This book keeps you guessing and wanting to know what happens. It contains a sensitive storyline. The more you read the more you want I know what happened. Some times it was slow but it all made sense in the end
Twisted, so many different voices telling this story. Totally not what i expected but loved it. Such great topics to address.
Spin by K.J. Farnham is the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of her work. This book is told in multiple POV’s and will hook you from the first page. This is a well-written story of heartbreak, tragedy and mystery. I highly recommend it!
Bonnie Kemp’s life has turned upside down when her daughter, Jenna, doesn’t return home one night. Now she attempts to get her friends to help her figure out where Jenna could possibly be.
But for Jenna’s closest friends, Keely, Dustin and Delaney, the last three months they have noticed a change in Jenna and have drifted apart. With the help of Jenna’s new friend, Leighton Pierce, can they put the pieces of the puzzle together and find Jenna before it’s too late?
OMG – this was an incredible book and as a mother I could not put it down and now I need to read everything else this author has written!
This book deals with some heavy issues and at times it just breaks your heart to understand what Jenna went through in the past and then understanding why she began to change and it all made perfect sense.
The book is told from a multitude of views including Jenna herself in the past and I found it was done so well that you never felt like it was too much or overwhelming. I almost felt like my heart was broken from the first moment we discover why Jenna is freaking out and then it all just goes from there.
I was broken with listening to her friends blame themselves for almost distancing themselves from Jenna when she began to change and then for them to realize why she was and them not being there for her when she needed them. I couldn’t imagine what they all went through when they began to learn certain things.
As a mom I was so broken that Jenna felt like she couldn’t go to her own mom and for not protecting her in the past. My heart was so broken for her mom when she discovered the truth and then to have people still take the side of the person who caused the pain.
The end had me really wondering what had happened as there were a few people of interest but then at some point I really thought of the person that was responsible. I was shocked and although I had guessed the ending I was still just shattered.
I loved Keely’s dedication at the end and I really will be making sure my own daughter reads this book!!
Loved it and couldn’t put it down!!
Wow. Just wow.
This was a page turner at it’s best.
This was such a gripping tale that you can’t look away from.
It’s a true reminder of how you have no idea what’s going on behind closed doors, or behind people’s facades.
Definitely a must read and hope to see more like this from this author.
A 2.5
I will be honest, I found this book boring at times. It seemed overly wordy so there was a lot of reading for no read reward for example rather than saying “I left the kitchen and headed to my room” it says I walked down the hall and up the stairs to my room, I don’t feel the need for that level of description.
I found the premise if the book good but felt it dragged on a bit and there was too long with friends keeping secrets and thinking oh may be we shouldn’t say. If your friend is missing and the police involved then tell all. It’s better them being found and upset with you than keeping pertinent information to yourself
Loved how this book was in different POVs. It kept my attention from start to finish. Will be reading more from this author!
This book was really good.
I found myself reading so slow so I didn’t miss anything.
It is told from many POV and it does a fantastic job of telling what happens after someone goes missing.
This book is about a girl who has suffered abuse so this should only be read if you aren’t triggered.
It is important to watch your kids or watch kids and note any changes to behavior. Also a good message to listen to what they are saying.
I’m going to start out by saying every teen and every adult who has contact with teens (so pretty much every single person) should read this book. It’s a great way to open up the lines of communication with a teen about pretty much any subject, including the really hard ones.
K.J. does a fantastic job of making this story come alive and makes you feel like you know Jenna or like you could be Jenna. Every character in this story jumps off the pages and becomes real in your mind because she has created such realistic characters from Jenna to Hayley and every one in between. This book will make you feel so much before it even comes to its conclusion and boy what a conclusion it is! I’m pretty sure most people will be smiling through their tears and will be completely satisfied with this ending, even if it’s not what you were hoping for.
This book was amazing! It is told through multiple POV’s, and bounces from before Jenna’s disappearance to after. This book may contain triggers for some because Jenna was sexually abused. As heartbreaking as this story was, I am glad that justice was served.
~I volunteered to read a copy.
I wanted to like this and I did for like the first 20-30%, then it just seemed to drag and the back and forth in time was just getting to me. We knew why she changed, we knew because of whom and I just wanted to get to present day to see how it all unfolded. But seriously it didn’t pick back up until about 93% in.
Wasn’t the ending I expected, the outcome was what I thought, but not the ending.
This touches on so many issues, ones I’m glad are being talked about.
Wow this book has a lot of mystery when a girl goes missing a piece of her journal could be the missing link to find out what happens.
This is Ms. Farnham’s best work to date!
Spin is told in multiple POV’s, but each chapter is clearly defined as to which character is talking.
I couldn’t put this book down! She had from hooked from the first page to the last word written.
Jenna Kemp appears to be a normal high school teenager, but in reality she is hiding a secret from her family and friends. This secret starts to consume her and her once normal life starts spinning all around her. It starts as a slow spin, but is soon spiraling out of control, and she needs to find a way to make it all stop.
Just when Jenna finally starts the process of getting her life back on track, she goes missing. After a few nights of her not returning home, her family and her friends realize that Jenna was in more trouble than they thought.
Everyone is trying to figure where she went, with whom and why….including myself. I was literally on the edge of my seat trying to play detective. EVERY time I thought I would know those answers, Ms. Farnharm would flip something around or give me a little more information, and I would have to start all over again!
Can her friends and family find her? Will Jenna finally expose her secret or will her life just keep spinning downward. One of my favorite lines from this book is “When they were kids, going as fast as possible was the ultimate goal. But now that they were older, going slow seemed like the right thing to do”.
I highly recommend this book!
