She’s been broken by life. He’s always had it easy. Can they trust each otherenough to be the fix they both need?I used to wonder if there was something wrong with me, because there was nothing wrong with me. I’m a happy, well-adjusted, laid-back guy, or so I always thought. The reality, though, is I’ve been coasting through life, not thinking or feeling, just being. That is until everything goes … being.
That is until everything goes wrong, and Emi comes crashing into my life in the worst way possible. Yet for all the drama, angst, and heartache she brings with her, she’s also shown me what it means to be human—to feel, love, and hurt. She’s taught me what it meant to be alive.
She’s so fragile, yet she’s also the strongest person I know—a true survivor. She’s been to hell and back but wakes up every morning ready to fight another day.
And when tragedy strikes and my perfect world falls apart, she’s the one helping me pick up the pieces. Yet each time she needs me to be there for her, she pushes me away.
But I refuse to just walk away. She’s taught me that real life isn’t easy, and if something’s worth wanting, it’s worth fighting for.

Gripping and Intense!
WOW! This story started off with a massive, intense and thrilling beginning. The violent way it started was off the charts and utterly gripping – it will grab you and keep you in its hooks until the end. There is so much action, suspense and intrigue throughout, with one intense and beautiful love story woven within.
The main characters are beautifully written and the author does not hold back with their story. Emi has a very dark and broken past and comes blazing into the story in the midst’s of a dark and twisted relationship. She seems to be a timid woman but as we get to know her throughout the story we learn that she is brave, strong and fierce. Her life has not been easy but she is trying to come out from the ashes. Spider is the opposite. He has a great life and a wonderful family. The events that bring these two characters together could break most people, but these two people show us that they are strong and can overcome bad situations. Their fast paced love affair is sweet and beautiful. Spider is very loving and respectful and knows how to make a woman feel wanted and loved. Even though their beginning was chaotic and scary it was like fate had a hand in their future. Their souls were crying out to be together.
Spider and Emi’s story was beautiful and very sweet. It was well written and highly entertaining and enjoyable. I loved every second of it. Highly recommend.
This book was EPIC. It’s hard to put into words how much I lived this book. Spider and Emi meet under the craziest circumstances. And then they don’t see each other for over a year. But those 13 months neither of them can let the other go. So when Spider sees her again he’s not letting go so easy. Even though semi thinks he’s better off without her and her baggage. But he’s will to fit and win her heart. This book is heartbreaking and not for the faint of heart. It talks a lot about mental, physical and sexual abuse.
It’s incredible and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Sometimes you read a book that touches you on such a deep level and that’s exactly what Spider did for me. It captured my soul and and I don’t think it will ever let it go. Spider and Emi’s story is just plain EPIC!! There were times while reading Spider that I reread whole paragraphs or just a few sentences multiple times because they touched something in me. Spider is truly a one of a kind love story that everyone needs to read. MV Ellis if I could give you every award possible for this book I would do just that. You deserve all the accolades for Spider. It was truly an honor reading this book and I look forward to reading EVERYTHING you write!!
Wonderfully powerful but also well worth the journey
Spider is the second book in the Rough Ink series but can be read as a standalone which is what I did, as I had not read the first book Zed.
So the story of Emi and Spider is emotional and hits you deep down in the soul. There are a number of triggers and at times it is a bit hard to read but in the end it is so worth it. I am not going to lie as I had to put this book down a few times and pick something light and fun to read. But I always came back to this book after my brief break. The journey that Emi and Spider take, with a lot of ups and downs, is wonderfully powerful and a great read.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Happy tears at the end of the book!
A beautiful, intense, emotional, heavy story. The way in which Emi stands in life after everything she got thrown in her path, oh boy, I don’t think I would copy it.
And Spider, what a wonderful sensitive man you have put down with his character.
As soon as I read the first pages, I was in the story, I couldn’t put the book away. Emotions are described so real that it cannot be otherwise or you feel them coming through the words. Emi’s strenght is so powerful and with that she can help others. Even moments of weakness that Emi shows are strong and so tangible.
Highly recommended!

