This story was wonderful from beginning to end. I felt like I was there with them. The characters were charming and I loved the story line. It even has animals. This is a great story for everyone to read.
Oh my!
This second book in the Sweetwater Springs contemporary romance series is an absolute joy to read from beginning to HEA. I cried and laughed and just could not put it down. SPRINGTIME AT HOPE COTTAGE (Sweetwater Springs #2) by Annie Rains was a pleasure to read.
Josie Kellum is a writer on a major magazine in NYC. It was her dream job until the arrival of the new owner. She decides she needs a trip to visit her BFF, Kaitlyn in Sweetwater Springs for article ideas and time to consider her future at the magazine. As Josie is walking behind Kaitlyn’s B&B, she goes off the trail and ends up with a severely twisted knee. Kaitlyn knows the perfect physical therapist to help get her up and about as soon as possible. She is supposed to return to NYC soon.
Tucker “Tuck” Locklear grew up in Sweetwater Springs and returned after college to run his physical therapy practice using the outdoors and nature at Hope Cottage to heal instead of an exercise room in a facility. He has been a widower for two years now and is just starting to move on. His first impression of Josie is of a high maintenance city girl, but as the two get closer he finds she is so much more. Tuck knows Josie will be returning to NYC soon and it would be stupid to risk his heart on someone who will be leaving, but there is so much he likes about Josie.
Tuck and Josie get an extra month together when there is a fire in the apartment next to Josie’s in NYC. They each have reasons that should keep them apart, but the attraction is too strong. Can Josie slow down and quit running? Can Tuck take the chance at a second love?
This is story that will stay with me for a while. Josie’s reasons for hiding in her work and Tuck’s reasons for not getting involved were all handled realistically by this author. Ms. Rains writing had me completely engrossed in Sweetwater Springs and its inhabitants. So many little things can add up in our lives and change a person. These characters showed that sometimes you have to forgive yourself as much as others. All of the secondary characters are as realistic and entertaining as the H/h. This is a sweet romance and none of the sex scenes are explicit.
This is an emotional romance read with a very satisfying HEA. I can highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Thanks very much to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Net Galley for allowing me to read this eARC.
When Josie gets “stuck” in Sweetwater Springs she starts to rethink her life and wonder what could be next in her life. I really enjoyed this book was super fun read. Some parts of the book was a little predictable how ever it did not take away from the story overall. The story has a way of getting to your heart for sure. The author draws you in and has away of wanting you to book your next trip to Sweetwater Springs. I love small town romances and I just love small town books they have away of making you feel like you are catching up with friends and that was very much the case with this book. This book does have adult situations and may no be suitable for all readers. I really can’t see what happens next in Sweetwater Springs and see where the author goes next with this wonder group of characters. If you are looking for quick and fun read grab this book I don’t think you will be disappointed.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
I really liked this book. It was a little slow to get into, but after the first few chapters, I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the setting of the book – the small town charm, the community events, the cottage – everything about it was sweet and inviting. I liked Tuck and Josie – they had some real challenges going on in their lives but they made a cute couple and a good team. The events flowed well in the book. Overall a cute, light-hearted read and I recommend.
I was provided a free copy of the book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed reading Josie’s story. When Josie flew in to visit with her best friend, she didn’t expect to have complications in her life while visiting. Tuck being a widow is not expecting doing a friend a favor might change his outlook on life.
The story had surprises but it was a great story. You will not be disappointed with this book. I did receive a copy.
I loved this story! Tuck and Josie seemed like opposites at the start. But as the story progressed, their differences fit together so well! I loved both of the lead characters and Maddie so much!!! The story was paced well and I read it in one day! I have added Annie Rains to my list of favorite authors. I will definitely pick up her other books since I enjoyed this one so much! I received a copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lovely story! New Yorker Josie travels to Sweetwater Springs to visit her best friend, Kaitlyn, who owns a bed and breakfast with her fiancee, Mitch. Soon after arriving, Josie becomes injured while walking on the nearby trail and needs physical therapy. The problem with that is she’s already at odds with Tucker, who picked her up at the airport. He’s the physical therapist! I enjoyed hearing Josie and Tucker’s story and how they dealt with the unexpected challenges which came their way. I’m definitely adding the rest of Annie Rain’s Sweetwater Springs books to my To Be Read list!
Love Sweetwater Springs! First I read of this series……now will backtrack and read the others. Sometimes you just want a sweet story and this book definitely delivers. Josie is heading to Sweetwater Springs for a week getaway a visit her BFF, Kaitlyn. Tucker a friend of Kaitlyn gets roped into picking up Josie from the airport. They definitely got off on the wrong foot, but there is a spark between them. Josie dream job has gone downhill with the new management, her apartment building in NY has a minor fire, but now she is temporarily homeless. The B & B is sold out, as is every other place in town due to the festival coming up. Tucker to the rescue again! Tucker really doesn’t want to have the beautiful City Princess living in his rental, he isn’t ready for the temptation of letting a women into his life. The characters are realistic, the town sounds charming. A nice getaway.
I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
Enjoyable sweet reed.
Tucker is a widower, he still mourn his late wife. Will meeting Josie change his mind.
Work only matter for Josie, but meeting Tucker, changed her.
This is book two and I guess I need to go back and read the first book.
Josie needs a break from the city and Sweetwater Springs Nona’s her best friend Kaitlyn living in this beautiful town.
A sweet southern contemporary b romance.
Loved the characters and Tucks story.
A wonderful story from start to finish.
Thank you NetGalley and Annie Rains for the opportunity to read this book.
A sweet book about small town ways featuring a visiting New Yorker. A variety of great characters and a not too much of a surprise reveal midway through the book.
