I ate six seeds. Now I owe six months of debt to a dangerously sexy Fae hitman. I’d had everything a dryad could want- a job, an apartment, and a scandalous human boyfriend-Until I stole the wrong fruit from the wrong Fae. Dragged into the Seelie underworld of deception and lies, I do anything he commands: steal, spy, even fight as we hunt down a notorious Fae fugitive. Not exactly the fun I was …
Not exactly the fun I was looking for, despite the intense attraction between us.
But when the mission ends, I may not want to leave.
Dark and Wicked Fae is a Hades and Persephone-inspired Fae reverse harem romance, with high steam and a harem that builds over time. For mature readers only.

This is the first book in this new series and I am absolutely in love with this entire storyline. These characters are so great and I couldn’t put down at all. Really enjoyed everything about this and can not wait for more to come.
This is a great start to a new series by Cate Corvin. If you like to read a book that will gradually build and be intense at the same time. Then you need to start this series. We start off with a mystery so I was immediately was like um what is going on. So we have Briallen who is a dryad on a visa trying to become a citizen in Avilion. She is working a crappy job and not sure what will happen when her time is up. Something happens one day when she is working and everything changed for her. We meet Robin, Gwyn and Jack. Let me say these guys are broody, hot, mysterious and elusive. They show up out of nowhere but always leaves an impression. However, she works with Robin and then all the dangerous things start to happen. However, she does better than I thought she would in certain situations. Well….some situations called for favors and now we don’t know when they will be called upon. However, the ending leaves you on a huge cliffhanger and now we have to wait to see what will happen.
This book dragged me in immediately. I loved every part of it. I absolutely can’t wait for more. The mix of characters is definitely interesting. This is a must read you will not be disappointed. You can’t help but love Bri and want al the best for her. She is having such a rough time.
I loved this book. This is such an interesting story. I love the way the characters all seem to fit perfectly in the story and adding Jack was a nice touch. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Cate Corvin literally never disappoints
I love everything about this new series and all the new characters! This world is absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next!
Spin the Shadows was such a fantastic start to a new series. Like all of Cate’s books, it was so easy to fall head first into this story. The FMC, Briallen, is incredibly relatable. I loved seeing the sassiness and humor that had and how she was just trying to make her life her own, doing whatever she needed to do to make it happen. It’s admirable to see her wanting to take a step away from her past and make a new future for herself where she can see herself as something other than a failure. Although she is a “lesser” fae, looked down upon by many, she seems to attract several higher tiered fae. Robin, Gwyn, and Jack are refreshing characters who don’t seem to see Briallen as lesser, and it might possibly be because she doesn’t treat them like they are higher. She speaks out against them when others would balk. I think that’s what sets her apart and intrigues them. The connections between Briallen and the three are vastly different–Robin is a bit standoffish but very protective, Gwyn is the one that can make her laugh, and Jack is the one who I can see helping her find herself and in turn, learn to love her powers that she feels make her a failure. These guys don’t have a great past together, but Briallen is that missing link. They may come from different courts and areas, but just wait, they are going to be buddies soon enough. Or they’ll just forever be repaying debts to each other. I could see it turn into a competition of sorts.
Relationships, powers, serial killers, repaying debts…this book just has so much to look forward to! I’m most excited about learning about Briallen’s powers because something just isn’t adding up. I think mommy dearest has a few secrets tucked away. Can’t wait to see how the next boom turns out!
I don’t normally read books about fae, but I loved this cover so much I had to. Since I have very little fae knowledge, I wasn’t sure what some of the beings were, but Cate described them well enough to where I could envision what they were and looked like. This book was filled with action, crime, magic, and finding yourself.
I really loved Briallen’s character. She’s a reject and seen as a defect from her own people, but it’s made her strong, resilient, and a tad snarky. My favorite characters were probably Sisse, a pixie, and Carabosse, a hedge witch. I don’t think I had a favorite out of the guys, but Jack intrigued me the most. I liked how Gwen’s personality was a total flip from the bad boy type when it came to Bri and the connection Robin had with her.
Cate did an amazing job on the world building and I could picture Avilion and Annywn along with the Underground and Seelie Court. I could see the loose reimagining of a Hades and Persephone retelling, but it wasn’t too prominent. With as intrigued as I am about Jack, I’m very excited to see what happens next in this new series!
This was a very entertaining story. Great beginning to the series and I cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommended.
Cate Corvin is a new author for me. I have to say, I absolutely loved her writing style. She created an amazing book and I will be coming back to read even more from her.
Spin the Shadows is a fantastic start to a new series. Briallen, the FMC, is smart, witty, and so relatable. She is vulnerable and yet confident, especially when it comes to the guys.
