Book Five of the Thanksgiving Books & Blessings Collection. Ivy is quite the woman. She can run the ranch and the ranch house. She fights new neighbor Dell for the spring on the property deeded to her family ranch and Dell says the surveyor shows it’s his. So a scheme begins for Dell. The story has ups and downs with twists and turns like any good story should. It’s a good reminder of Thanksgivings also. Definitely recommend this one to enjoy. I received a copy of this book from the author. All views stated here are my own.
A drought and water rights make for friction between neighboring ranches. Dell and Ivy start out as enemies. Both characters are well developed. Ivy is likable from the start. Dell, while we readers understand the reasons, has a great deal of character growth to get him where we are pulling for the romance. Two of the supporting characters add wisdom and trust in God to the story. The plot has twists and turns and rattlesnakes and train wrecks. It moves along at a good pace. There is a special HEA. I recommend this to readers of clean/wholesome romance, to Christian romance readers, and to western romance readers. I plan to read more of this author’s works as I enjoy her writing style. I got my copy through KU.
If you want a sweet read that keeps you reading then read this book.
This is a clean and sweet novella that is perfect for the Thanksgiving holidays. The fact that this book is a little shorter in length makes it perfect to read during a busy time.
This story centers around the characters of Ivy and Dell. Ivy is a compassionate, loyal, and determined young woman who has the weight of the world on her shoulders as she tries to take care of her aging father and save them from financial ruin. It took me longer to warm up to Dell, the potential “hero” of this story. I did enjoy seeing his character grow and change all throughout the story.
I loved this quote from the book by Ivy’s dad: “Look around…we have baskets overflowing with thanksgiving.” The heart of this wonderful story by Liz Tolsma is the heart of Thanksgiving—taking time to stop and consider all that God has provided for us, even when we may be facing difficulties or sorrow. I found myself counting my own blessings as I read this book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Spring of Thanksgiving by Liz Tolsma is a delightful novella set in Texas during the 1880s. Having read and enjoyed another of this author’s books, I was looking forward to reading this one and was not disappointed. The author brings a difficult time-period to life with finesse as she describes the struggles of drought, problems with the railroad, the management of ranch hands and just keeping one’s head above water financially. The characters are realistic and either likable and relatable, or just plain mean. I loved Juanita, the housekeeper at one of the ranches. She is just down to earth and had such good advice. The dialogue flowed seamlessly without sounding forced. I had a hard time putting the book down and pretty much read it in one sitting. Spring of Thanksgiving is a great story about forgiveness and the recognition that God is in the business of changing hearts and minds to bring about peace. We just have to trust Him, even in the difficult times of our lives. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I received a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
This is a very sweet, easy to read western historical romance. I really enjoyed the characters. They each needed to learn to trust in each other. I loved reading about how they were starting to use the barb wire to keep the cattle from wandering onto the railroad tracks. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Spring of Thanksgiving is a delightful story about minds and hearts changed by love. What begins as a plan to preserve their ranches ends up as something much different when Ivy and Dell get to know each other. But will love prevail as their motives are questioned?
