Oh be still my heart!! Standstill will definitely bring out all the feels. From laughing to crying to yelling to heart break to everything in between. I was so sad for them that they had lost not only the best friend but their better half. That hit home with me as my husband and I had lost one of our good friends. But anyway back to the book. I was kind of shitty mad at Ash and Garrett for the way they treated each other even though everyone knew that they were in love with each other. I’m just so happy that they finally came to terms with everything and finally gave in to what they were feeling. This has to be one of the best stand alone books over ever read!! I really truly loved this book.
I really enjoyed this book the story is real and raw and heartbreaking. Friends since childhood Ash and Garett experience a loss that shatters them, unsure how to overcome the tragedy they are at a Standstill. Ash and Garett are great characters you can feel the heart and passion behind them through the book. Don’t get me wrong there were parts when I wanted to grab them both and shake some sense into them but it was part of their healing process. The storyline was very well written and the characters were relatable. As with all of Nicole’s books I highly recommend Standstill you won’t be disappointed.
HOLY CRAP! I absolutely loved this Standalone by Nicole ( who knew she could even write a standalone) This book is a friends to lovers, heartbreaking, angsty read, The main characters went through a tragic event at a young age and they have never truly recovered. This book sucked me in from the first page and I just couldn’t put it down I had it finished in a matter of hours. If you ever wanted to read this author I highly recommend reading Standstill and falling in love with Garret and Ashlyn
Standstill was a great story. The plot was very well written, the story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. The story will pull your heart strings many times and you will need tissues, it’s a strong emotional story, the characters were strong. Nicole Dykes did a wonderful job on it.
Ashlyn and Garrett have been through a lot. They were good for each other, healed and completed each other. Their connection was strong and their chemistry was sexy. They were great together. But it far from easy though, it was hard.
I enjoyed this story, it was great. I’d suggest reading.

This was such a great read and totally unexpected lol. I loved that this book had so much going for it with the drama, the past and current reflections on everything. All around this is a fantastic story that will pull at your heart strings.
Wow. This story is amazing. I was so intrigued that I devoured it in one evening. Nicole Dykes definitely did not disappoint.
I was so excited for this release that I read it in one sitting!! Even with all the build up and anticipation I was still blown away by this tale.
Ashlyn and Garrett faced tragedy at such a critical time in their life and neither truly knew how to move on. Both characters were so relatable in how they were (not) coping and almost faking their way through life until one day they realize living life at a standstill is not really living life at all.
This book was beautifully written and definitely gave me all the feels!!
Pardon me while I sob my way through this review. This book is simply heartbreakingly beautiful. The amount of feeling that Nicole Dykes has poured into the story is evident by the way each and every chapter oozes emotions.
Garrett and Ashlyn’s story is one of heartbreak and healing. It’s about the devastating impact loss can cause and how love and friendship can never fully erase the scars, but they can help to heal.
Emotional, painful, sometimes hilarious, but always beautiful Standstill is definitely not to be missed. Just have plenty of tissues on hand, probably some alcohol, and maybe even a stress sausage. Five beautiful and emotional stars.
I absolutely loved this book! Nicole knows how to make you want to throttle someone for being absolutely dense. I wanted to throat punch a few people through out the book and there were times I wanted to say freaking finally. You definitely want to read this you won’t be sorry

Once again Nicole Dykes has out done herself with this standalone novel. The characters in this book Garrett and Ashlyn make you want to laugh, cry, scream, and jump for joy. There is so much emotions between these two that it is hard not to feel every feeling that is written as if it is personally happening to you.
Garrett and Ashlyn have been friends for years, all through high school. They were ready to move and do great things with their lives, until a tragic even changes everything they thought they knew.
Garrett and Ashlyn must learn to live again, or they will always be Standing Still.

