#2 in the Callie’s Kitchen Mysteries, Spiced and Iced, takes place in December— a great holiday read.
Callie must deal with her ex and his new wife, her Greek aunt, murder , crazy clients, and more. I enjoyed the twisty plot, her changing relationship with Detective Ian, the family/friend drama, and the easy dive into Callie’s Wisconsin world. I had changing suspects, but the ending really surprised me. On to book 3!
I love this series! This author is fun.
Spiced and Iced is the second book in Jenny Kales’ Callie’s Kitchen Mystery series, and was quite fun to read. It’s Christmas, and Callie’s engrossed in the running of her shop, Callie’s Kitchen, and also with her outside catering events, but she’s not too busy to investigate the murder of Natalie Underwood, head of events at the English Country Inn in Crystal Bay, Wisconsin. Throw in her ex-husband’s impending move to Crystal Bay, Aunt Sweetie’s visit from Greece, and her continuing relationship with Detective Ian Sands, and Callie has her hands full. Nice story with lots of twists and turns, and I highly recommend it. A+

My new favorite series and I’m so glad I already have book 3 on hand. I love all the characters and the descriptions of everything are so vivid, I feel like I’m right there. The food descriptions have me craving to bake/cook. Love that the recipes are included and can’t wait to try them. Fun addition of “Sweetie”, the cousin/aunt visiting from Greece so I hope there is a trip to Greece in the near future for Callie and company. I’m already anticipating a letdown when I finish book 3 and don’t have book 4 in my hands.
Loved this book!! The characters are delightful and the town is charming. Callie once again finds a dead body when dropping off items for an event at the local inn. She gets roped into investigating by the inn’s owner. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait to read the next book and hopefully see Callie and Detective Sands relationship deepen.
