In the small, coastal towns of the Florida Panhandle, there are no six degrees of separation; they’re lucky to stretch it to three. Everyone knows everybody, and the loss of any one person is felt by all. But what happens when a beloved law enforcement officer is shot down, and the shooter is a terrified young man, barely more than a child?Lt. Maggie Hamilton is devastated when a good friend and … Maggie Hamilton is devastated when a good friend and fellow officer is shot while trying to keep a bullied high-schooler from making a terrible mistake. Soon after, videos of the event become viral, fanning the flames.
Now both the young man and the bully who victimized him go missing. It suddenly becomes clear that the two boys disappeared together. Who is the aggressor now, and who is most at-risk? As the situation begins to unfold both online and in the real world, everyone is faced with the ramifications of bullying, and with the part that social media plays in making bad situations worse and turning private hells into public tragedies.
This is the ninth book in the bestselling Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense series, known for its rich coastal atmosphere, authentically-textured characters and dry humor.

Characters I would to see again
Great book. Keeps you interested.
An intriguing book with its core being a bully and his bullied victim that resulted in the shooting by accident of a loved police officer. By the end both the bully and the bullied recognize the irrationality each has, and the community sees the awful consequences of such behavior.
Great series
I may read another one in this series, honestly I wasn’t overly impressed. I’m not saying it’s a bad book
Love all her books, can’t wait for the next one. Well written, great characters, wonderful ambience of northwest Florida that not very many people see.
Predictable but good for “no brainier” read time.
Just didn’t enjoy it that much.
Good characters, and thought-provoking. I will read more of the series!
I really enjoy reading about these characters…….can’t wait to start the next one.
I have previously liked this author and these characters but am tired of these school shooting books.
The ending school speech was very good.
Good moving read.
this is a must read for us Dawn McKenna fans
It is hard to wait for the next book
Another good book in the series, however, the ending of this one did feel a bit sudden, and rushed, and there were several small editing issues. Overall a good book that moved the series along, although not with the intensity of the earlier books.
A timely theme made the book a worthwhile read although it certaifnly wasn’t the author’s best effort in the series.
