I’ve been training for this moment for years, ever since I was dumped at the academy like a piece of trash. I’ve pulled myself up by my bootstraps and taken more beatings, both physical and magical, than any vampire ever should. Now I have my opportunity, my only way out of Westbrook Academy, and I’m not going to blow it. Getting picked by a brotherhood is no easy task, but my life has never been … never been easy.
She’s everything they never knew they wanted, but more than one overly ambitious student wants to win the final place in their brotherhood. It’s up to Cade, Raven, Barclay, Keiran, and Gideon to make sure they pick the best person for their team, after all, the brotherhoods are the only thing stopping the magic world and the human world from crashing into each other.
When things start to go sideways can the guys still trust that they will pick the best candidate for the position, or will it end up being a political game of cat and mouse, as powers out of their control manipulate the future?
STAINED EGOS is the first book in the SALSANG CHRONICLES, a paranormal “why choose” romance series featuring a kick-ass heroine and her part vampire lovers that will leave you breathless and begging for more.

INCREDIBLE!!!
OMG! Man, talk about one wild rollercoaster ride. A whirlwind of emotions and events that feed from the excitement and nerve racking tension that brings this bad boy roaring to life brilliantly. All twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches and bumps here and there pull you deeper into this raging storyline and hard hitting plot. Throw in all the drama, intrigue, uncertainty, fear, danger and suspense and you have one intense, page turning bombshell that grabs your attention and holds it from start to finish. The chemistry between the characters are intense, mind blowing and palpable. The characters are complex and so believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. You have no trouble picturing every scenario as it plays out perfectly. Helen definitely nailed this bad boy 100% on point with such realism it really pulls this treasure together flawlessly. Remarkable job Helen, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Helen Scott has created a complex but understandable and engrossing world in this book. In this book, there is an important difference between pureblood vampires and mixed blood vampires, the latter being called stained. As you might imagine from that moniker, they are looked upon with some disdain by the purebloods. Groups of young half-blooded males band together into brotherhoods of 5 males each, and a group is completed by a sixth person, a female princess of pure blood who has been groomed to be the lynchpin of the brotherhoods.
This book depicts how one brotherhood acquires their Sixth. It is told from the perspective of all five members of the brotherhood as well as from one of the young pureblooded women who may become their Sixth. The story is very complex, both in backstory and current plot line.
I almost stopped reading this book after the first page. I don’t consider myself averse to profanity, but I found the constant use of profane language to be offputting. Knowing that this book would have other narrators besides the first, I stuck with it in hopes that others wouldn’t swear as much. Most of them still did swear a fair amount, even the female, with only one who seemed to abstain. Aside from my complaint about the swearing, I also didn’t think that the six characters had unique enough individual voices; they sounded too much alike.
My other complaint is about issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. Commas are not used often enough (like between independent clauses in a single sentence) and are used too often when they shouldn’t.
While I found it offputting at first, I did actually find this to be a compelling read. The heroine is much put-upon by so many people who abuse and undervalue her. It was interesting to watch her connection grow with these strangers given her rather solitary existence.

What a unique enjoyable and entertaining read. The whole Academy and how everything work there was fascinating definitely had me captivated from beginning to end. Also plenty of action, intrigue, and of course steamy romance add in to mixed to sweeten the deal. My only issue was the cliffhanger I didn’t want it to end. So looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I received a free copy via Booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I this book we drove into the world of Puresangs, Full blooded vampires and Salsangs, dirt blooded of mixed blood vampires. We meet Marcella who is a Salsang and hated by the Puresang. But when four mysterious men enter the academy looking for their Sixth, they are immediately drawn to Marcella. There are forced at work that want to keep them apparent when there’s a will there is always a way.
This is a brilliant novel with well developed characters who come together in a cohesive world full of magic and intrigue. The plot flows along naturally and I particularly liked the dynamic between the boys, between the boys and Marcella, and between Marcella and her bullies. It made for a believable story within the confines of the world that Helen Scott created. I stayed up all night reading.

What an interesting and creative story so far. Marcella is in training to become a 6th in a brotherhood of 5 supernatural hybrids. As she fights to be chosen a relationship and bond forms between her and the brotherhood. But there are a lot of things and people out to make sure that she is never chosen. They must escape to save her and their bond. Seamless co-writing with great character and story development with great flow. I can’t wait for more!
What happens when 5 hunky guys have to find the sixth to complete their brotherhood when they show up at Westbrook.
This story has plenty of action with lots of intrigue, and enough steamy scenes to satisfy. The only downside – ends in a cliffhanger.
I will definately read the next and look up the rest of the books from this author.
I loved this book! The fights between Marcella and Lilly are just more proof of how she is stronger then Lilly. Especially when the men are pushing her to show more of her powers. All because they are being pulled to Marcella like a fish swims in water. I totally can’t wait for the 2nd book!!!
I was drawn in and not let down in this fast paced adventure of Marcella, Lilly, and the rest of the characters. Can I just say, I absolutely detest Lilly. The 5 guys in the brotherhood are all different characters with different powers looking for their 6th and will have to await to see who wins the challenge. I loved how Marcella was both meek and timid and then strong as well. Definitely a must read
