This book is RATED-R FOR LANGUAGE by the publisher.Bush pilot Tom Stokes is about to face the worst day of his life. On a clear winter morning, he sets out to do some repairs on a remote hunt camp, leaving his five-year-old son and very pregnant wife snug in their beds.On the return trip, a squall forces him into an emergency landing and he winds up—quite literally—in the lap of petty criminal … the lap of petty criminal Dale Knight. Dale, now a fugitive from the law—and worse, from a merciless drug lord who just happens to be his brother—draws Tom into a web of mayhem and treachery that puts not only his life at risk, but the lives of his wife, son . . . and unborn child.
SQUALL is a fast-paced, darkly-comic tale of murder and gang-style retribution that grabs the reader on page one and just doesn’t let go.

Great read! Thrills all the way through!
A real page turner, short but entertaining easy ready that if you put the book down it will keep you thinking what’s going to happen next.
Exciting, suspenseful, and avoids casting the bad guys as flat characters. Good thing since there are more baddies than goodies. Also the women are strong and resourceful.
What a great read! fast paced and thrilling. Quite a short novel but very hard to put it down. My husband read it right after me and loved it too.
Fast-paced. Action-packed. Suspenseful. Tightly plotted. Authentic-sounding dialogue. Dark humor.
If all those ingredients appeal to you in a thriller, you’ll love Sean Costello’s Squall.
Searching for free public domain classics recently, I was browsing my favorite online book retailer when the mysterious algorithms thrust Squall in front of my face. I had already downloaded half a dozen free classics and the book cover caught my attention. A lone cabin in a remote wooded setting in the middle of a storm, a small plane flying overhead.
I noticed Costello’s book was also free. Although, I had never heard of him before, I quickly read a couple of positive reviews and thought I’d give him a chance.
I have to say, I wasn’t disappointed. This man knows how to string a sentence or two together. Character description and backstory are sparse; all the words are economically and artfully used to drive this narrative forward at a break-neck pace.
The characters and the plot are compelling and unique. A pregnant woman trying to guide her husband home in a small plane after he gets stuck in a nasty winter storm. A drug deal gone bad. Two people on the lamb, a cokehead and a heroin addict, with a suitcase full of cash and a satchel full of heroin. Ruthless assassins hunting for blood.
Squall serves up a compelling analysis of what lengths an otherwise mild-mannered man will go to when it comes to the safety of his wife, his unborn child, and young son. Although this is the first novel I’ve read by Costello, it certainly won’t be the last.
He’s a proficient writer and a great storyteller.
Brilliant book! Love the storyline, looking forward to reading more of this authors books!
I’ve read several Sean Costello books, and this one is my favorite so far. I especially liked the ending. Action-packed, hard to put down.
As a reader of a story, a reader can and does identify with WHO a character IS, iF the Author has done his/her job well, writing out who the character IS, as the Author furthers the story/plot, and in THIS case Sean Constello skillfully DID HIS JOB. This reader could easily identify with the very real and lifelike characters as well as the plot/story, and THAT is why I can easily and DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND Squall, by Sean Constello. It was through Mr. Costello’s seamless writing skills, that I “was” the pilot who got stranded with a bad guy in the middle of a storm, and “was” the mother giving birth during a crisis, with help from one of the perps, and I “was” the officials who stepped into the picture, and fo forth and so on. Well done Mr. Costello!!! Made for a thrilling read ride for me!
I really enjoyed “Squall” by Sean Costello. The characters were evenly balanced, well constructed, and the story waited for no one. As a writer with screenwriting background myself, it came as no surprise that Mr. Costello has written numerous screenplays in addition to his other books. The essence of a good screenplay focuses on storytelling as lean as possible while still remaining compelling. Every word advances the story forward. And Squall does just that. It keeps you turning the pages, and the end surprised me. Mr. Costello managed to write a taut story while avoiding most cliches. Very refreshing.
Predictable but well written.
Loved it! One of my most favorite books to read this year!
The book is a good read. It will keep you turning the pages.
Great book, couldn’t stop teading
I thought this book looked really good and was disappointed that the bad language was so prevalent. Do people really talk like that? I couldn’t read more than a few pages.
hate it hate sthis ap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I didn’t enjoy this book. All the while reading it and when I finished, I felt there should be more. Something was just missing for me.
good book
A good, quick read, but more like a screenplay than a book.
So so
Just couldn’t get into it. Too much foul language for nothing.
