New York Times bestselling author Lorelei James returns for another wild ride in Wyoming with a new Blacktop Cowboys® novel. Years in the Army equipped Bailey Masterson for many things: target shooting, rappelling off cliffs, dodging grenades. She’s lived through horrors that still give her nightmares. But nothing in Bailey’s life-or-death training prepared her for caring for the tiny terror that … for the tiny terror that is five-year-old Olivia Hale. Or how to control her raging attraction to Olivia’s father, Streeter, the rugged, green-eyed cattle rancher who undermines her every move even when he stars in her dreams.
Streeter Hale has room for only two things in his life: his daughter and his job. He doesn’t date. He doesn’t get attached. Not anymore. So not only is Streeter stunned by Olivia’s improved behavior after just a few days with Bailey, he’s downright floored by his immediate attraction to the woman. But with secrets in her eyes and a body that doesn’t quit, Streeter begins to worry that Bailey Masterson might just be the one woman to heal his fractured family and broken heart.
One thing’s for sure–these two wrecked souls are spinning out of control as they desperately try not to fall in love…

Okay, I really need to get better at keeping up on my favorite authors. When I read book 9 in this series, Racked and Stacked, I lamented waiting so long to read that one. This is a direct quote from my review of that book…
“The next book in this series is out in a few months. Let’s hope I don’t let so much time slip away before I get my hands on it, I just adore this author and her characters.”
That was almost two years ago! And once again, Lorelei James sucked me into the world of Muddy Gap and I’m sitting here wondering why it took me so long to read this book.
There are so many things I love about this story. Bailey is so matter of fact and blunt when it comes to her observations and feelings. Streeter is very reserved and, while everyone at Split Rock seems to like and respect him, nobody really knows much about him. There are a lot of reason for this that I won’t get into so as to allow you to unfold this story on your own. Just know that Streeter is a great guy. He has always and will always do what is best for his daughter no matter what. His overwhelming need to protect Olivia and keep from having to answer potential questions about her mom have made him a bit of a loner.
When Bailey and Streeter meet, they don’t necessarily like each other, but neither can deny their attraction. Time and time again they are meeting under not-so-great circumstances, snipping at each other and purposely pushing each other’s buttons. The sass they have eventually turns to flirting, and then more.
This story deals with different levels of post-partum depression along with other mental health issues. I appreciate the author delving a bit into the difficulties of having a newborn, be it your first or your fourth. Being overwhelmed doesn’t always mean you’re depressed, and showing a happy face and seeming to have it all together doesn’t mean you’re not depressed.
Watching Streeter and Bailey fall in love and learn to deal with their demons was a joy as well as emotional. The innocence Streeter initially had was sweet and his insecurities really melted my heart. The confident, sexual, adventurous person he becomes melted my panties. Both are good things, in my opinion. I’m so glad I finally got around to reading this story.
Cowboys are everywhere…
I never get enough of these Blacktop Cowboys and Streeter’s story was as emotional as I’d hoped it would be. His daughter was a drum-playing pip as she kept all the adults around her on their toes, her father and every nanny included. Bailey was staying with her sister while she silently dealt with life-changing issues. She never dreamt her military career would segue into boot camping children. Hilariously, it did…
Cowboy, cowboys everywhere and Streeter, well, he was a broody one. Devoted to his daughter, he wanted everything for her. Bailey was confident in the military, as a civilian, not so much. She was hiding a lot as she wrestled with issues she didn’t share with anyone. Until now…
This was a solid entry in a much loved series. Emotional, full of secrets painfully revealed, Streeter and Bailey’s romance was all about honesty and support and of course, love…

Loved the characters ! and the fact that the female lead is a ex-army gave the perspective on this a new twist and made it interesting in a new way. Plus can’t get past single dad’s little cutie Olivia and what she brings to the story for the male lead. Great weekend read!!
I think this may be a big case of “It’s me not you” and being distracted from the Corona virus info-dump overload. Never thought I would write that a Lorelei James book could be boring. Graphic, sexy, OTT, even gross yes, but boring…nope.
The hero is a widower with a young daughter with an attachment disorder.
The heroine has her own issues, family and otherwise.
The H’s wife committed suicide.
The hero found her and there’s some backstory.
The grieving mother of dead wife is struggling.
Where’s the dead dog? No, there is no dead dog.
I may have to resort to Barbara Cartland.
