I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.
Stain is the second book in the Kings Harlot Series. I am loving these tough as nail MC ladies and the Alpha military men. They each complement each other so well. Stain is Meeka and Ash’s story.
Meeka is trying to make up for what happened in Grit. Trying to stay in good graces with her sister and prove she can be trusted. She has been best friends with Ash since they were kids and has been through so much together.
Ash is under cover trying to take down the human traffickers and needs his best friends help. Only problem is there is no way Meeka will submit to Asher for this undercover assignment or will she?
Oh man the chemistry between these two was amazing. They tried so hard to keep their relationship in the friend zone but after the first kiss they were done for. The story lines kept me turning the pages I had to know what was going to happen next. Then we get little hint of what has been going on with Angel and Jay since Grit. The twist had me shocked I never saw that coming. I so want to know more about these women and their men. I need to know what’s going to happen with Coby and Brogan and then is Dale ever gonna do the right thing. I am so falling in love with these characters but I cannot wait for Coby he is so quiet and holds everything in I need to know his story!
Charles Brian was a sick SOB. Meeka and Asher were made for each other, to start out as friends and become lovers. Poor Asher had lived in hell growing up with his stepfather, but with the help of meeka he was coming along. A long road for Asher. Book was very detailed and sad. This book is not for the weak.
Good grief!! This book had my heart in my mouth most of the way through but there was no way I was putting it down!!
Meeka and Asher are best friends and have been best friends for a long time. When they are needed for an undercover op it soon becomes apparent that there is so much more than friendship between them, and also that they are in danger!
This book had me on the edge of my seat and had me shedding tears, like ugly tears!
broken, battered and bruised doesn’t even begin to cover Asher Donavon.
Meeka Cline, smart, self aware, and with a heart only for one man.
Together these two try to take down the very thing that haunts both the King’s Harlots and Vice-One.
Asher battles the demons in his mind and Meeka battles those within the club.
I really want to love this series, I do. This is book 2, and so far I am not seeming much of the female MC in it. Not really. It seems to be more about Vice-One. I love the idea behind it all but all at once there is too much going on and the story line is off track.
I do give props to J.M. Walker for tackling the tough subject matter that they are battling in these stories.
Complex, sexy and raw. Those are the three words I thought throughout reading Stain. Meeka and Asher are so perfect together. From best friends to lovers, a familiar, sometimes overwrought, theme in other books, but done so well here. Their bond as friends just makes them even stronger as a couple because they know each other so well, and complement each other in all the necessary ways. She’s soft (but not in spirit) to his hard. She calms his tortured mind. He dominates her and brings out her submissive side. He cares for her and she in turn, cares for him in every possible way.
Vice-One and King’s Harlots mesh together in a well developed way. I love the world JM Walker has created by bringing these two teams together and cannot wait to read more about this world.
In the second instalment of JM Walkers The King’s Harlot Series, we are taken on Meeka and Ashers journey.
We briefly met both Meeka and Asher in Grit (Book 1), but in Stain, we get their story, their voice, and believe me when I say you are in for one hell of a ride.
Going undercover, both Asher and Meeka are trying their hardest to smash the syndicate that keeps taking women and selling them to the highest bidder. It’s a dark and dangerous world, but they both need this to end. There are too many women losing their lives, taken from their families. After saving Jays sister, it’s in their veins to save more.
But at what cost?
Who will come out alive?
What secrets will be revealed?
What will happen when the past and present collide?
Can Meeka trust Asher to keep her safe from the hands of evil?
Can Asher keep Meeka undamaged through it all?
Can Asher keeps his past at bay to do the job at hand?
Can they both as one help and save these women?
Can Asher and Meeka both survive the depths of hell?
Or is it too late?
Guys…..Stain, what can I say. I have sat here trying to articulate the best way I can and explain to you what Stain is about, but it’s hard for me to put it into words.
This novel completely broke me. It shattered my heart into a million pieces, my soul crushed.
It’s gut wrenching, raw, gritty and highly confronting. At times it’s as disturbing as hell, painful and cringe worthy. It’s dark, twisted and gruesome. Their heartbreaking story had me finding it hard to breathe.
But it was also heartwarming and breathtakingly beautiful with it’s hope, love and fight for survival that you could feel with every page turned.
