All to often you find that sequels fall short of the glorious story told in the first volume. This is not the case Spring’s Rising! With this book, it out shines it’s predecessor! The author(s) have done an incredible job developing their characters, especially, Charlie and the plot. There great twists and turns in the plot that keep you guessing as to what will happen next. I could not put this book and I can’t wait for the next installment! Fantastic read!
WOW!!!!
JUST WOW!
I’m so loving this series! WINTER’S CAPTIVE, the first book grabbed ahold of me and I hadn’t read a YA book before . I was so impressed that i couldn’t wait for this book to make its appearance cause I wanted to know what was going to happen with Charlie , Oli and Logan, not to mention the lesser characters in the background.
So many great characters , even to the horses!!
Now , more questions arise! And although we can surmise that Oli’ s father has been murdered, I’m not putting my coin on Fia…that , to me is to obvious.
So ,as this and a host of other things roll around in my mind , MY biggest question is :
Robin and Elle , when’s the next book coming ??? Inquiring minds want to know ( lol I do anyway)
Thank you , I loved it , and eagerly await the next leg in this story’s journey!
Book two of the Lochlann Treaty kicked off with a bang!
Charlie grows so much in this book, and my heart ached at some of the things she experienced, not to mention the depth of feeling written on the page.
I am loving the direction this series is heading in!!
This book picks up right after Charlie’s kidnapped at the end of book one. Its quick-paced, intense beginning sucks the reader right back into the story. There were so many emotions going on in this part, but let’s be honest, throughout the whole book.
I loved seeing Charlie’s real response to all she’d gone through, even though it was heartbreaking. It made her that much more relatable. She’s depressed and struggling, but she pushes past that like the fierce ruler she’s growing to be. She’s no longer the naïve princess she was at the start, and watching her make bold choices both for her friends and kingdom was fantastic.
This series is so well written and easy to get lost in. I actually listened to the audiobook this time around, and the narrator did such an incredible job bringing the story and characters to life!
Full review for book three, Summer’s Rebellion, is coming super soon because I finished both within 24 hours. I couldn’t stop. The only reason I didn’t continue with the fourth book was because it was four in the morning and I had to get up somewhat early. However, by the time this review goes up, I probably will have it read too.
Highly recommend this series!
Great Sequel! There’s some mystery revolving Oli. Fia is a fun character amd has some secrets of her own. You love to hate her.
I absolutely love Jimmy and Bridget
Charlie’s got a little PTSD. She’s struggling with being bound by her duty to her kindgom
She is learning about herself and starting to fight for what she wants.
There’s lots of romantic tension.
And some revelations Never a dull moment! Every page keeps you hooked.
.
Some Quotes:
“We all have demons, Princess. Even after we kill them, they can haunt us.”
.
“It’s a battle scar, woman.” His breath was warm against my ear, his voice low. “And you survived it. Be proud of that. Open yer eyes.”
.
“At least your calves are safe tonight, Logan.” He chuckled. “Thank the lord, woman. I think they got frostbite that first time.” He paused. “So are ye actually going to go to sleep, then, or were ye planning to thrash around like a wee banshee for a while?”
.
She met my eyes, the truth of my statement shining through hers, and I reflected for a moment on the nature of friendship. Sometimes it’s in secrets whispered in the dark, the things you can say to one another that you’d never tell another soul. And sometimes, it’s in the things you don’t say while you take comfort in each other’s presence.
Spring’s Rising, the 2nd in the Lochlann Treaty series picks right up where the Winter’s Captive left off.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series and this second book did not disappoint. Charlie is a great character, strong and free spirited. She really grows through this book and it’s nice to see those strengths.
The audio is very well done and enjoyable to listen to.
Cant wait for more!!
WOW! That was quite the adventure. I was slightly nervous starting Spring’s Rising because I didn’t love the previous book, but at the same time HAD to know what happened.
Well, find out what happened I did.
And man! Poor Charlie! That beginning was brutal and was totally concerned what was going to happen to these characters. All except one, that is. For possible spoilers, I won’t say who, but I didn’t like him at the end of Winter’s Captive and definitely still don’t like him now. However, kudos to the authors because I do have a *twinge* of sympathy for said character. Not much, though.