This one pulled at my heartstrings and made me cry. It was a hard story of dealing with depression and suicide but it was told incredibly well. Amazing love story and amazing characters. I’ve read the entire Blacktop Cowboys series and it was wonderful from start to finish.
Bailey, Streeter, and little Olivia made my day, my week, my month. With everything stacked against them, in life, in luck, they persevered, they carried on, they cared, and the loved. Streeter suffered from the loss of his wife, the concern for the suffering of his daughter, uncaring parent, sibling, and in-laws. But his heart was whole, his wanted peace, and it overflowed with concern and care for his daughter, Olivia.
Bailey had always wanted to be noticed, loved, and cared for, but life from an early age taught her to be wary and aloof. Physical was great, but deep down, she wanted someone to know and love her, make her feel needed and cherished. Her life had handed her physical and mental issues that she held close. Sharing them was the same as sharing her heart, and she guarded that fiercely, all be it, hopelessly, because she fell for Streeter and Olivia
I loved this book dealt with a myriad of mental health issues, clearly, without judgment, and without excuse. That it talked about the human condition as a part of everyday life, not something extraordinary or special. I loved that the struggles of survivors isn’t portrayed as overdramatic, or singular, but unique for all involved. There is no quick fix, but there is a way for everyone. I love that Streeter and Bailey found each other, and at the right time, for them to fall in love, and have a richly deserved HEA!
Spun out is a perfect addition to the Blacktop Cowboy series. With a storyline that deals with sensitive mental health issues, I thought Ms. James did a wonderful job showcasing the challenges that her characters were facing. It brought a depth to these characters and allows the reader to have a better understanding of some of the issues they face. (Please note that there may be triggers for some within the storyline) The book touches on depression, suicide and even a child who deals with the world on her own terms and beats to her own drum.
But in the end, this is simply a beautiful romance story (with a side of very steamy moments between Streeter and Bailey) that is going to tug at your heartstrings as you fall in love with Bailey, Steeter and his sweet daughter, Olivia.
Well Lorelei has done it again, if you are looking for an intense, smoking hot book that deals with real life issues, the. This is the next book you should read. Bailey and Streeter have been through a ton in their lives so far and there is a lot of life yet to live but for these two, they are stuck in a rut that will drowned them if they are not careful.
This book had me feeling all sorts of ways; I laughed, cried, panicked, swooned, you name it and this book put you through it. I loved the characters and they way their stories played out. Olivia was the cutest ever!!
Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a copy!!
This as got to.have been one of my favourite books so far this year i couldn’t put it down. This series just keeps getting better and better. If I could I’d have given it more than five stars. I will definitely be telling my friends about it and i can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
Streeter Hale is just trying to survive. It’s been almost 5 years since his wife died. Trying to raise a child who witnessed her mother’s death even though she was really too young to remember and has detachment issues, isn’t the easiest life. So when Seargent Bailey Masterson moves into the trailer next to him and ends up running a boot camp at the ranch for all the employee’s kids, he doesn’t know what to think of her at first. That is except she is sexy as hell and he doesn’t know how to approach her.
Street hasn’t been in a relationship in years. And before that, he was only with one woman. So his experience is pretty much nil. Bailey is trying to figure out what’s next in her life. She’s spending the summer helping out her sister and keeping some secrets of her own. But after meeting the sexy Street Hale – she doesn’t see why she can’t lose herself in the sexy cowboy for the summer. Since that’s all she can commit too.
This book is super steamy and sexy. The storyline is one that will tug at your heart. Single Dad who is just trying to make it the best way he knows how and love a little girl who’s been damaged by a mother she doesn’t even know. Bailey is the right fit for both Street and his daughter but can she forgive her own past in order to have a future with Street.
LOVE THIS BOOK! And this entire series is one of my all-time favorites
Loved! This book drew me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I did not put it down. Bailey is in the process of leaving the military and she is one tough as nails woman. From the beginning you knew something was going on with Bailey but never knew just what until the end. NO SPOILERS given. I will just say that my heart went out to her and I cried. Have tissue handy. Streeter is a single dad. His daughter Olivia has some, well, some fears, something in her past affected her to the core of who she is. I loved how these two finally come together and have their HEA. It is a rough road, full of heat and tears, but worth it in the end.
I’m so sad this is the last installment of this series! I tried to read it oh so slow and savor the flavor of the story line and the characters!!
I’ve loved this whole series, and this one didn’t disappoint! There was humor, sweet moments and very serious moments, all rolled up into one story that had me captivated!
