First Rule of Spite Club: Don’t fall for your fake boyfriend. Here’s what happened:My boyfriend cheated on me with Nick Mason’s girlfriend. We’re both angry. What better way to get revenge than to pretend to get together out of spite?Nick is rude and rebellious and completely freaking gorgeous. He’s not my type, and I’m not his. There’s no way we would work outside of our little game of dirty … outside of our little game of dirty sex and well kept secrets.
The problem is, he’s an addiction. Or maybe a plague. The more time I spend with him, the more I risk my good-girl image and my carefully built life.
I might want what’s bad for me. I might want Nick. And I might have to convince him – if I can survive him.

Nobody likes to be think their partner is cheating on them. Evie thinks she has the perfect boyfriend but Nick spoils that when he finds his girlfriend with Evie’s boyfriend. Nick and Evie are great characters, neither of them are perfect but they are great together. Both have family issues that have shaped them into the people they are. The story is great, the characters are great, you can’t help but love the book. I also loved Nick’s brother Andrew.
Having met under odd circumstances–discovering their partners were cheating on them with each other–the coupling of Nick and Evie isn’t evident. Nick, a douchy guy w/no job who parties all the time is quite the opposite from hard-working Evie with plans for her future. But fate seems determined to bring them together. After spending time together, Nick and Evie get to know each other, and find out they have a bit more in common than either of them thought. And those differences turn out to be a pretty good thing, as well.
This was a funny, cute, and kinda hot eventual love story. Julie Kriss is a favorite author, and I really enjoyed getting to know Nick and Evie.
Joe Arden and Lessa Lamb were great narrating this story. Next up for me will be Andrew’s story.
Audio Review
This is a sweet book that starts out bad. Evie has tried desperately to have a good girl vibe but when she gets a call that her boyfriend has been caught cheating on her and is about to be beat up she never dreamed that she would fall for the guy that called her and how her bad girl would come out to play.
Nick suspected his girlfriend was cheating on him and when he caught them red handed he decides to share the info with the guys girlfriend. What he didn’t expect was the sparks between him and Evie and how much he wants not only to protect her but to keep her.
Joe Arden was a perfect Nick. Loved listening to him. Lessa Lamb was good as Evie. She portrayed her sweet side well..
I enjoyed this book. It has some family dynamics for both Nick and Evie that they have to work through. It also shows us to do what makes us happy and to not try to please everyone else. You have to please yourself first. It also shows us there is more that meets the eyes sometimes and that was the case with Nick. He puts off a bad boy image but deep down he is a good guy. I recommend this book.
It was cute, very cute. I hated the woe is me. There could have been a little soul searching but it wasn’t bad. Love the dog and the sex was hot. So thumbs up would recommend.
This is a bad boy romance, that deep down we all love, with a wake up call to not judge anyone based on first appearances and rumors.
I enjoyed reading this book and I consumed it in a little white, appreciating what it taught me: we all have skeletons in our closets and sometimes, we need an outsider to help us see beyond it, making us even stronger to make it better all by ourselves.
I went into this thinking it was just another romance novel but it got way deeper. Smart and sexy with excellent character development.
The title hooked me because who doesn’t love sarcasm? Honestly, the summary drew me in when it started with the main characters meeting as a result of infidelity on the part of their significant others. They decide to get some old fashioned payback in the form of pretending to get together and actually end up lovers. Yes, it sounds cliche in summary, but the author managed to make an old penny shine. Definitely worth checking out.
One of the best meet-cute I’ve read this year! And the rest of the book doesn’t disappoint either.
What a bizarre start to a romcom. I absolutely loved Nick, he’s a bad boy with so much baggage but wants Evie to fight for herself and get her fire back. This book steamy…. and Nick will have you begging for him to be your book boyfriend!
You will enjoy your time away from current reality with this book
This was a great twist to a cheating story and I loved it! Great story, great read and I couldn’t put it down!
Loved this book, fun read!
This book has so much… entertaining and surprising, heartwrenching and tender, and of course plenty of hot and spicy.
Her boyfriend cheated with his girlfriend and now Nick is suggesting they pretend they are dating to spite their exes. What could possibly go wrong?
With pasts that damaged them in different ways they will each battle through the process of letting someone in to discover a relationship they didn’t realize they needed or wanted.
I loved how the crazy and unexpected start to Evie and Nick’s relationship gave us a glimpse into the man Nick tried to hide from everyone.
Loved this story. Characters grabbed my attention right away and kept me interested
“You’re nice. I’m too dirty for you.”
I absolutely love fake relationship stories and this one hooked me from the start.
Evie Bates and Nick Mason meet when their respective partners are screwing each other. Nick’s advice to Evie after the encounter – find someone to fuck.
Who wants to find their boyfriend cheating on you with someone else- uh, no one, but this totally derails Evie’s PLAN. She’s worked hard to stay on her “schedule.” Get a good job, get a good boyfriend, behave and act appropriately, etc. even though we come to find out this really isn’t what the true Evie is all about. Nick is the complete opposite. He has no plan, no job and is a complete asshole which he fully and completely admits to being. Despite having what appears nothing in common, these two opposites sure do attract!
Both Evie and Nick had demons that influenced how they lived their lives and I would have loved to have gone deeper into these and seen more of how each got the other to open up and move past their issue but some of these heavier topics were just glossed over and the story came to a quick end. For a 190 page book there was definitely room for more which could have pushed it to a 5 star read for me but that being said I still loved this story and how they came to be together.
And now onto Nick’s brother Andrew…can’t wait to read his story!
My first book by this author. I was pleasantly surprised and really loved this book. It was different than the other books I’ve read so far. I mean, I never encountered the plot and storyline like this but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I only wished it was longer because I enjoyed it so much and I read it pretty quickly. It was really fun, but also sexy, amazing, beautiful and heartwarming with a great background.
Nick and Evie were just amazing together. They had chemistry and connection. They were believable characters who were damaged and flawed and I loved their development through story. Also loved how Nick wanted to protect her from beginning and how much he wanted to spend time with her even though he was trying to avoid her and relationship. I consider this a second chance romance and fake relationship turned real. What I love about these characters is that neither of them are perfect but they both have their own little quirks and mannerisms that it makes them perfect.
Nick informs Evie their respective other halves are cheating on them, takes her out for a consolation sandwich, and gives her some life advice, including finding him at the boxing gym if she needs to punch somebody. He doesn’t really want anything more to do with her because she’s a Nice Girl™ and he’s a Jerk Who Doesn’t Do Feelings™.
We all know how that goes.
A fairly quick read at around 200 pages, with a little more emotional depth and character development than I usually find at that length without getting super angsty. It was a good palate cleanser at the end of an otherwise rough reading month.
It was very average, but enjoyable.
There is something about a bad boy that softens for the right woman. Great story. Fabulous ending,
Such a page turner. Where do I find me a man like him? Swear you wont be able to put it down!
