’s Highland Magic series. However, even with the crazy and torturous cliff hangers that this series has I still love this it and I can not wait for the next book. 5* for Star Witch!
Love this series! A must read! Will not disappoint.
