Lily is back alive (kinda) as a vampire and she’s trying really hard to adjust. She has Bryce by her side and he is just wonderful. She’s a bit miffed that the girl, Emily, that killed her got off without any trouble and is now talking to Lilly as if they’re friends. WTF?? Emily is not finished with her trouble. Lily gets word that Dimitri is in danger, but will she tell them in time? Can Bryce save her from Emily a second time? I really like Lily and she deserves a good man like Bryce. Can’t wait to see where this goes. I requested a free advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Laura Greenwood adds intrigue and undercover work for Stakes Are Raised, the second book in the “Stakes Trilogy”. One of the great trends of Greenwood’s work is that she creates heroines who do not count on a male to save the day. Lily sees a situation which could threaten the den, comes up with a solution or a way to get more information, and acts on it. Mind you, she bites off more than she can chew and doesn’t always let the higher ups know what she is doing (laugh).
Greenwood utilizes this second book to showcase Lily’s new skills and what she is willing to do to do the “right” thing. We see more of Lily’s character in this book and Greenwood makes her a heroine to root for.
Greenwood also lays that groundwork for the finale. It looks like it is going to be an exciting battle. I cannot wait.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

First let me state that I received an advanced reader copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This series is getting better and better. Lily is taking well to vampirism. This time she’s helping to stop a plot against Dimitri. Her and Bryce’s relationship is getting stronger. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
This is book two of the Grimalkin Academy: Stakes series and sees Lily attending the academy full of vampires with her bodyguard Bryce to look out for her. Only problem is that a lot of the other student don’t like her because of her former life as a vampire hunter! She had been taken as a young child and trained to kill vampires by a vampire hunting guild, until she was taken prisoner by a vampire den. They don’t want to turn her and her only choice was to attend the academy, a place full of the type of people she used to hunt down and kill. Lily hopes to live the rest of her now long life, as Bryce had to turn her when another student nearly killed her in the first book, making up for all the vampires she killed in her past.
The visions that Lily used to have, seem to have stopped since she was turned, but that doesn’t last for long. She may have a seer somewhere in her ancestry or could it be some kind of latent magic? She has a dream about Ravi and knows that he will try to escape his jail and come after her to kill her. But her more immediate problems are with the girl who tried to kill her at the academy, who has been left in classes with her and seems to not have been punished at all. It all boils down to who you know and how important they are, so it seems. Lily will need to keep her ears and eyes open to try and catch what else Emma and Carlton may be plotting against Dimitri, the head of the vampire den and Ashryn his ex-hunter wife. It seems there is a group of other vampires at the academy that also agree with Emma, that humans get too much of a precedence over vampires in all aspects of life. This group wants to stop that!
There are links to Mayor Reese and the City of Blood, from other books by this author which people may know a bit about if they have read some of their other books. This group has a contact there and are happy to hear of the way humans are treated in the city and definitely want that to happen worldwide. Seeing it as the rightful manner in which to make use of, treat and control humans. Their group wants to bring this about as soon as possible and Lily is going to do anything she can to stop them in their tracks. They are as bad as the City of Blood, which Bryce managed to escape from. Lily has lots going on now, as well as a romance with her former bodyguard, but most worryingly, the re-emergence of her ex-hunting partner Ravi, who she knows will manage to escape and come for her and Ashryn. He is a fanatical hunter and has a diehard hatred of vampires and all other types of supernaturals. This book is full of Lily and Bryce and her challenges in trying to settle into life as a vampire and the problems she has to overcome, but also the past that is coming for her. The next book in the series will concentrate on dangers she will face as a determined vampire hunter comes for her and I can’t wait to read it. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Lily wants justice for being murdered but her killer walks free. This an amazing tale of a new vampire’s resurrection. The world building is definitely memorable. The plot is complex and well written. The characters are real and likeable. This is the series to read for all you vamp lovers out there. What a wonderful read.

Now Lily and Bryce are officially together. Lily is also adjusting to being a vampire but is upset that Emma, who changed her isn’t going to be punished at all. How can Lily extract payback from Emma? I enjoyed this exciting, suspenseful romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The former vampire hunters become the hunted, first as targets of other vampires and then from other hunters
Ashryn and Lily face a bevy of struggles within the vampire community, within themselves and in continuing their fight for what they believe to be right
Steamy and action packed drama adventure and romance

This is a great continuation of Lily’s time at Grimalkin Academy. She’s a vampire now, and that is going to take some getting used to. On the very bright side, she and Bryce are now official. I really enjoy Lily’s attitude, her feistiness, and her snark. I can’t wait for book 3.

Stakes Are Raised is book two of the Grimalkin Academy: Stakes series and picks up where book one left off. Lily and Bruce are together and are still getting used to Lily’s new life. There is a lot going on in this action packed story filled with danger, suspense, intrigue, romance and unexpected twists. As always I love some of the characters and some of the characters not so much. The writing is great and I can’t wait to read the next book.
It was fabulous catching up with Lily and Bryce again and I loved how their relationship has grown and evolved. Lily is adjusting well to being a vampire but is angry that the person who took her human life has not been punished. But she is bound and determined to infiltrate the group that is trying to take down the den. This is a fantastic follow-on to book 1 and following Lily (and Bryce) as she manages to get herself into trouble and back out again was a thrill ride and a half.

Lily (FMC) is finding out that life is more tricky being a Vampire in this book than she was as a hunter. The only differences being she has more freedom at the academy. Only she finds out not only will her attacker Emma wont face any consequences for her actions but she has to see her at the school all the time. Except Lily has a few plans up her sleeve. Loved that. I also loved the relationship with her and Bryce. A good read
I love Laura Greenwood’s books. They are full of delightfully developed and detailed characters, have wonderful story worlds and are overall very well written stories. I always grab her new books when they come out and am never disappointed! This book is no exception! I highly recommend it!

Can she stop what she in her visions from happening? Now that Lily has been turned she still has to go to Grimalkin Academy and the students still don’t like her. And the person who killed her, forcing Bryce to make her a vampire, Emma all of a sudden thinks Lily is her friend. But after Lily heard Emma and another student plotting to take down Dimtri the Vampire Leader, maybe she can infiltrate their group and get them arrested. And what about her visions of Ravi coming for her and all of the other ex-hunters? Her visions always come true but hopefully they can get ahead of him escaping and stop it. Or can they? Lily is having to adjust to being a vampire and she is now officially one half of a couple with Bryce but there are still many issues and questions that remain unanswered! I am looking forward to reading more about Lily, her continuing growth and development, and how all of the issues get resolved! She has become a strong, confident woman who craves justice against the person responsible for everything that has been done!! Will that ever happen?!
