In the small, coastal towns of the Florida Panhandle, there are no six degrees of separation; they’re lucky to stretch it to three. Everyone knows everybody, and the loss of any one person is felt by all. But what happens when a beloved law enforcement officer is shot down, and the shooter is a terrified young man, barely more than a child?Lt. Maggie Hamilton is devastated when a good friend and … Maggie Hamilton is devastated when a good friend and fellow officer is shot while trying to keep a bullied high-schooler from making a terrible mistake. Soon after, videos of the event become viral, fanning the flames.
Now both the young man and the bully who victimized him go missing. It suddenly becomes clear that the two boys disappeared together. Who is the aggressor now, and who is most at-risk? As the situation begins to unfold both online and in the real world, everyone is faced with the ramifications of bullying, and with the part that social media plays in making bad situations worse and turning private hells into public tragedies.
This is the ninth book in the bestselling Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense series, known for its rich coastal atmosphere, authentically-textured characters and dry humor.

Another great book in a wonderful series.
Yet another good read!! Since buying my first tablet in 2012, I seldom purchase books. I rely on “free” downloads for my pleasure reading. That’s how I found the “Forgotten Coast” series!! But the first five just weren’t enough!! So I have actually purchased the 6th – 9th books in her series!! I enjoy the characters, the setting and the storylines!! I lived in Louisiana and Alabama for six years of my life and my favorite holiday escape was the Emerald Coast! She makes it all come back for me in dry old west Texas now!
Great series of books. Well written, believable, enjoyable characters. The relationships and quirkiness of both life and the people of this area is captured well. I highly recommend this book.
Love this series! It’s like family!
Excellent series. Read them all!
Although the situation was plausible, the author took it to a scary place. I loved this book, and will seek others in the series.
Well written!
Love every book in this series. Can’t wait for more.
this book was more than just entertaining, it was one of those books that made me think. Great plot, great ending.
This book is as good as the rest of the series, excellent.
This is one more excellent book by one of my favorite authors – Dawn Lee McKenna. It’s a new (for me) angle on police mystery books, dealing with school bullying and violence. An excellent read.
Dawn Lee has developed her main character Maggie Richmond to perfection. The setting of Appalachicola Is described in great detail. You want to visit every time you her books.
Makes you feel like a member of the community!
Love all of her books!
I have read most of this series. While, I appreciated the absence of graphic violence, the plots are becomming too similar and predictable.
Dawn Lee McKenna has a way with her stories that transport me to another place in time. Love it!
I live in the state of FL and love that I get to read about our beautiful state. Also, I have visited the area this series is based: The Forgotten Coast. It is so neat to read about places I’ve been and can revisit some of the same restaurants, streets, parks, etc. .through Ms. McKenna’s writings. I haven’t read the other series she’s written, but I’m sure they are as good as this one.
The story line here was about bullies and those who they inflict their sick minds on. A sad, but true, story that permeates schools, office places, and other venues in this country today. Not only in person, but it continues thru cyberspace. A truly disturbing fact.
Thank you for a great entertaining book that is clean suspense.
Dawn Lee McKenna does it again. Can’t wait for the next book.
It’s good to be back in Apalachicola with the usual suspects. Over the course of 9 books I’ve come to know the characters and the town. These stories are exciting without being violent or containing a lot of sex and cursing. I hope the series continues for a long time to come!
I really enjoy her books.