Overall Stain was one of the best reads for me for 2016, so full of depth and detail that it has left me speechless.
Asher and Meeka, my heart will stay with you both always. Your story……Breathtaking.
To JM Walker…..Thank you for given us readers a read that I can only describe as perfection.
5 stars
Amazing Read! A friends to lovers story! ASHER will set your panties on fire Loved how domiant he is with Meeka! This book will have you feeling every single emotion possible! i definitely recommend this book! Reading book 1 Grit helps to understand alot of the different relationships in this book but it can be read as a stand alone as well. JM Walker you are amazing! I cannot wait for your next book in this series!
Stain is book 2 in the King’s Harlots series, if your not familiar this series will probably be a new twist for you with an all female MC and a group of Alpha Seals.
I’ll admit that the author is on my auto read list, that it really doesn’t matter what she writes, I’m going to read it. But when the idea for a female MC was introduced I knew I’d love the books.
While these books can be read on their own I recommend reading them in order, if not your missing out on some vital information.
Stain is Ash & Meeka’s story.
Ash is a tortured soul. There are things he can’t get over in his life but Meeka calms the inner beast. His best friend is the only one who knows what it takes to help him and he’s grateful for that.
Things are great between them until Ash is forced to bring Meeka in on a job she want’s no part of.
Even if it’s wrong he intends to guilt her into accepting.
Meeka isn’t the King’s Harlots favorite member. Things from the past have caused their fearless leader not to trust her and in turn everyone else is skeptical. She refuses to give up though, she will earn their trust back, get the sisterhood back on solid ground.
She’s struggling to get there and when her best friend Asher asks for her help on a job she can’t face the idea of getting involved in again. This is what caused all the problems with her MC to begin with.
But Ash knows what buttons to push, knows how to get her to agree. She feels horrible for turning him down and goes to him to accept.
This job is a bit different though. Meeka has to go in as Ash’s submissive.
This could be a problem considering he’s her best friend.
And the fact that she’s now looking at him in a completely different way.
When things heat up between best friends they really heat up, Ash and Meeka are explosive together!
Their working to shut down a sex ring but Asher has his own struggles that may be a bit too much, lucky for him Meeka is his calm and is there to get him through no matter what it takes.
It was great to catch up with Angel and Jay sporadically throughout this story, there are so many secondary characters worth a mention I can’t possibly go into detail on them all but Charles Brian. This guy would scare the devil himself, I don’t think there’s a drop of humanity in his body. He is the epitome of evil.
Stain is fairly fast paced, action packed and sexy as hell. It’s a great addition to the series that brought so much more than I was expecting.
Charles Brian. This guy is so far out there, I don’t think there’s a drop of humanity in him
J.M. Walker has a gift for delivering gritty drama with an intense romance. I was on the full on roller coaster with this one. Asher and Meeka are best friends but really, they need to be more than best friends. Their love is deep but both always hold back, afraid to ruin their friendship. When Asher pulls Meeka into his latest under cover case, situations force these friends into an intimate situation … finally! I loved how this romance blossomed. Asher truly feels like he isn’t good enough for Meeka but Meeka is one tough chick so he never stood a chance. There interactions are intense, frustrating and panty melting! Of course, behind the scenes is this case they are trying to crack. Yea, this gave me the chills more than once as they face off with men preying on woman – definitely gave me a greater appreciation for the human trafficking world. I love this cast of characters, their determination to do right in a crazy world.
I met Asher and Meeka in With Love At Christmas: An Anthology and my heart bled for Asher and his backstory. I wanted to know more about this couple and where their story would take them. I read Rude (book 4) first and then went back and read Grit (book 1). Reading out of order in no way ruined this series for me. Asher and Meeka are best friends- have been for a long time. Now, Asher needs Meeks’s help to bring down the organization that has threatened both the King’s Harlots and Vice One. This is a great friends-to-lovers book, with lots of twists and jaw-dropping moments. Asher is a broken man, one that you want to see succeed and be happy because he damn well deserves it! You root for this couple because you need them to be together! I love the interaction with the other King’s Harlot and Vice One members-drawing you in to the stories of Coby, Brogan, Dale and Max and making you want more of them all! I have most of the other books of this series on my Kindle (except the latest release I believe) so I will be reading them all because this series is simply addictive!! Thank you JM Walker for another great addition to this series!!! Loved it!
