If you love to read about sexy merman than you need to check out this series by Starla Night. I have been waiting for this series to be completed to finish reading and now it is. So here we have Bella and Balim’s story. Now you have met Balim in previous books. He is the healer for the Atlantis clan. We only get bits and pieces about him but here we get it all. So Balim has some issues and it stems with what happened to him when he was young. He does not feel that he is a good merman. However, he does what he can to help out and to him it almost feels like he is trying to atone for something. Since the merman came out to the world there has been some turmoil. There are people against them becoming citizens and people who want to help them. It is not only happening on land but in the sea as well. Then we have Bella who has been helping them find their soul mates. There is a company called MerMatch who is gathering information from woman who want to see if they can find love. However the mermen have these sea opals that are worth a lot of money and has healing powers. So they have to be careful. Now Bella is chosen to go on a date with Balim to see if she is his soul mate. Not this gets interesting. Bella has a son who is sick and she is doing everything she can to save him. Can Balim help her? The thing is she is torn because she is also trying to be a spy towards the Sons of Hercules to stop them from killing the merman. This story gets intense because she wants to be with Balim but does not want him to get hurt. After reading this being is spy is tough work. At what lengths will you go to keep everyone protected and what are you willing to risk. Its like Bella can’t catch a break. She will either lose her son or her soul mate. What will Balim do for her? He feels as though he already has darkness, is he willing to let that overcome him to help her and lose her forever. I can say that we do get a happily ever after but there was a price that was paid. Hopefully it will all work out in the end.
3.5 to 3.75 Stars
This book took had an even darker tone than the previous books in the series. Unfortunately, I struggled with enjoying this one as I had the others. It pains me to admit this because thus far Lords of Atlantis has been an incredible journey. It has been a long time since a book series caught my attention and held on with intense anticipation. In addition to the darker tone, Spellbound by the Sealord left me with dissatisfaction and quite a few questions. While Bella and Balim’s book ended with them being safe, I didn’t feel it was the ending either deserved. Unfortunately, I can’t explain my disappointment in details without giving away spoilers. That said, I think a prologue explaining a few things would have helped me enjoy more than be confused. I’m the type of reader that looks for the details and likes my stories wrapped up nicely for the main characters, even when a plot is building and moving along with each book. Sometimes subplots are added that keeps a reader’s interest when the main plot is struggling to move. That is normal and mostly enjoyable, but as I said earlier, I ended this book with questions.
Some of the books are ok to be read as a standalone but this book had too much going on that even I was confused at times. This is just my opinion and doesn’t reflect on the author’s talent to weave a story. In fact, I am impressed with how much detail is written into the undersea history of the Mer. It is very realistic and extremely well thought out. The stories are suspenseful and passionate and absolutely engaging as well as dramatic, and intriguing. And I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys, romance, paranormal/shifters and and suspense.
As the series continues to its end, I will keep reading and hope that the final books will bring me the answers I need. There is so much potential for this series to continue and I hope we will see many more of the Mer we have come to know and love receive their happy ever afters.
I was lucky enough to come across book #1 in the series, Seduced by the Sea Lord, during a free promotion otherwise I don’t know if I’d ever know of this series. At the time of this review, the series is priced at $2.99 and I think that is a worthy price. If you grab the boxed sets, you can save a bit bit more.
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Spellbound By The Sea Lord is Book 7 in the Lords of Atlantis series. Starla’s ability to weave a spellbinding story is awesome. The storyline is fantastic and the character development is excellent. Balim (merman) and Bella (human) are wonderfully strong individuals and each doubts that they are worth of love and happiness because of decisions made in their past. This is a phenomenal adventure with action, suspense, danger, twists/turns, and romance. With the Sons of Hercules causing havoc and trying to eliminate mermen, will Balim and Bella find their HEA? I encourage you to get this book to find out and to enjoy a truly spectacular story. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
A wonderful edition to the Lords of Atlantis series and finally we get Balim’s story
He has been the healer in most of the previous stories and we knew that he hadn’t ha a happy past but now finally we get his story and his love for Bella. She is a fierce independent woman perfect for Balim she is also a red headed single mum who will do whatever she needs to in protecting her son. There will be plenty of drama between these two before they finally get their HEA and of course the Son’s of Hercules are still causing trouble
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Balim finally found his mate.
Bella is attracted to Balim.
But is that enough ?
If they are not careful, Balim + Bella could let their personal baggage destroy their relationship.
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
This is a new standalone entry inthis wonderful series that in my opinion, just keeps getting better. The book focuses on Balim and Bella. My heart ached for these two. Both carried such heavy emotional baggage and guilt that weighed them down and made them feel undeserving of love and happiness. Bella I thought was super relatable and realistic. She was smart, determined, a good person at heart and quite simply FIERCE!! Balim, as with all the sea lords was swoon worthy. Determined, dedicated and tortured, I honestly couldn’t decide which I wanted to hug more. The story line was very engaging and quickly captures your attention. Rich with emotional turmoil, suspense, danger, mystery, heat and drama, you are kept engaged and on edge waiting to see what will happen next. The book reunites readers with many beloved characters and introduces some very intriguing new ones as the story unfolds. An excellent read.
Another great addition to this series. I was hooked from the very beginning. The author has been doing a phenomenal job with connecting each story. I love the storyline and characters. In this little adventure we find tons of action, suspense, danger and romance with some super steamy scenes to whet our appetite. Balim and Bella are a great couple both with their own problems and doubts that is affecting their ability to be happy and find happiness with each other. The Sons of Hercules are far more powerful and dangerous than they all assumed. Unfortunately, that knowledge came too late for Bella. In their bid to stop this terrorist group they find themselves both exiled. This story has many awesome twists and an amazing ending. You should definitely give this book a read, you won’t regret it. I look forward to reading more from this author.
If you have been following this series of books the average reader will no that there is not a boring story in the collection.
This book is no exception to that claim. For me this story was actually one of the better ones as the author took a different line for this story. I really don’t want to give to much away but this couple will be bombarded from all sides. Everyone wants something from them that will cause mistrust, anger, confusion, a murderous thought or two and resignation and a small taste of hopelessness.
This books was completed in one sitting and there were times that outburst of laughter happened it was not all doom and gloom.
This couple had to fight for their happiness.
Books by Starla Knight are some of my favorites and after reading one I will always try to post a review without obligation to the author.
