“The intriguing concept of soul mates throughout time will keep the reader’s attention through the padding of Ava’s first days at college and Maddox’s inexplicable elusiveness. The time-travel elements are coherent and fascinating, and Dean (To Katie with Love) finds her strengths when she brings Maddox, Laith, and Ava together.” ~ Publishers Weekly

Well I have just got to say color me impressed. It started off slow and it took a few moments to really get into it but once it grabbed me I could not put it down.
Now that doesn’t mean it was a 5 star book. It may be my advanced age or something but there were times I rolled my eyes at Ava. Blatantly giving in to peer pressure…dropping a class so she can eat lunch with people she just met. And her mom falling for the body shaped pillows in the bed? Believing she is over a friend’s when the friend calls and never requests to speak to Ava? My favorite…accepting time travel is real, cursed, etc… before her boyfriend disappeared in front of her. Yeah I still want to know what happens next so hush.

You have to read this one!
I love time travel theme, but this one was more, as called in the book… “time jumpers”. They were born in 1625 and this book took place in 2014… but they had been all over time between! It was good all the way through, believable even, and about 3/4 the way through a “never saw that one coming” happened and it ended with a “when’s Book 2 coming out?” as the epilogue for book 2 was at the end. Amazing how the writer kept the timeing of the jumps in proper prospective and orderly. Fun Fun book to read!
The novel was very promising. Then it abruptly ends. The reader needs to read the rest of the sequels to bring closure. Very disappointing.
It was like reading 1/2 a story.
Let me start with what I didn’t like.. I hate books that end on a cliff and this one quite literally ended that way. This is why I rated it a 3 instead of 4. The only redeeming grace is that the sequel is available. I am reserving judgment on the story line until I read the follow up…
this was an interesting read, definitely in the Young Adult/teen category which I don’t normally read. I loved the plot twists and very unexpected one near the end.
Title: Splintered Souls
Author: Erica Lucke Dean
Genre: Sci-fi/Paranormal Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 250
Rating: 5
Heat: 4
Thoughts: This was such a pleasure to read! Erica’s ability to suck you into a book is uncanny. I couldn’t put it down but I wanted to just so the story would last. At first I was rooting for Maddox but then I got a taste of Laith and now I’m not sure who to root for. This is a love triangle with a twist (that I will try not to give away). Ava is a soul mate to both of them (how does that work? I know but I won’t tell you!). Feelings of guilt, confusion, and anger overwhelm Ava, along with love and lust. FYI…. CLIFFHANGER!!!! Not surprising though, and it was the perfect spot to do it (even though I yelled at the author for it lol). I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