I’ve really come to admire our lead heroine and how much she’s grown. She is indeed a Warrior Queen and excited to see how she’ll grow. (Here’s to hoping it will come as a result of good things and not incredibly hard, life-altering things.)
And because I could not fail to mention the amazing Logan, the #TeamLogan vibes in this story had me grinning so hard and just giggling. If I could have yelled out in my excitement, I totally would have. 😉
Excellent continuing novel in The Lochlann Treaty!
When Charlie finds out some truths her world is flipped on its axis and she doesn’t know what she wants anymore. Springs Rising was even better than Winter’s Captive. I love the way we read Charlie growing threw each book and cant wait to read more in the next book
I am finally reviewing after reading all 4 books in this series. The whole series, the complete package, are definitely a MUST READ! I can’t express enough how much I truly madly deeply love these books! I love the amazing and beautiful story they tell, and the completely captivating journey of mind, heart and soul they take you on, and the wonderful world you are pulled into. You can’t put these books down, and they still are just as enrapturing when re-reading them- so many nuances, delicious character descriptions and details! I can’t recommend these books enough, I am proud to own them in all their beautiful glory and display them on my shelf with other beloved classics.
The twist and turns, the ups and downs of this story kept me from sleeping but it was worth it. I really enjoyed reading the growth that came through the struggle. I felt for Charlie as she tried to heal from the ugly and painful truths she discovered about Oliver along with the physical healing needed after she escaped from the rebels. I wanted to weep with her and cheered when Logan came to pull her out of her depression and remind her that scars are proof we won the battle against the monsters who thought they were stronger. When she finally admitted her feelings about Logan I wasn’t surprised. They really are the perfect match. I hope in future books something good will happen. I was rather shocked with the ending as she watched her future father in law King Rowan die in her arms at the spring festival. Who is the real villain, I’ve got my guesses. Read on to find out
Picking up right after the first book, this book was perfection! It answered some of my questions, gave me the love story I wanted, and a great amount of action! The book ended at the perfect time too – a huge cliffhanger that has me excitedly beginning the third book ASAP! I was surprised by how much the characters developed in this book, especially Logan, Oliver, and Charlie. I loved seeing Isla too!
Overall rating: 4.5
Book 2 is a very easy read. This author does a wonderful job creating the personalities of these characters while still being able to leave facets very unpredictable. I found myself feeling as though they are real. The storyline itself leaves mysteries to unravel as well as many unexpected surprises. Looking forward to the next in this series. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Poor Charlie! Life only gets harder for her after her escape from her captors and her connection to Logan gets more complicated. She used to pretend that her future with Oliver would end up like a fairy tale, but grim reality and learning the truth about him only makes her outlook more tormented. She is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, her freedom and happiness, for the safety of the two kingdoms. Will marriage to Oliver be enough, though? And, why are the adults so oblivious to the machinations between a certain royal brother and sister? Even Oliver is clueless, but Charlie is beginning to ask the questions that others aren’t. It seems like everything rests on Charlie’s shoulders, but she’s strong and she won’t stop until she knows her people are safe.
This is a heart-wrenching tale and so intense and exciting that I could hardly put it down! I think I have more questions than answers after reading Book 2. I’m glad to see that Charlie is growing into a brave and clever young woman. I’m wondering if she’ll discover fae blood running through her veins. I’m also wanting to learn more about the leader of the rebellion, MacKinnon. There’s more to him than we know at this stage. As this is a series, the first and second books will leave you hanging.
I received an eARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I’m reeling from this book!!! The first of the series was a solid 4 stars, but this one blew it out of the water!!! I’m so so in love with Logan and Charlie. That ending has left me totally floored. I can’t wait for book 3
Omg this book was even better than the first one. I really loved it. I was giddy and on the edge of my seat the whole time reading it. I love how Charlie has learned so much and that she became even stronger and more fitted for her role as queen. I definitely can’t wait to read more of Charlie’s story. Great job too the authors. Keep up the great writing
This is a great story. Charlie has alot of obstacles to get past and face. She faces alot of scars. Now she needs to be able to be the leader her people needs. This us a fast paced read with alot of action. It grabbed me from the first page to the last. I definitely recommend this read.
