Spirits, Spells and Wedding Bells is the fifth entertaining installment in A Pyper Rayne series. This series does need to be read in order, or you will be lost. Spirits, Spells and Wedding Bells has such unique characters (the author has a delightful imagination). I like that they are a close group of friends who are there for each other through thick and thin. Pyper Rayne is looking forward to her upcoming wedding to Julius. She is ready to start a family especially after seeing Jade and Kane with their little darling. Jade and Kane’s little girl is six weeks old which leaves Jade feeling a wee bit tired (and cranky since she cannot have alcohol). I have enjoyed watching Pyper and Jade fall in love and marry. I laughed from beginning to end while reading Spirits, Spells and Wedding Bells. Deanna Chase managed to immediately capture my attention and hold it throughout the book. Ida May is a one-of-a-kind character whose antics will have you giggling. I love how protective she is of Pyper’s little dog. I like the magical aspects of the book and how it is integrated into the story. The mystery is present, but not necessarily the dominate aspect of the book. It was still interesting with a shocking twist. The friendships, romance, magic, ghosts, the businesses, the mystery and the dogs all tie together into one diverting tale. I was sorry when I finished this book much too quickly. The only aspect that I do not like is the foul language of which there was way too much of for me. I wanted to share my favorite Ida May phrase with you. It is “Stick a fork in me, I’m burning up with sin. That man is hot.” Spirits, Spells and Wedding Bells has spirited ghosts, racy lingerie, a dangerous dagger, magical mayhem, a hot hubby, and one enchanting wedding.
Audiobook review: Excitement once again when joy should be widespread amongst the witches. The storyline is interesting and entertaining and the characters are likable. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I thoroughly enjoyed the paranormal mystery aspect of these books, and couldn’t wait to dive in to the final chapter in Pyper’s life. I feel like all books had been building up to this one moment…. And in the end I was a bit let down. At least in this book, there’s a reason why Julius is absent – he’s been transformed back into a ghost. I feel like the emotional toll that takes on Pyper bled into the rest of the story leaving it turbulent and choppy at times. The sleuthing isn’t as well developed as previous books and jumps around a lot, leaving the plot muddled and hard to follow. The characters are all there; the journey is just trying. By the time I got to the final 1/4th of the book, I was starting to get pretty anxious that Chase wouldn’t leave enough time for the picture-perfect wedding that’s been anticipated throughout the series. I think that also distracted me from the plot development. The twist that Julius is turned to a ghost gave the book a sense of urgency and was dramatic and unexpected, it just didn’t come together in the epic ending that I was hoping for. In the end, I’m glad I finished the series and still enjoy Deanna Chase as an author. I’m hoping some of her other series’ become really captivating because I think she has the potential to be an amazing writer.
Good read
How fun!! Even if somewhat predictable it is still a good read!
Really love this series and any book deanna chase writes. Highly recommend.
Deanna, has twisted mind, But I love ever one of her books. with Haunting Characters, friendships and love. It is bad when you dream about a book.
Wedding Bells are in the air and a close friend is accused of murder. Witches, ghosts and pups. The gang is back and they are not amused. Fast read with some fun surprises. Loved it.
There are always problems when you are preparing for your wedding. Not many brides have to worry about a groom who is human when he isn’t a ghost. Pyper does. When one of their best friends is arrested for killing another friend an evil spell pulls Julius in separating them.
All of their friends have some special power and get together to clear Charlie of the crime and save Julies from the spell. There is more magic going on than even the best of their talented friends can handle–or can they.
Will the wedding take place? Will Charlie be exonerated? There’s never a dull moment and more ups and downs than the biggest baddest roller coasters around. Emotions are all over the place. It’s good to keep up with the lives of the rest of the characters we have come to care about in this series.
Are they gonna get their HEA?
When Deanna Chase writes you are bound to fall in love with the book…
Spirits, Spells and Wedding Bells is one of those books…it was amazing!
Pyper and Julius are to be married in 3 weeks so crunch time….Pyper doesn’t have time for anything to go wrong…so many last minute things. But at Pyper’s bridal shower things do go as planned…the police show up to arrest Charlie, the manager of Wicked, for the murder of Sam. Say what?? Pyper and her best friend, Jade, try to help clear Charlie of all charges and find out who really murdered Sam. But while doing so….a witch interferes and tries to cast a spell on Pyper’s resident ghost, Ida May, but it back fires and hits Julius. I won’t go any further than this because I don’t like to give away the story line…
Does Pyper find out who really killed Sam? Was it Charlie? Or someone else? You will have to pick up a copy of this book to find out…I would suggest getting the whole series and reading them in order…you won’t be sorry.
Pyper is back, and as always is up to her elbows in trouble. This time Charlie is accused of killing Sam, and unfortunately Julius is drawn into her murder investigation by Sam’s ghost. If Pyper doesn’t solve the murder, Julius could be lost to her forever. Pyper and Julius’ love is something to behold, as is Jade and Kane who play a role in this plot. I just love seeing the love and tight friendship everyone has for each other. As such, I think the mystery takes a little bit of a backseat (not a bad thing). As usual, I cried at the end. This author is just great at playing with the reader’s emotions, and if you are fan of romance with a little bit of mystery, you’ll love this book and series! I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
Pyper and all the gang from Bourbon Street are back with another very exciting mystery to solve.
it’s three weeks before Pyper and Julius tie the knot, they are both excited for their special day but when murder gets in the way, ghosts are not always helpful but Pyper knows one thing she can always rely on her best friends Kane and Jade to help her save the day, and also save Charlie and Julius… There is a lot going on in Pyper’s world right now, her emotions are running wild and her hormones are following…lol can she get it together to fix everything, find a killer, solve the mystery and make it to the alter in time?
Spirits, Spells and Wedding Bells was another great mystery from Deanna Chase, it had all of my favorite characters and a few new ones I wouldn’t mind getting to know more about, but mostly it had Pyper and Julius doing whatever they have to to get to the alter and continue their happily ever after…