I absolutely LOVED Garrett and Ashlyn. They were truly each other’s other half. Even though these two totally frustrated me at times, I couldn’t get enough. Every time I thought they were getting their crap together BAM they would be a HOT MESS all over again.
I loved Garrett and finding out his truths solidified that Ashlyn is his true HEA. The love is in the words and Ms. Dykes is sure to deliver all the feels.
Think love triangle but not in the usual way. This isn’t just a romance book. It’s a human interest story. It captured my mind, heart and soul. Another aspect to this book is that it could definitely be real. I don’t do spoilers because I don’t think its fair to the author( but how I want to right now). The situation that is occurring could happen within any couple, group, or individuals. Very often we lie to ourselves for so many reasons; self preservation, protection, guilt, betrayal, because we think we’re doing the right thing, and ultimately it comes down to we don’t want to face the truth. If we do we might not like what we see or we’re afraid to take the chance. So we limit ourselves and settle. Dealing with certain aspects may make us feel bad about ourselves. No one said life is easy. This book is proof of that. However, that being said, there is always hope. With all the drama this book brings hope.

I may sound like Im hesitant to like this book but you would be definitely wrong. I loved this book. It was true, honest and hits right between the eyes. The funny thing about this whole story is it’s all about love in all its forms even if it’s distorted. It really makes you think. Don’t worry there’s plenty of heat to satisfy. To the author I say you knocked it out of the park with this book. To you I say read this book you deserve it. It may change the way you see things!
Sometimes you come across a story that makes you ache. I’m talking about the kind of ache that’s deep in your bones. Where you feel the story and connect with the characters in such a way that you for split moments forget what’s going on in your own life.
You get so wrapped up in the lives of the people on the pages that you’re heart breaks when theirs break or you end up with a huge smile and giggling even when you’re in public because something the author wrote touched you in just the right way.
This book was all that for me. I’d give it a million stars if I could. This author says she doesn’t write standalones…I’d beg to differ. She has hit a homerun with this beauty!
This story is full of angst, missed connections, chemistry and longing. I loved this story. Friends who both want more but are too scared by their shared history to move on. Beautiful and painful. My favorite type of book.
As much as I love Nicole’s other books, it was nice to see a true standalone from her. This one definitely shows the level of maturity of her writing. She brought a beautiful story of two individuals hurting and just standing still in life. Garrett and Ashlynn were just going thru the motions. They enjoyed living together but needed more in life. These two are seriously stubborn and hard headed. They have been friends forever but never acted on anything out of respect of their friend. Now that time has passed, they especially Ashlynn, is afraid to admit her feelings to Garrett. She doesn’t want to step over the line and open her heart. With the help of their friends, they realize that their friend would have loved them together. Getting to see this takes time for them. This was heartbreaking at times but truly worth it in the end. I was sucked in and up way late reading this. This book will draw you and not let you go until the end. Job well done Nicole! I loved Garrett and Ashlynn!!
This book made me feel so much when reading it. I laughed alittle, cried even more and feel in love with these characters so HARD!! Ashlyn and Garrett having a difficult story but I loved every minute of getting to know these two characters and seeing where things go. Another amazing book by Nicole Dykes!!! Can’t wait for the next book to come out by her!!
Aaaaaw! So sweet. The cover expresses the feel of the book completely, along with the characters. I loved the story, it pulled at my heartstrings, making me read several chapters with a lump in my throat. Garret and Ashlyn’s story reflects the battles lots of people face every day, allowing fear to rule their lives and hold them back. True love however always finds a way. This couple loved hard, fought hard and experiences loss like no other. I may even have fallen in love with a side character that took me by surprise <3
Nicole has done it again with Standstill….and holy crap she actually wrote a standalone!!! I equal parts loved Ashlyn and Garrett and wanted to slap them both silly. They can’t seem to get their shit together because they are living in the past and are stuck, I felt so bad for them while being angry with them both because I wanted them to be happy…together. You’ll have to read Standstill to find out if they find they’re way to each other, or move on…I am saying a HELL YES to recommending this book, Nicole thank you so much for writing this book, I loved it and can’t wait to see what road you take us down next!!

Garrett and Ashlyn took me on an incredible journey. It was sad, frustrating and felt really real. It felt like real life, and I’m so incredibly happy that they found their way to love.
