He is a dangerous man. And his darkness runs deep… stranger.
David Manston, the disgraced Baron of Carreg, lives as a hermit in a clifftop cottage, his true identity unknown to everyone in the village – just as he prefers. His offer of mediation was to be a one-time act of kindness, but it does not stop Allie trying to pry into his past nor lessen his own attraction to the beautiful gentlewoman.
In the midst of strange happenings at the rundown mine, a figure emerges from Allie’s childhood – her notorious godmother, Lady Abigail, who possesses the means to lay bare David Manston’s darkest secret…
Will the truth bring Allie into his arms, or drive her away for good?

Alexandra Gedding and her twin brother are sadly watching the demise of the village that surrounds their family’s tin mine. The mine stopped producing so had to be closed. With no tin there’s no money or jobs.
David Manston gave up his previous living as Baron of Carreg and lives as more or less a hermit in a cottage in Cornwall using his art to earn money.
The coast of Cornwall can be a dangerous place when Napoleon is plotting an invasion and a traitor is on the loose.
This exciting adventure is full of intrigue and danger. Fabulous characters that will surprise you. It is part of a series, you could read it on it’s own but the series is best read in order.
Very exciting.
A game of cat and mouse is being out on the Cornish Coast in a worn our tin mine. Alexandra Gedding and her twin brother, Philip, that inherited his title from their uncle, are living a laid-back life at the estate and watching the village disband from the nonproductive mine. They have sold off all the beautiful estate furnishing and jewels to help the town people survive. Try as hard as they can, nothing seems to help until Philip’s friend, Julian comes up with an idea that could reopen the mine. During this time, Alexandra has become close to David Manston, a man that lives as a hermit in his cliffside home. Elizabeth has given us wonderful characters, a mystery and a notorious godmother to keep us turning the pages. This is a wonderful series, that I have enjoyed.
Another brilliantly written story in the series
This is another brilliantly written story in a series that continues to get better. The plot is unique, and is full of suspense, twists and turns. The characters are strong, and portrayed wonderfully, and overcome their obstacles brilliantly. This book will suit all those who love steamy historical romances that have plenty of suspense and intrigue.
Alexandra Gedding and Phillip her twin are saved following the closure of the family’s Cornish tin mine by their new neighbor David Manston. David is the disgraced Baron of Carreg, who lives as a hermit in a clifftop cottage where no one knowing true identity. Alexandra aka Allie has be fascinated with David, ever since he saved them from the wrath of the angry villagers when the family mine was closed down. A few years later Phillip bring home a friend Jullian and they discover there may be a way to save the mine after all.
Napoleon is plotting an invasion and a traitor is on the loose. The King’s Rogues are attempting to catch a traitor in their mist. Allie write to her scandalous godmother Lady Abigail and she bring the mysterious Kings spies to the Cornish coast to catch the traitor. I love this story with a great plot, the search is on to find the traitor, mystery, intrigue and romance all into one story. An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review.
