It is the distant future and one man, Jonas Valent, is letting his life slip by. He is employed by Freeground station as a port traffic controller, a job he took after completing a tour in the military. His only real joy in life is his participation in true-to-life military simulations with a cadre of friends who come together regularly to defeat challenges made to test the brightest military … cadets and officers alike. These restricted scenarios stand as an addictive preoccupation that is so enticing that they ignore the potential repercussions of breaking in to participate.
When someone betrays their identities to the Freeground Fleet Admiralty, Jonas and his friends are faced with a far greater challenge: to venture out into the more populated regions of the galaxy to acquire technology and knowledge. They are tasked with laying the groundwork for the Freeground Nation in their efforts to reconnect with the rest of humanity, and to secure the armaments they might need to defend themselves from encroaching enemies.
Spinward Fringe Broadcast 0: Origins is a collected trilogy that chronicles the early adventures of an ambitious crew. Their leader, Jonas Valent, has the least to lose and everything to gain as he tells the tale of his first tour as Captain of a ship tasked with making allies and discovering new technologies for the good of his people. This simple mission becomes more complicated as the crew ventures further into the settled fringes of the galaxy.
This trilogy spawned the best selling Spinward Fringe eBook series. This is where it all began, when one man was challenged to aspire for more than an idle life.
A Space Opera Adventure enjoyed across the globe by all ages.

Gives the bad guys way too much credit for intelligent thought and creativity
This was a very interesting story with a unique plot. Loved the characters and how they were developed. The story moved at a fast pace which made me want to keep reading to the end. Highly recommend.
well written and engrossing worth the time to read
I could never figure out why main character was special. Should have keep his love life away from his work life. To much self praise and having characters praise him.
I have read and enjoyed the entire series, but this book stands out, One cannot help getting involved in the life of Jonas and his companions, wishing them well in every new adventure. The technologies seem plausible and build logically. The characters are introduced in a way you can remember them and recognize them when the come into the story again. This is a good read, and worth a re-read.
Overall good, trys to pull you into the other books in the series. More like short stories than a series of 3, but still good.
Really interesting. Not the average space thriller
Rather Juvenile, ok for teens etc.
Great character development and I genuinely appreciated the technical concepts.
A good read. Start with this then enjoy the entire series.
Great book well written
Best new sci-fi series in many years.
fun space opera; worth reading if you like the genre
Enjoyed the book, was wanting more
GREAT STORY
Not my kind of story, didn’t hold my interest. Maybe just not the sort of sci-fi I like.
A new favorite sci fi series
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Then I bought the second one in the series, nothing ever gets resolved (maybe in book 12?) and it becomes rather tedious. And when the best character becomes a bad guy for a while in the 2nd book, it was over for me, along with many typos and ridiculous grammar.
This is the introduction to one of my favourite SciFi series! The books are designed to be read like the episodes in a TV show, and the just keep getting more interesting as I go. While there is a whole lot of David vs. Goliath going on, there are great characters, good action, and love stories. All wrapped up dangerous universe.
Good Space Opera, I am ALWAYS on the look out for the next book in the series!