Streeter is smart, sexy, and a hot single dad! Bailey is a bad a$$ woman, with quite the life! When these two get together….fireworks!
Smoking, witty, page turning, I never wanted it to end! Lorelei James has a way of making her characters seem like they’re in the next room and you’re eavesdropping on their lives. Her plot line and character development are so realistic it’s a fantastic experience for the reader. Bailey and Streeter’s story is no different. We get to watch as their relationship gets off to an interesting start and then the fires start burning.
I adore the Blacktop Cowboy series, and this book is a welcome addition. I’m so excited that Bailey finally got her own story and HEA. It can be read as a standalone, but you lose out on all of the character backstory. So treat yourself and one-click the rest of the series too.
This is one of my favorite series to read and reread over and over again. This book adds to the phenomenal series. Lorelei James has done it again. I love that while reading about another couple you also get to catch up on past couples. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this look at Streeter and Bailey.
The ups and downs and issues this couple had to go through proved that they were perfect for each other.
I loved the epilogue!!!
This is book 10 in the Blacktop Cowboy series and can absolutely be read as a stand alone and still understand everything that happens in it. Bailey Masterson has spent the last few years in the Army and now has to make the decision on whether to move on from it or find something else that can make her happy. But after so many years in she only knows the training that was provided to her and doesn’t know what she would do, or even want to do, if she leaves. Streeter Hale has been a single parent since his daughter was a baby. He doesn’t have time for anything but his daughter and his job. And he certainly doesn’t expect or want the attraction he feels towards Bailey. Especially as he knows she has her own wounds and secrets that she is dealing with. But these two may be just the thing that is needed in order for them to be whole and strong.
I really liked this one! I hadn’t read any of the other books in this series and was iffy about starting this many books in, but it sounded really good and now I am glad I did! Bailey seems like she is this woman who is beyond strong and can do anything, but she has things that she struggles with just like everyone else. And that made me love her even more!! Streeter has been struggling with raising his daughter on his own since she was a baby and the things that happened with her mother. But he does his best and even takes the steps he knows are necessary to try to be the best parent he can be. Olivia is this funny and quirky little girl who definitely makes you laugh even though you know she has her own issues as well. The only reason I didn’t give this one 5 stars was because I struggled with the beginning and getting into it. But once I got farther in, I was completely sucked into the story and couldn’t put it down until I finished it! It was definitely well worth the read!
While Lorelei James is a must-buy author for me, I don’t automatically give every book a five-star review. This book, however, demands it!
I love how damaged Bailey is and yet she’s so caring, loving and lovable. She’s a hard nut to crack though and she’s lucky to have a man who eventually figures her out and makes her come to terms with her issues and hangs on tight when she wants to run.
Streeter is a sweetheart. Sure he’s not very experienced in things of the heart…or even sex… but he’s got all the right traits. He loves his daughter. He’s a good dad, with a few things to learn still. He’s strong. He’s not intimidated by Sargent B. He just needs the right person to reach inside and help him past his wife’s death, and his and his daughter’s issues tied to her loss. Bailey’s straightforward, no holds barred style is the perfect way to bring him out.
It was torture watching these two getting closer and closer and still not dealing with those last things that were keeping them apart. Delicious torture. Spun Out is a must-reread book for me!
Streeter and Bailey…..their story brought laughter, tears and WOW what a Cowboy. They are two people that life has thrown curve balls and as each are learning to cope them, they find each other. It’s not a beautiful gift, wrapped in a fancy bow…it’s life and you take the good with the bad and learn to live through the punches.
Streeter’s daughter Olivia is also a big part of this story and I just wanted to give her a great big hug.
I loved this book. As usual Lorelei has given us some hot love scenes mixed in with two people learning to navigate life as they have been handed it.
I highly recommend this book and all the other Blacktop Cowboy series. You cannot go wrong picking these to read.
Spun Out is a super sizzling, steamy, fun romance with wonderful characters that kept me turning the pages. Bailey and Streeter were just great together and after all the heart break and drama Streeter had dealt with in his life and with what Bailey had went through and was still going through I just wanted them to have their HEA……and the ending was perfect! Such an enjoyable story with just the right mix of everything that makes a great romance!
I loved the book. It was hard to put down. It was great that they both had secrets and were able to work on them together. I loved the journey for Bailey and how she used her training to watch the kids and help out. I did miss the Mud Lillies though.