While this was an enjoyable story, it seemed stretched out in places and brisk in others. It certainly was a delightful look at a variety of characters in this small town. From grumpy to loveable, they all portrayed the small town ways of gossip and opinions. You couldn’t help hope for a HEA even when it looked impossible!
Fun story that will satisfy your romantic streak!
3.5/5 stars
Springtime at Hope Cottage is the second book in Annie Rains Sweetwater Springs series. This can be read as a stand alone, which is true for all the books in the series. For example, I’m working my way backwards going from book 4 to 1 #dontjudgeme
“A man with a broken heart and a woman with a guarded one probably aren’t the best match.”
This is a sweet opposites attract small town romance between a physical therapist widower and a city journalist. Josie was up beat, kind and caring. She may not have made the first impression on Tuck but you could tell right away that she was a good person. Tuck I didn’t connect with as much. I felt he was way too judgmental of Josie and he was inconsiderate at times in the beginning. Even by the end I didn’t really love him but I did enjoy him and Josie together as a couple. The story itself is low angst with fade to black love scenes that fit book perfectly.
“Seems to me things get easier when you’re around,” he offered. “It’s even easier to breathe somehow.”
Springtime at Hope Cottage was another enjoyable cozy small town romance in Annie Rains Sweetwater Springs series.
3.25/5 stars!
When the heroine visits Sweetwater Springs, an accident befell the heroine to stay longer than she had expected. The hero, a physical therapist, helps with her recuperation while trying not to be attracted to her. As the couple fall in love with each other, they encounter changes and choices they need to face if they wanted a future together.
I liked the small-town vibes and the secondary characters. I liked the twist and how it gave depth to the story. The animals were crucial, be they small or large, to the story in the interactions between the hero and the heroine. I did feel that past relationships of one character overpowered the present main relationship in the book, even if said relationships were critical to the story. Otherwise, it was a nice read.
As for the bonus story, it’s 4/5 stars. The young couple have a falling out as they viewed different futures for each other and themselves. Basically the story is bittersweet for the young couple as they resolved said conflict; this is a prequel for one character in the series.
**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.**
The story of Tuck and Josie is one of hope – hope for moving forward, hope of feeling at home and finding love. The hope one realizes when they have good friends and family and a feeling of belonging. Springtime at Hope Cottage is a wonderful, heartwarming return to Sweetwater Springs, and another touching story of friendship, family, finding home, and discovering love. Annie Rains does a wonderful job of drawing the reader in and she made me feel like the people in Sweetwater Springs are my friends. I know I definitely want to make another visit to this enchanting little town!
love that all three novels in the Sweetwater Springs series include a dog. A charming town, special characters, & sweet as sugar.
Springtime at Hope Cottage, the second book in the Sweetwater Springs series, is a romantic page turner. Filled with second chances, this novel successfully touched on every one of my emotions and left me wanting more! Josie has made the trip to Sweetwater Springs to visit her best friend, Kaitlyn. Being from New York, Josie is unaccustomed to small town living but will soon find out what she has been missing with the help of Tuck Locklear. Tuck who has just recently started dating again after the death of his wife, Renee, finds himself becoming attracted to Josie. Is there a chance that Josie will be the balm to soothe Tucks broken heart? Will Tuck’s past come back to haunt him or will there be further reasons for him to finally live a happily ever after? What magic will be weaved in the majestic town of Sweetwater Springs this time? Author, Annie Rains, has drawn me into this beautifully written new series! I cannot wait to read the next adventure in Sweetwater Springs!
Springtime at Hope Cottage by Annie Rains is a feel good small-town romance. These characters get their second chances, and you want them to be happy. This will make your heart swell and sing.
4 1/2 STARS!
Small town life leads to a sweet romance! On this return visit to Sweetwater Springs, we reconnect with Kaitlyn and Mitch from the first book in the series as they interact with her best friend and the guy she seems to be falling for. The setting is peaceful and heartfelt with an emotionally rich plot. Really enjoying this series!
New York City magazine editor Josie Kellum has enjoyed visiting her best friend at the cozy little inn she runs in Sweetwater Springs, North Carolina but she’s raring to get home to her hectic city lifestyle. Fate has something else in store for her though when she’s sidelined by a minor injury and forced to stay in Sweetwater Springs for a little longer. It’s not all bad though … there’s a gorgeous man involved!
Physical therapist Tucker Locklear can’t deny that Josie wakes up a part of him that’s been dormant since his wife died a couple of years ago, but they’re all wrong for each other. She’s city, he’s country … she’s stressed, he’s laid back … and most importantly, he’s loved and lost before and been left heartbroken, so he’s not game to give it another go.
This was such a sweet, sweet romance! The characters jumped out of the page at me since I had read the previous book, CHRISTMAS ON MISTLETOE LANE. But you don’t need to read the books in order because the characters will come alive for you as a standalone! This is the story of Josie, a magazine writer who comes to Sweetwater Springs for a week of vacation. She encounters a local physical therapist, Tucker Locklear, and the thumping of the heart of Josie and myself increased. I loved their story, the challenges that they faced together and the way that they overcame obstacles. My favorite character was Halona, Tucker’s sister, who seemed to know before Tucker did that he was in love. I also liked Maddie, the eleven year old patient of Tucker who just wants to be like the other kids at school. This book addresses more than overcoming obstacles in love. It also addresses bullying and parental awareness. Further, it addresses caring for the elderly and making sure that they feel included. What a great book to read for a really deep, heart-moving, good feeling that there is goodness and light in the world! Positivity flows through the pages and fans of romance will not be disappointed! Loved this book!

This is a sweetly thrilling, heartwarming and engaging romance that is filled with all the small-town goodness you could hope for. Loved Sweetwater Springs and the intriguing charters I got to know on this journey. Really enjoyed reading this emotionally thrilling second chance! Looking forward to more from this series.