A really great book that I was hooked on from the very first page and could not put down until the end. These two were definitely great for each other. I was over all the place with these with with my emotions but just seriously loved them.
This book shows the highs and lows of ever relationship it takes you from a really bad relationship to a really good one. Its emotional and a makes you want to scream and rage against the people in this book who do bad things that hurt others. Its a book of triumph as well and shows that you can overcome violence when it changes your life and shows how people deal with grief and loss and shows that a family is what you make with those you care about and not about blood.
Spider has things easy pretty much his whole life until one moment of danger changes everything and a huge loss later change him. He meets EMI and everything changes she becomes his whole focus and there romance is messy complicated and beautiful. Emi has know pain and regret her whole life until Spider he shows her not everything is painful and Love can happen for everyone even if your not sure you should be together.

Fate brings Spider and Emi together in a powerful meeting. She is at the lowest point of her life and is looking for help. Spider is a is a tattoo artist who has had an easy life. An unexpected event rocks Spider’s life. But each of their life events might not be able to hold these 2 people together.
MV Ellis does an amazing job of describing the emotions and phases of an abused woman. I felt a connection to Emi that only women who go through this experience can have. This was a book that I could not put down. Loved it!

Well if you read this book you better have some tissues on hand. If you have triggers do not read this book. It is sad and heartbreaking!
We follow Emi and Spider in this book. Emi met spider at SK:eTCH when she and her boyfriend go in to get a tattoo. Only things take a turn for the worst. Spider sees Emi and feels something stir inside his xhest. That day was the day Emi touches his heart and she has no idea. She is trying to pick up the pieces of her life when she runs into Spider again. This time Spider doesn’t let her go so easily. They strike up a relationship. This is an emotional one. Spider treads carefully because he wants to be there for her. This relationship is so up and down but this time it is all Emi. So what happens with them? Can Emi move on? Will Spider give up?
These two have some intense moments and the emotions are wild. This book will have you in tears, so be prepared. I can’t wait for what the next book in the series will bring.

This book will grab you from the beginning and not let go. it comes with a warning. it speaks on things we are just now trying to talk more openly about. domestic violence, mental instability, lies and family secrets. Drama, character growth and romance all in one. Emi and Spider are fated and have some moments that will have your feelings exploding.

A dark story of pain and strength. When they met it was literally life or death.
Spider was living fine, good job, friends, no real problems. So good it was almost boring–until Emi came in for a tattoo with a man who anyone could tell was dangerous. More to come.
Emi made some bad choices but couldn’t escape. Would she make a life for herself?
When they met again would they get past the differences? Emi didn’t want to repeat her mistake but sometimes you have to take a chance. Could she?
Not spoiling it for other readers prevents more details. A good story with strong people. Readers: heed the trigger warnings.
Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
This is not my first read from MV Ellis, however, this book was a bit challenging for me. The book started off with a bang, literally, but I feel like it lost some of its momentum as the story unfolded. Once I start a novel, my hope is that it grips me so that I don’t want to put it down. With this book, my mind would drift off and I would keep stopping. For me the story is a slow read and I think that’s because there’s so much dialogue. I do love the hero, Spider. He was an alpha male that didn’t need to run around thumping his chest to let people know he was an alpha male. That was refreshing. Anyway, the book features very heavy subject matter and there’s a lot of it. It almost feels like there’s too much going on to fully appreciate it all. I read Break You (Boys of Trinity Hall Book 1) also written by MV Ellis and loved that book. There was so much sexual tension and it was a very slow burn. It felt like those characters earned their HEA, which brings me into the story more so than Spider did. Overall, I like MV Ellis’ writing so this will not be the last book I read from her.

This is a heavy subject (physical and emotional abuse) that is handled well by the author. I appreciate that she didn’t have Emi jump right into a relationship with Spider and there was a jump in time between their first and second meeting. The story was thoughtfully done and well written. I enjoyed the book and I thought the slow pace and dialogue really helped develop the characters. Although it was a standalone in a series, I haven’t read the first book and feel like it would have helped in understanding some of the periphery characters.
