There are books, and then there are books. You know…the ones you read over and over. The Star King is that special. It has earned the “I must have this in print for my bookshelf” honor. Rom and Jas are magical together and I love revisiting them whenever I can.
I read this from Susan’s boxed set and can not wait to start the next book. The pacing on this book was great. The characters were outstanding. The storyline was believable (within Sci/Fi). It was a fast read, due to keeping the reader engrossed. Finally, in my opinion, like great writers such as Nora Roberts, the natural sex scenes were timely and well handled without being overdone and gratuitous,

Romlijhiam “Rom” B’kah, of the Vash Nadah, member of on the 8 ruling families of the galaxy, and to be the next leader. Jasmine “Jas” Hamilton, of Earth, is a form lieutenant in the Air Force. A fighter pilot who was shot down by friendly fire. A divorced mother of college age twins. She is a well respected painter. When Rom sees Jas he sees the angel that saved his life then left him. He wants to know why, meeting her destroyed him. She seems to have no recollection of him. He agrees to take her to a space station were she can explore the galaxy. Jas is drawn to Rom, but she doesn’t know why. Her bad marriage makes her shy away from anything but business.
Rom and Jas slowly get to know each other. There are some cultural misunderstandings. Rom sees himself as a failure. Jas sees herself as undesirable. They can’t fight their attraction. They both have the crew’s support. The past has come back to haunt Rom and Jas becomes a target. When she is life threatened. He makes the decision to go to the Vash Nadah for help. His best friend is King of his world and he is husband to his beloved little sister. The war he waged 20 year ago that forced him into exile, has come to him. To save the galaxy he will have have to lead a mission back to that desert world and his chances of returning home are slim.
A fast pace and a little steamy alien romance. Loved Rom and Jas.