Whew , they are all sexy af, uniquely individual and alpha’s in their own rite. How Briallen handles all these men, I don’t know, but I loved reading about it.
This book has suspense, love, angst, passion and so much more. Cate brought her writing A-game to the table and blew me away! I was elated with it and definitely recommend everyone download it!!
HOLY. COW. I NEED MORE OF THIS SERIES ASAP! I wasn’t sure if this would be my cup of tea. Sometimes PR can be hit and miss for me but I absolutely loved this book. Briallen was great! I actually really loved that she was “defective” as a fae. I don’t think she was defective at all though and I actually felt really bad about how things transpired with her people and with her mom. Robin was mysterious even though he made me mad that one time after that one night. Lol. Ugh. Not over it. Gwyn was my favorite cause he basically just has Bri’s back and he’s sexy and silly and he’s just perfect. Can’t wait to read more about him! Jack.. I knew I would love Jack because he’s supposed to be that one wild card kind of guy. And he is. And that cliffy at the end, I have SO MANY QUESTIONS. I would classify this as a slow burn because there wasn’t much heat to it, but that’s ok because the storyline was honestly killer! It truly was great and I’m dying for book 2!!
Wow……… Fabulous start to a new series. I could not put it down once I started. Cate Corvin does magical things with her words that suck you into another world and takes you on a rollercoaster ride. We get to meet Briallen and she is a strong FMC with a sassy side. She learns to cope when she goes from a normal Fae to a powerful Fae. Just Amazingness!! I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Ahh I need more!
Briallen and the guys are so different but work so well together and I can’t wait to see where their relationships go!
Spin the Shadows is the perfect combination of all things I love in a book! It’s funny, romantic, dark and delicious, with a good chunk of drama chucked in.
I just love how both the human and fae worlds combine to bring you the most wonderful story.
Well done Cate Corvin on what I know will be another amazing series! I’m really looking forward to the next in the series!
**I wish i could give this book more than 5 stars because i really liked it**
Based loosely on the Hades & Persephone. Dispatch courier – Braillen gets into a spot of bother when delivering a parcel and cheekily taking some fruit (Eating 6 seeds) which is owned by Robin. The Fae Queen Left Hand so basically like her own kind of investigator and a big problem until he offers her a way out of her predicament. Making her an kind of work partner for the time being. Yes theres plenty of dark plot twists in this book (namely the Ghosthand Killer as such) but theres also a light fun side (especially with Gwyn) too as well as a few steamy ones too. You cant help but like Briallen. She has a playful energy about her and i loved the dynamic between her, Robin, Gwyn and maybe Jack too!! More so with that ending. Its a cracking read and i cant wait for the next book
not that Cate ever disappoints, but O-M-effing-G this book is phenomenal!!
Cate really knows how to create such awesome world filled with adventure great story plot I really enjoyed this book and I was able get involved with the characters and I can’t wait to read more books by Cate
I’m in love with this new series! I read it straight through as soon as I got, Cate is an amazing author! Briallen is a pretty badass FMC & she meets some fantastic men along the way, the cliffhanger is a great surprise & I can’t wait for the next book!
Why am I not surprised that Cate Corvin has come up with another fantastic world for us to jump into. With Spin of Shadows I was pulled into a well written world filled with Fae and other supernatural creatures. I love the characters that Corvin has written, especially Briallen. I also really enjoyed how each of the relationships followed their own progressions. The storyline kept me completely engrossed. I can never get enough of Corvin’s writing and Spin the Shadows is no different. Bring on Breath of Frost!
Hot damn it yesss… Loved this book can’t wait for more Care your books always captivate me.. the best escape from everyday struggles a girl could ask you. Keep on being your and writing these awesome books..
Normally when I start a new series, I’ve already read the blurb about it and have an idea what I’m getting myself into. In this case, I didn’t and I couldn’t be happier. Of course, having read most of Cate Corvin’s books, I had an inkling, but no more than that.
I love the main character, Briallen. She’s clever and sassy and strong. I know this is a Reverse Harem story, so I expect her attachments to expand, but in this first book she’s really just getting started. I enjoyed the suspense/crime solving aspect of this almost as much as the character development.
I can’t wait to see where this series goes and am hopeful that this turns into one with many (MANY) installments. If you like Fae stories flavored with detective/crime-solving and rolled up in a sexy RH coating, then this is a book for you. I highly recommend!
I love any book I read from Cate, and always say that that one was my favorite, this new series is off to a killer start pun intended and I love her characters the story as always sucks you in and you find your self turning that last page and can’t be live it’s over all ready! I can not wait for frost!
